A list of puns related to "Guitar bracing"
Hai! I'm planning an acoustic build. My first acoustic build, so I'm really in the dark about some aspects. My question is about the bracing. I'm planning to do a classical/Spanish guitar, so I've decided on the bracing used by Torres. Someday I'll be experimenting with different bracing paterns, but not yet. Anyway, when shaping/carving the braces, what is it exactly that you look for? When you tap, what is it you listen for? I've heard some people say that the main goal is to reduce weight while keeping stifness(is that correct?), but how do you determine the point where you need to stop while carving the bracing?
Guitar player of 25+ years here. I haven't seen too much about this here or anywhere I think. The obvious application of this for a beginner is barre chords. But I was just now playing a solo melody line that required some bends/vibrato with the middle and index fingers, and realized I wasn't hardly clamping with my thumb at all. Instead, I had the upper hip of the guitar in the fleshy (flabby) part of my forearm about 2 inches out from the crook of my elbow, and the back of the guitar braced against the right side of my ribcage as a fulcrum. Try this next time your thumb gets tired!
Hey guys,
How can I determine if my newly gifted guitar is x or v bracing? 2013 Taylor 313ce
Thanks!
As fate would have it my stimulus check came in the same time I found a great deal on my dream guitar. Picked up this baby for $1999 on Reverb. It was the display model and is practically in mint condition.
This guitar has been my ideal for a few reasons: tonewood (I've really been wanting a Sitka/rosewood combo for some time), V class bracing (love the overtones on these newer Taylor's), and of course the price point. I don't think I'll ever want to spend more than 4k on a guitar so this is as close as I'll get to a 914ce π .
Can anyone tell me what difference the amount of bracing makes to top? I mean starters are normally 3 and more expensive 5-7 braces in the traditional fan system. I am guessing a bit more expressiveness right?
Hey guys. Im at a loss. I can get the 2016 version of the 524ce. But the New v-Bracing is on the newer models.
Do I buy the x-class or do I get the New v-class? I can't try it out before buy.
What i think is that x-Bracing is tested out and perfected through the years. V-Bracing is innovative.
Im a fingerstyle percussion player, so I kinda fear the lack of Bass in v-Bracing wich many describe.
Pls help me with all your thoughts and experiences on this matter. I would much apreciate it.
I'm working off of a Martin kit and the x bracing I've been given has already been notched to fit together, when I put this bracing on my top it doesn't reach the edge and there is a considerable gap between the side of the guitar and the bracing. Is this ok and a style of bracing or is something wrong here? Http://imgur.com/9jwadgA
I'll admit that when I bought my Taylor 110 I was not that informed about acoustic guitar construction & bracing. I noticed recently that my taylor has no bracing on the inside back of the guitar where most acoustics I see do have this bracing. Is there any downside to having an acoustic without bracing on the back?
Hey Everyone.
I bought a Taylor not much more than 3 months back and one of the braces on the inside snapped. The guitar was not displaying any of the typical signs of dehydration so I do not know what may have caused this.
Is this dangerous damage that will effect the guitar in any significant way? Worth getting fixed? I registered the guitar so I believe it was some warranty of sorts. I did not drop it or anything like that.
Thanks for any help, I'm really worried.

Brace I have gets in the way of grabbing the neck, but it does help with not bending my wrist.
