That was my first reaction- no more sitting on my ass collecting MEMO and just shilling on the side, now I have to join discord again, comment, bring issues forward, analyze shit, vote, THINK! So, I though---shit- I finally landed my first crypto gig!
Do I miss just lounging in King Dani's lap? Kinda- but maybe this will bring better ideas forward, for the benefit of our Wonderland ecosystem. Thousands of brains will be smarter than one.
A few months ago with Moon Week we formalized the way proposals are presented to r/CC, promoted, and voted on. Moon Week has been a huge success, resulting in increased participation in voting and governance brainstorming. The increased participation and implementing Moon Week has highlighted some room for improvement on the steps from brainstorming, leading up to the formal governance polls.
So, today I am putting forward a draft version of what I am envisioning for the governance process. My hope is that it will clarify the process for people, guide them towards creating successful proposals with productive discussion and feedback, and help mods give feedback and organize our role in the system. First check the FAQ, Governance Queue, and search to see if your topic has been discussed before. If it has been discussed before, take note of any objections from mods and other users such as if it is technically possible, any critical flaws, or loopholes it introduces.

If your idea is new or improves upon a previous idea in a way that overcomes prior objections, create your post in r/CryptoCurrencyMeta with the “Idea” flair. If you are improving upon a previous idea, reference the prior discussion(s) and make it clear how you have resolved the issues. The purpose of this post is to solicit initial feedback, so while it doesn’t need to have every detail nailed down, you should try to communicate a solid framework of what you’re envisioning. Try to anticipate questions and think critically about your idea to strengthen it. Before moving on to the next step, you may submit as many iterations of your idea as is appropriate, so long as it is progressing in a meaningful way and your previous post is no longer on the frontpage.

Use the “Create an RFC” template on the sidebar of r/CryptoCurrencyMeta (coming soon). This will format your Request for Comments in a standard way, with a summary, problem statement, suggested solution, and concerns. This will act as the rough draft to your final proposal. It will require manual approval by a moderator, who will review it and let you know

📣 Everlend Governance & Risk Framework.
👉Read about how the Everlend DAO will decide about which money market to aggregate, risk parameters, fee splits, etc. These governance decisions have consequences on third parties (Everlend users) since they determine the risks they face and how protected they are if/when these risks play out.
Risk parameters are particularly important since Everlend inherits the risks of the protocols it integrates.
Below I outline a proposed modern democracy framework that could be used to govern the IOTA Community Treasury and DAO/DAOs. This framework is a first cut of an idea. It is not proposed in its entirety, and each area can/should be improved upon and evolved through open discourse.
This proposed framework can be used by the community to identify important issues to the IOTA community, create a participatory budget through community collaboration as well as online consensus forming around finalized proposals. Inclusion, community engagement and robust public discourse are the best ways to have a fully open and representative system. Parts of this framework were used in Canada to draw up a new national action plan for Mental health.
- Citizens Assemblies brought together quarterly to identify important issues, projects, proposals within the IOTA ecosystem: 100 people selected representative of the country as a whole (Age, gender, ethnicity, etc) - in our case it can start with a randomized selection of token holders across the spectrum of total tokens held (e.g. 1-100 Mi,100-999Mi, etc). These could take place virtually over 1 month (a few hours a week). Each participant will:
- Volunteer for participation
- Paid for their time
- Be kept anonymous
- Be given a virtual 1 day training on open discussion of issues
- Time to discuss their issues (A few hours a week commitment for ~4 weeks through virtual workshops and facilitation)
- Participatory Budgeting used to determine the weighting of the quarterly budget allocated to each project/proposal: The community publically debates the trade offs across each initiative. Then through firefly, the top X suggestions are then pushed up and out to the whole network for consensus. Each IOTA holder can vote to accept or reject each proposal and their associated budget. This is an iterative process and any proposal that is rejected, simply moves back to step 1 in the following quarter to be further discussed by the community.
