A list of puns related to "GunForce"
The person who gave it to me said I should be able to get it working again, but I can't get it to power on...I'm thinking it's maybe a simple fix, but I'm a total beginner at this and don't know electrical at all. Here's a picture of the power supply inside the unit: https://imgur.com/a/NiQ3edn
I'm in over my head but excited to learn. Can anyone tell just by looking at the pictures what I need to do to get this to turn on? Or a resource I should look at online to help? Thanks! (I'm the USA by the way)
Hey kids, you like Contra?! Well you aren't getting it today, but you are getting an inferior shittier ripoff in the form of Gunforce Battle Fire Engulfed Terror Island, this Flashback Friday!

EDIT: HOLY SHIT I FOUND THE CD SOMEWHERE DEEP DOWN IN MY SHELF. Its this little diamond which as it looks is pretty much unknown in the western region.
Platform(s): PC, and probably ONLY PC. (possibly but very unlikely emulated from some arcade)
Genre: Run and gun / sidescroller shoot em up
Estimated year of release: 1998-2005
Graphics/art style: Like an exact combination of Rapid Reload (main character, weapon) and Gunforce 2 (background, assets, stages)
Level design: First stage you were on a freight train, then arrived in some sort of storehouse. One very remarkable stage was a trash dump littered with garbage bags that contained some harmful insects.
Notable characters: Main character: male, and looked like a kid if I remember right. Enemies: dozens of goons and occasionally some bosses.
Notable gameplay mechanics: Shooting, sliding and some melee attack moves.
Other details: It's neither of the well known games, Metal Slug, Gunstar heroes etc. etc... I'm pretty sure it was free, so maybe a fanmade clone/tribute to arcade run and gun games? Or it might be possible that it was only released to the german market or so (where I live)
I love ya NL but losing out on master rounds in exchange for trash cannon ainβt worth it.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Riot Games updated the patch highlights on patch 10.14 and since then they've been sharing targeted skillband information or whether if it's pro or regular play oriented nerfs. I noticed a pattern over marksman nerfs and I wanted to share and discuss it.
Marksman champions got nerfed:
DUE TO PRO PLAY | DUE TO REGULAR PLAY |
---|---|
20 Times | 9 Times (5 of them are Samira nerfs) |
Furthermore some of the regular play nerfs are just reverting a buff, follow ups on Samira release or preseason balancing of champion's interactions with new systems.( Caitlyn nerfs on 10.17, Samira nerf on 10.24, Jhin and Samira nerfs on 10.25)
I added each explanations of nerfs in capitons and as you might notice as well most of the marksman nerfs are early game targeted. So because of all of these I thought balance framework is not suitable for balancing of marksman regular play.
My conclusion are:
My question is what can be done for better balancing of marksman's regular play? What method is can be used in the future?

Context:
One attraction of Biden (primarily discussed on reddit) was the potential cancellation of student debt. This was seen as an ideal by progressives and was heavily pushed by popular figures (mostly on social media) such as AOC and Bernie Sanders. Biden had also made similar discussions on the subject and at one point, had promised too cancel $10,000 of student debt. The expectation has been driven further by many activists discussing the idea and pressuring his administration. However, in a sudden twist, the White House is set to restart student loan payments in February.
This sudden change in both reality and rhetoric has led to some soul searching and heated discussions on the future of the current Democratic party. Progressives, many of whom strongly dislike so-called 'Neoliberals' are disgusted at this and see it as a betrayal. Many progressives are becoming increasingly frustrated with current Democrat policies, threatening to sit out the mid-terms and the election. As a result, infighting within the Democratic support base has been rekindled. In an environment of recent Progressive losses (Several mayoral campaigns across the country went to Republicans and Neoliberals, with few major progressive victories), the worst time to break apart would be now.
Nevertheless, Is it truly Biden's fault? Did he ever promise to cancel all these debts? Are the midterms finished? Who should shut their mouths, progressives of neoliberals? Is choosing not to vote principled or privileged? Should we vouch for accelerationism, revolution or protest? Is any criticism, legitimate or not, levied at the current administration Republican Obstructionism, and ultimately serving their interests? Are we a bunch of whiney babies for taking a loan and refusing to pay it back? Find out in possibly the most widely debated political subject since Bernie's second drop out.

