A list of puns related to "Genu valgum"
When I went to learn weightlifitng, a coach in my town told me that I suffered from genu valgum. Basically my knees touch each other when I keep my legs together, and my feet dont touch each other. I don't believe it's a muscle imbalance (but I'm sure I have imbalance caused by the knocked knees( and more about how my bones have aligned.
He told me that he wouldn't have me do the weightlifting movements, as it can cause uneven pressure of my knee and it's good for me to do anything with jumping movements that impact my knee. What he says makes logical sense when I think about it, and I hate it.
I can't find this information anywhere else to prove him right or wrong. Is he correct? Should I stay away from learning/doing weightlifting movements? Just stick to normal squats and strength training?
Or can I still healthily be able to perform these lifts as the weight goes higher?
Iβve got a minor case of knock knees (doctors said to leave it because it causes no impact to day to day life). I did recently dislocate my kneecap, and had to get surgery to remove a small piece of cartilage that got knocked off. Nothing is supposed to be permanently impaired. Is this usually waivable? Or am I screwed?
I was diagnosed genu valgum like ten years ago. I underwent surgery to succesfully correct it. Still, my legs are prone to hyperextension, and I notice that I feel a little discomfort when I execute poses that require my legs to be extended (f.e. Uttanasana, Adho Mukha). I try to do it with my knees slightly bent, but I'm curious if I will be able to do it properly some day.
Okay, so Iβve always been a person who hated or was insecure of her dancing ever since I begged my mother to quit ballet class when I was 7 years old. I never liked the way I couldnβt coordinate my lower half to my upper half easily. Recently though Iβve had a newfound appreciation for dancing and decided to work on it this quarantine.
Now Iβve learned to stretch properly, especially my hips, and my range of my hips is much better. But just now I find that my knees, no matter how much I stretch, feel weak and really drag my footwork. I find it hard to turn quickly, and to lower my body. I also donβt like kneeling down and going up quickly. Iβve always wondered if my knock knees could be hindering me? They are my number one insecurity as they are most likely genetic (Iβm relatively unfit but not overweight) and only surgery might fix them. I feel like Iβve always made my knees my excuse to never approach dancing seriously and I want to change that. I hope to hear from people who also have knock knees.
I was really obese when I was younger and people have commented that I walk like a penguin. Now that I lost my weight I found myself still walking like that. That was when I discovered I had Genu Valgum or knee-knock. I think the deformity likely caused by prior excess weight that had exerted too much force on my knees
What could be done about this? I don't want to get surgery because it is rather expensive
I have slight knock-knees & flat feet (over pronation) that make my posture suck and makes long distance running painful the older I get. I want to correct this.
Everything I've looked up basically points at getting corrective insoles to fix my flat feet that will in turn correct my knock knees.
however I'm concerned that it might not fix my knee issues and be a waste of time and money for the simple fact that when I extend one leg (sitting or standing, so that the foot doesn't touch the ground) my knee STILL goes inward. If this knee issue was caused by a flat foot, wouldn't the knee straighten itself out in this position?
Ideal legs have their own standards of beauty: they should be straight, knees, feet and calves should close up forming three spaces. Such a standard is important not only from an aesthetic, but also from a medical point of view. Any deviations can be harmful to health. If only the knees close up and the feet diverge to the sides, the orthopedist diagnoses valgus deformity. How to live with such a diagnosis and what kind of treatment Ladisten clinic can offer is described in our article.
Hey fittit,
Well there isn't much more to it than what I've described in the title. I have a hard time sitting cross legged because it hurts and it's been that way since I was a kid. I also used to 'W sit' when i was little according to my parents. I also have very flat feet. Dunno if any of that info is useful.
Any advice would be appreciated - it's just aesthetically displeasing to look at, that is the main reason I'm asking.
Thanks!
Is there anyway to help reverse it? It's only on my right leg because I injured my left leg a while back. My left is fine now
I fear I might have Genu Valgum as my legs are not straight and they bend inwards, also I have collapse arches in my feet, and my knee and toes are facing towards different directions(duck feet) and I think I have Osteoarthritis in my left knee. Now those problem don't really affect my daily activities but my left knee really hurts sometime, for example i'm sitting on a chair and lay my feet on the ground my left knee start really hurting after 10-15 min or so and in order to relief the pain I need to stretch my leg until I hear a 'click' sound and the pain is relieved. I also hear cracking noises and can feel them in my knee when I bend my leg, and iv'e noticed that my right knee can withstand more weight than my left knee(for example I can stand resting only on my right leg for a certain period of time, but if I try standing on my left leg my knee gives up quickly) which led me to believe I have knee osteoarthritis.
As I said these problems don't really affect me except the knee pain, but its more of an issue to my self confidence as it seems 2 of those problems combined make me walk in a really funny way(genu valgum and duck feet). I went to see a doctor and he prescribed me Arch support for my feet which don't really seem to fix anything. I don't know what to do and I have no idea if what i'm reading online will actually help me. Any kind of help from someone who knows his stuff will be greatly appreciated
I had a surgery performed on both knees (genu valgum), this was about 7 years ago, I am completely fine but I've always been advised against hiking, particularly for the downhill bits.
