AITA for being upset that I’m not involved in my brothers wedding which I am paying for?
I (F31) have a brother (M29) and he is getting married next year. We lost our Mum in 2012 and our Dad in 2016. We are each others only living relatives. I have a good job, I earn a lot of money (£150,000 per year). My brother also has a good job, but doesn’t earn anywhere. near as much (£35,000). We we raised to always look after each other and share. My partner and I are child free.
Over the years I have paid for my brothers Masters degree, paid the down payment on his house (our parents rented, so there is no family home). I will also be paying for my future SIL (F26) and my brother to have future rounds of IVF. SIL works part-time and earns about 15k a year, her parents are not well off.
My brother asked if I could contribute to the cost of the wedding. I said I’d pay for it, as is is small with 100 guests, and set up a wedding account for them into which I put £25,000 which they both have access to.
SIL’s entire family are involved as bridesmaids and groomsmen. My husband and I are guests. Brother and SIL have been going around venues with her family, and I get emailed the costing if it’s selected.
I told my brother I don’t mind paying for the wedding but I feel really weird that everyone else is involved in the decision and I’m just involved with paying. Brother has said that I’m not our parents, I can’t replace our parents and that’s why I’m not involved. Why can’t I just do something nice without making him feel shit. I feel like an asshole for causing drama, but also feel taken advantage of. AITA?

UPDATE: This is in the UK, in Northern Ireland to be exact. 35k is a good salary. I don't have student debt to pay off because I didn't go to uni. I was in the military before becoming a commercial pilot. My brother's salary will increase as at his company, he needed a master's to progress beyond his current rung. SIL works part-time because she has a medical issue, she will never be able to work full-time because of this. Related - it is unclear if this is impacting fertility. | The Eagles defied the odds and clinched a playoff spot in week 17 when they completed their sweep of the Washington “Who cares what they are called”. The Eagles took care of business down the stretch knocking off a number of lowly teams to get to 9 wins and be able to rest key starters in week 18. They set up a meeting with their old friend Tom Brady and his Buccaneers down in Tampa for Wildcard Weekend. The Bucs easily took care of the Panthers in week 18 to secure the number two seed. While the game will be down in the Sunshine State, the weather looks to be anything, but sunny. The weather forecast is calling for rain and wind gusts between 20-30 mph which could favor the Eagles and their top ranked rush offense. But running against the Bucs big DL will be no easy task. Vita Vea has a huge size advantage over Kelce who he will most likely be lining up over in a 0 technique and while Ndamukong Suh is not the All-Pro he once was he is still a big body that can clog up the run game. If the Bucs sell out to stop the run it could be on Hurts to try to win it with his arm which could be difficult, especially with the weather. The Bucs have two guys they can match up on Goedert in Antoine Winfield Jr. and Lavonte David and they will get some pass rush help back with the return of JPP. Hurts will need to rely on his young WRs more to get open and quick. On the other side, Brady beat the Eagles with quick short throws earlier this season in a game where he was without Gronk, but while Gronk is back Brady has lost one of his favorite WRs Chris Godwin to an ACL tear and lost Antonio Brown to being crazy and probably running on the side of the road shirtless somewhere. With limited weapons the Eagles need to shutdown Evans with Slay and bracket Gronk. Playing tight with the predicted weather should help the Eagles slow down the Bucs passing attack, but they will still need to worry about the run game and Leonard Fournette who had two TDs against them in week 6. Should be an interesting matchup in the rain and the Eagles will make it really interesting if they can win the battle in the trenches. Go Birds! |

Shaheen was interested in both football and cricket during his younger days, but because of his Elder brother Riaz Afridi, SSA's interest peaked further into cricket.
Riaz Afridi is a medium fast bowler who retired in 2015 after only playing one international for Pakistan. A bit harsh on Riaz as he carries one of the most successful domestic careers all format wise for Pakistan's domestic circuit.
Riaz is also the eldest of the 7 brothers, while Shaheen is the youngest of the bunch.

Punt Rank Week 16 – an absentia apology
Well well, look who has come crawling back (spoiler: it's me). I am embarrassed to say that for the first time in four years of Punt Rank, I failed to file an update last week. I was travelling for Christmas and New Years - and faced with the choice of packing either my kids orrrrr the giant dedicated server that stores my punt archives and analysis bits and bobs into the trunk of my small family car, I chose the kids. In other Week 16 news (fraternal special edition) Johnny Townsend (41st in Punt Rank) was a generally poor replacement for his brother Tommy (2nd in Punt Rank) for the Chiefs while the latter was on the COVID list, which is (as far as my roughly six minutes of loosely thinking about this can tell) only the second instance of one sibling directly replacing another sibling at the same position. Anyone know the first one?!

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