I recall back in GTA3 I could end a chase before it even started by parking a massive truck on the way.
Then GTA4 would have bike chases against immortal bikers who would just die after they had completed the chase sequence to the end, but at least I could choose which gun to shoot with.
RDR2 will make enemies immune to weapons, will force me to use fists, will prevent me from calling my horse.
It'll do anything it takes to make sure I play it the way it wants to be played, even if it that means breaking the rules of the game itself.
The story takes precedence over the game.
For me the result is zero investment in playing the story, I'll just do whatever it tells me to do because if I deviate just one bit it'll either ignore my input or give me an instant game over. It doesn't help that even without auto aim the game's still too easy.
Even tightly scripted games like Uncharted give me more freedom than story missions in RDR2.
There's plenty of game in the open world, but the core of the game and turning it into an interactive cutscene.
Worse is, the wannabe movie that is the story mission clashes brutally with the game itself. Every battle you kill 30 men but in the story a few cops are enough to keep you from getting some money. You travel less than two minutes and characters talk about how far away they've moved.
This is common in games but RDR2 makes that contrast obvious every other cutscene.
All that said the world, the writing and the combat are all great. It's a shame the core of the game is made dull in its attempt to be a movie.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.

I used to be an Armorer in the US Army. (I was the person in charge of securing and maintaining all the weapons)
I was stationed overseas at a base that only had one arms room, and I was the guy who ran it, so instead of just being responsible for the weapons in my unit, I was responsible for all the weapons in the entire post.
On paper, that's a job that's supposed to be done by an E6 with a two person support staff. In reality the position was chronically short staffed. It was just me, as an E4, doing the job of three people.
Because the position was critical to the operations of a bunch of different units (including things like PsiOps and Special Forces where everything about them is classified by default, and joint operations with the navy and air force, and a few foreign militaries who were working with the US), I had to get a security clearance that was higher than everyone else in my own unit. As far as I knew, there were only 4 other people on the post with clearance high enough to do what I did, and they were all officers. (This led to some amusing situations where I was accidentally called for security briefings that were way above my pay grade.)
That sucked because I was on call all the time, and had to go to work anytime anyone needed a weapon. Being on call was supposed to be a duty rotation, but I was the only one who could do it. So I slept in the arms room a lot.
I wanted to make sure I had as little to do as possible so I got very good at my job. How good? During an army wide review of the entire supply chain, my post was found to be the best run arms room in the entire army. I won a medal and everything.
Then we had a change in command, and the new captain hated that I didn't have to go on training exercises because I wasn't allowed to be more than 30 minutes away from the arms room, ever.
The Compliance-
The new Captain was absolutely determined to take me on a training mission. She'd somehow gotten it into her head that I was a slacker (which I absolutely was, but only because I was efficient and pissed off that I never got to leave the base).
So she drew up a bunch of paperwork to sign the arms room over to the supply sergeant.
I refused to sign, because the person with all the ammo and the person with all the guns are supposed to be different people
Next she tried to sign the arms room over to the PsiOps company commander. I refused to sign because that commander had become a friend of mine so

Posting from a throwaway just in case my husband or any of my family and friends reads this. I'm going to change a few details because I'm paranoid but the story is the same.
I am a saleswoman and I do very well for myself.
My husband I have been married for two years now and together for five. This is my first marriage and my husband's second.
He has an 8 year old daughter from his previous relationship and has always had full custody of her. Our dating life was tricky with him being a full time single dad and having to work long hours but we made it work.
I met his daughter when she was 4 after we had been dating for a year. I liked her very much and have always done my best to be the best stepmommy ever.
She calls me "mom" and I have done all the mom things for her. I've helped her get dressed and ready for school, done her hair, cooked her meals, helped with homework and soccer practice, taken her for ice cream dates, tucked her into bed, read her stories, etc.
I'm not perfect and I've made mistakes but overall we've been a very happy family.
When my husband and I got engaged he asked if I would like to be a stay at home mom for "Lizzy" and any future children we had. At the time I politely declined. I was doing well in my career, loved going to work and the thought of being home all day with a kid and doing nothing but housework and typical SAHM things didn't really tickle my fancy.
My (then) fiance was gracious and we BOTH assumed that was how it would be for any future children we had.
Fast forward to now and I am now 6 months pregnant with our son. I am on cloud 9. I was (am) always in a permanent state of bliss. And something in me changed.
I started thinking about being a SAHM. And suddenly, it didn't seem so bad. I am in love with my son and want to spend as much time with him as I can. I know it's not all roses and champagne, there is actually a lot of poop, drool, screaming and exhaustion involved but I can't really stand the thought of having two weeks maternity leave and then handing my son to a stranger in daycare.
I've been thinking about this for MONTHS because I wanted to make sure this was something I REALLY wanted and not wishful thinki

