Expecting our third baby, second girl.
Our first two have classic names, think names like Alexander and Sophie. We both like the name Harper but I feel it will 100% date her like the names Jessica and Ashley and Brittany date girls in my generation (mid 80s).
I mean should that put us off though? My husband’s name really dates him as someone who must be over the age of 35 but he doesn’t care and it doesn’t bother him that the name Harper is trendy.
Harper also goes beautifully with my middle name we’ve chosen (my mum’s name which is pretty unusual).

I really love the name Harper for a girl. The last time I brought it up on NameNerds, a lot of people hate it, which sucks, but I respect peoples opinions. I know Harper is a last name, but there are people with the first name Taylor, and that's a last name. Harper is the only name that I never had a negative personal experience with. I only met one little girl with the first name Harper. I want to name my future daughter Harper after my teacher, Ms. Harper, who I was really close to. Hopefully, she wouldn't mind. I know it's gonna go old fast like Madison, but I really don't care

Hello! My partner and I are (hopefully) adopting a dog soon, this dog is already named Harper. We don’t dislike Harper but it’s not our favorite. Anyone have ideas for a name that may sound like Harper that we could use? Thanks!
We are pregnant again and cannot for the lives of us decide on a name! I do love this trend I stated above. Doesn’t have to be common southern last names but sometimes the more simple the better. What do ya got?

I'm not sure about the context of the Oliver Wendell Holmes quote, but I still feel that the world is complex although governed by simple factors forces, energy, matter, chemistry, evolution, tribalism, cognitive biases, self-interest, and lenses through which we view the world.

Yet the church's official narrative treats dissenters' accounts from Joseph's time is very unbelieving, cynical, and unkind ways. What he states in the above quote is not seeking truth no matter where it leads you. It is seeking confirmation of what you already believe.
Instead of intentionally choosing faith I think people should weigh the evidence and choose what best matches the evidence. When different pieces of evidence contradict each other, I think people should choose the most likely explanation.

I think that if God is a God of righteousness then he should make sure his mouthpiece is achieving a certain basic level of righteousness. He wouldn't want "by their fruits ye shall know them" to be an unfulfilled scriptural promise. Maybe God should have had worthiness interviews with Joseph every two years so he wouldn't besmirch the good name of the church. Of course, other members tried to have Joseph excommunicated but he had them excommunicated first.

I was born at The Ohio State University Hospital to a teenager who couldn’t raise me. I lived in a foster home just north of Columbus before being adopted and raised by a Columbus Public Schools teacher who had immigrated to Ohio from Trinidad. My mother, a single-mom, raised me and my brother while going through a bitter divorce that always had us on edge emotionally and financially. But my mother had a stable union job and so whatever energy she had left, she poured it into my education. I got scholarships to attend Columbus Academy and graduated from Tufts, Princeton and Stanford Law School. I then went to work in Washington under the Obama Administration and became a Senior Advisor at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. While I was there I went after big banks that were ripping off working people. We sued companies like Wells Fargo for opening fake bank accounts in their customers’ names.
In 2020 I ran for U.S.Congress and although we didn’t win (fuck Covid), we used the grassroots momentum to launch Columbus Stand Up! a community organization that mobilized volunteers across Central Ohio to go door-to-door to distribute 30K masks and drive hundreds of vulnerable people to their vaccine appointments.
While we did great work there one thing continued to stick with me. We know what it would take to protect communities from falling behind. We don’t have an ideas problem. We don’t have a policy problem. We have a politician problem.
