A list of puns related to "Higehiro"
I, like a lot of people didnβt watch Koikimo because of the problematic plot; a mid twenties man relentlessly pursues a high school girl heβs fallen in love with. This plot is comparable higehiro; a mid twenties man shelters a highschool run away, and although the man pushes to keep their relationship platonic, feelings start to emerge.
So hereβs all the reasons I believe Koikimo is unexpectedly better:
Characters are much more real and thoughtful. Higehiro characters fall in the anime trope of characters being so confused and overwhelmed that they donβt know what they want and have trouble communicating directly. I wonβt go into specifics but if you watched the show I think you know what I mean. In Koikimo, characters directly say what theyβre feeling and work out their problems. One of the main conflicts is the older man and a highschool boy both like the same girl, and the highschool boys directness helps the man realize how immature he actually is, giving him a chance to grow. And the girl, although confused by these feelings she has, makes solid choices on who she prefers and wants to pursue.
Side characters in higehiro are annoying. You got virgin Senpai using MC as a safety net who only shows interest when MC moves on, you got the younger woman who is jealous of a child and keeps monologuing none sense to MC, you got friendly coworker rapist. They all just kind of suck. In Koikimo, the side characters are fully realized, their intentions and desires are reasonable, as well as their actions. The sister of the man who is finally getting to know her brother by helping his relationship, the highschool boy who crushes on MC and actually tells her, and his feelings of inadequacy compared to the adult.
Koikimo is actually pretty funny. Itβs animation portrays the erratic head space of the MC really well. It has comedic highs and dramatic lows, where higehiro is all just kind of one note.
The relationship in Koikimo is less creepy than in Higehiro. Both shows deal with relationships between a mid twenties man and highschool girl. And you would expect Koikimo to be creepier given the plot, but the main characters have had less contact and more solid boundaries than the characters in higehiro. Sure the MC of Koikimo has much more directly romantic feelings, but the writer hasnβt put them in any sexual situations, unlike higehiro.
In Koikimo, episodes actually feel like the story progresses throughout. But Iβve noticed more and more with higehiro, it

I am down for that because he already confirmed additional content, and its good to have a cooldown period after the main story.
ALSO THIS IS THE AUTHOR'S FIRST LIGHT NOVEL. IF WE HOPE HARD ENOUGH WE MAY GET WHAT WE WANT.
I was sad to learn that Higehiro won't have a second season but I heard that it has adapted all 5 volumes of light novel I found the ending to be satisfying I was not disappointed But now I feel empty.....It's sad to see a great romance anime not getting a season 2 but we gotta do what we gotta do So what's your opinion??