"Perhaps you could accompany us?"
Captain Amanda Trent knew that Jennifer couldn't hear the inflection in her voice over the simple digital transmission, but she still used her best diplomatic tone. The Thunder had orders to defend the colony of Avalon. It wasn't under attack yet, so far as anybody knew, but navy intel thought it was a likely target. Cpt. Trent had also been ordered to try to convince the creature, Jennifer, to go with them. Whether command hoped to involve her in the fight, or just get her out of the home system, they didn't say.
"Sure, why not? You guys are the only humans I know, anyway."
Not even a token resistance. Apparently Jennifer was unperturbed about going into a possible warzone with an unknown foe. Given how easily she'd subdued the Thunder perhaps her confidence was justified. Or maybe she had an ulterior motive. Whatever the case, orders were orders, and that was one thing off the list.
"Avalon is 42 lightyears from here. The trip will take three weeks by ripple drive, and if it isn't obvious from the size difference, you can't hitch a ride with us. Will you be able to make your way there?"
"Three weeks to go 42 lightyears is a bit shit, isn't it? I can't hitch with you, but you could hitch with me. We'd be there in moments."
Amanda had seen the way Jennifer moved. Arriving in the solar system through a swirling purple and black portal of some kind. Then using another one to move herself directly behind the Thunder to disable it.
Was she really considering putting the Thunder through an untested type of FTL travel, at the hands of an enormous space squid she'd only met today? Arriving three weeks early could mean the difference between defending the colony and losing it. Refusing Jennifer's offer also wasn't a great way to build trust.
"Very well, that sounds like it will be interesting. Has Lt. Tran explained our coordinate system to you?"
"He has. Heliocentric coordinates. A bit parochial, no?"
"Perhaps, but once people get used to something it is hard to change. Transmitting the coordinates with this message." With a flick of her finger Cpt. Trent committed the Thunder to Jennifer's care.
The main screen showed the gateway swirl into existence. In a moment it grew to be far larger than the ship. Large enough, presumably, to a

I thought I'd post a separate update, considering how much attention this post has received and how far it spread across the internet. I never expected a post on /r/NFA to go so far. I expected, a most, a dozen or so comments and that my message I sent to Chad on facebook might get a response and confirmation that my experience was a mistake.
Chad Wiley reached back out to me on Facebook and Josiah and Jamin, the owner, have both posted over on AR15.com. They have all insisted that my experience should never have happened, that there is no such policy in place, and that as best they can tell, the RSOs picked up bad info from an NRA instructor. Below is from Chad.
>I guess there was a period when a few RO's took an NRA course and that's what the NRA taught at the time. This is NOT written company policy. It was dealt with across the company this AM.
Jamin posted the below on AR15.com

We have 1700 employees and we canβt control what all of them say or do. They are imperfect people just like us. However, we love them as employees and couldnβt do what we do without them, just like we love our customers.

>I looked into this also, apparently an NRA instructor put this out at an RSO class we sent some RSOs to. It is not a company policy. We are getting with our RSO today to make sure they understand that.
I have seen many others comments that they have had similar experiences at several PSA stores. Hopefully PSA management has really hammered the point home and it will no longer be an issue for anyone going forward. I do appreciate PSA as a company, not for what they've done for the industry, their retail stores have been a blessing for gun owners in SC, where they force all the others to improve or die.
Also, thank you everyone who reached out in private chats and comments. I think about a dozen or so people must have let me know they were contacting owners and managers on my behalf.
Nothing, he was gladiator.
