A list of puns related to "Harry Giles (basketball)"
Giles was the #1 ranked player in the class of 2016 but injuries sidetracked him in high school, college, and in the NBA, in terms of health and actually getting to play and develop his game. It's good that he's still confident, and I think he has a place in this league if he gets the opportunity and consistent minutes.
Here's two more tweets from Esnaashari containing quotes from Giles:
> Harry Giles: "Another team, another opportunity. I'm just trying to make the most of it. Happy to be here."
> Harry Giles: "Twin helped me a lot on my first day... he grabbed me early, and that was big." That's two new players on the Clippers speaking highly of Marcus Morris taking care of them.
DeAndre Jordan is just a shell of himself. I already made several posts on this, but everyone should go watch his highlights. On an advanced stats nerd basis, when DAJ plays, the team turns it over 17 times vs. 13 times per 48, over ~40% more. This is due to the lack of spacing to get any passes in the paint and drive and kick. There's no spacing when DAJ and AD play together, especially if Russ is sharing the court.
Also, DAJ has not been able to catch passes vertically or bounce passes. His hands have been like Kwame hands for a while now. Just for offense, I feel like there are players out there that should get a 2-way or 10-day contract just to hustle.
The defense has been okay on average when DAJ plays. Lakers had a soft schedule. He gets burned by tough guards. He also gets lost in drop defense and does not provide enough hustle to go back and forth to protect the paint.
Anyway I propose to take a look at Mamade Diakite -
He was unfortunately waived by OKC Thunder. Thunder just have too much depth.
βHeβs a real rocket athletically,β Thunder coach Mark Daigneault said. βHeβs fast out of his rolls, heβs really explosive, heβs got good feet. Lots of raw tools.β
Mamade is clearly an athletic beast at 6'9" that can provide the vertical spacing to throw down alley-oops and also on defense to defend the paint.
His highlight videos are decent:

Next is Harry Giles. I feel like Harry just hasn't found the right team. Harry is 6'11" and was considered a top 5 high school prospect before some unfortunate injuries. He was ranked #1 by ESPN.
There are probably more out there. Not sure why Lakers are so stacked at shooting guard and not give up some space to sign a young center.
On the Wizards, there was a big turn-around to the season when Westbrook turned Daniel Gafford from trash and end of bench player to full-time starter for the Wizards. I'm not saying those 2 guys above can be like Daniel Gafford.
But I know that the job i
... keep reading on reddit β‘Not all of these guys will be on the active roster, but itβs exciting to have youth in the organization.
Considering we donβt have our picks til 2050, I reckon we can work on our very own young players that Ballmer money got lol
I'm sure I'm missing a bunch of other guys.
Carsen - bad player, small upside (emphasis on small)
Wes Matthews - washed but his wing defense alone provides more value than Carsen and can hit the occasional open corner 3. He also knows his role
Giles - possibly high upside player who can fill in power forward minutes which are sorely lacking on the celtics at the moment, good friends with Tatum
Bradley - we already know who avery is
Per Basketball Reference (the best site in the history of the internet) he is averaging 27.7 PPG 19.4 RPG 5.5 BPG per 36 on 66% FG. He really is Garbage Time Wiltβ’
Giles was selected with the 20th pick in 2017 and sat out his rookie season, but was ranked as a top draft candidate before injury. His first two seasons with the Kings weren't great, but the Kings don't have a great track record for player development. He went on to play for Portland last season, averaging a career low 9.2 minutes per game. That said, his Per 36 minute stats were: 11.2 points, 13.8 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks.
He's still only 23 years old, so you'd have to think a team would still see some potential there--maybe not as a star, but as a decent contributor with health and experience. Why hasn't a team signed him yet? Do you think we'll see him continue his NBA career?
The guy seemed to be having a great year before getting traded to Portland and I feel like I havenβt seen him again. Are we willing to take on another reclamation project based on potential?
Ok, maybe thatβs a bit of a front-loaded question, but I am looking to be sold on Giles. Idk if it has less to do with Terry, maybe just his natural development or opportunities. I didnβt see enough of him last year to grasp a solid opinion; looking for truthers.
I think he's a cheap option that won't get paid that much and I think he signed the 1 year with Portland hoping to get a bigger bag but he actually got less minutes and run than when he was on SAC. He's only 23 and could still be a contributor in the right development program.
Honestly we're a little undersized with Birch/Gillespie/Precious who are all 6'9 or under so a 6'11 guy would be a breath of fresh air. Apparently he's working on his handling right now with dribble2much
This dude was one of the last bigs signed - Portland got a steal. Fully expecting him to have an amazing year if he doesn't get squeezed out by Kanter, Carmelo, Collins
Coming out of high school Giles was ranked the #1 prospect in the 2017 NBA draft, and had superstar potential. He battled with injuries at Duke and fell out of the lottery. He was later drafted by the Kings and did not play at all this season. Does he still have a shot at being a good player in this league? Or has his injuries slowed him down? Let me know what you guys think.