I wanted to get into hiking, and plan on doing so, I'll just see how it feels. Would any of you advise me to not do it?
I still have the metal pieces on my knees and it can become noticeable and a bit bothersome when doing things like squats or lunges. I wonder if hiking will have a similar effect, if it does, should I drop it?
I really don't think that any pain would deter me from actually hiking, but I really do not want to cause long term damage to my body just because right now I'm in my 20s and can shoulder the pain.
I'm trying to do some research on my knees and I keep getting knocked knees. My ankles still touch and my legs are aligned, I just have knees that bend inwards and it hurts when I'm active for too long.
Does anyone know what the name of that specific problem is called?
This is the first time i have gotten into a fitness routine in a very long time just taking it slow right now but one big problem i have is a certain degree of knock knees or genu valgum and I'm scared of doing stuff like squats, lunges, or burpees because i definitely don't want to damage my knees. What should i do in terms of getting a even workout for my whole body? Is there a safer alternative to squats? Or should i see a sports doctor? My current routine is very simple as i am so out of shape here it is below:
kneeling shoulder length pushups 3 sets of 6
Plank 3 sets of 15 seconds
lying down leg raises 3 sets of 10
dumbell bicep curl and shoulder press 3 sets of 10 each
I do this whole routine 3 times a week spaced out so i have the recovery days in between for muscle to grow? (is that correct btw? I heard some people do planks and pushups everyday). Please let me know your thoughts on what i could add and what would be safe for my knees, thanks guys.
Edit: Wow... so much awesome advice here i don't know where to start! Thankyou so much everyone I really appreciate everyone of your responses! :D
Hello smart and kind people!
If an obese pediatric patient develops knock-knees (genu valgum) during adolescence, will the knee misalignment resolve without intervention, after if the child loses and maintains a normal weight? Or do you need some kind of intervention: vitamin D, exercises, etc.
Thank you!
Howdy yall, 2 more years till enlisting and I have no idea, neither have my 'research' given me any clarity to my doubts. So I'm here, looking for answers.
So basically I've got genu valgum, aka knee scoliosis, and to correct it, my specialist advised for me to go through a full knee osteotomy, with a rather long downtime ( 3-6 months to walk, about 12 months for high impact activities ). And because I can't afford it on my own, I was advised to get it during NS where I would recieve a rather substantial subsidy.
With this in mind, does anyone have any idea on the potential impact on my 'NS Career'? Also would I be able to get it from start of enlistment or in the middle? Will I not be able to perform duties during recovery or??? Just really concerned here...
First time posting on this sub, I believe I may have Klinefelter's and I have read the pinned post, yet there were some things which I believe weren't addressed.
So I've been to a doctor and I've managed to test my testosterone levels and they came back as 550 ng/dl, he said that this was normal but for context I'm 19 years old and in my case they should be way higher.
My body looks very similar to what the typical images depicting Klinefelter's look like, I even have long legs and knock knees ( genu valgum ) and long arms and small hands. I have some chest hair ( I've observed it's as much as some of my class mates, but very irregular ). Another thing is puffy nipples, yet no actual firm brest tissue. I seem to have normal sized testicles, but unfortunately I haven't been to a urologist to confirm. I have a pretty high libido. Both of my parents are around 5 ft 10, and I'm 6ft 1.
Here's where things get interesting, for the most part I've eaten pretty garbage food for the better part of my childhood ( mainly sweets and pasta ) which could have messed up my hormones and contributed to my current state. I also never exercised, I was completely stationary. I've never really had issues reading but some issues concentrating, and I've always preferred to talk to adults ( another thing to consider is I'm fairly smart which could also explain my behavior ).
I'm sorry if my thought process is chaotic, I've been trying to figure out what my diagnosis is, my doctor said Klinefelter's is unlikely but further research suggests that there exists some genetic mosaicism form of Klinefelter's, and all of this is slightly overwhelming for me.
I don't know how to approach this situation, should I go to a urologist and endocrinologist? Get a spermatogram?
I can't take a karyotype test, because it's too expensive but if it's absolutely necessary, should I?

In April, I had a second successful hip revision surgery. The revisions were to replace recalled hip implants. After the second surgery, my knee appeared to be damaged/injured. Previously straight and pain-free, albeit arthritic with no symptoms of such, the knee now exhibits genu valgum nor can it be extended fully. It is extremely painful and the joint on the inside of the leg appears misshapen. Also I suddenly have a baker's cyst. The MRI shows a meniscus tear, stress fracture, and effusion. My surgeon's office says that this points to age-related arthritis and not to an acute injury (twisting or torquing). I have no doubt that I have arthritis; however, I have never had knee pain and have always been able to kneel and squat down without any problem and my leg has always been as straight as an arrow. Basic logic dictates that something occurred during the hip surgery to damage the knee.
The PA insists it's arthritis only and gave me a cortisone injection. I am 9 weeks post-op and my leg is deformed and I am still only able to walk a few feet on it. I believe that by walking on it I may be exacerbating a bigger problem. If there was damage done during surgery, then I believe my surgical group should be responsible for fixing my knee; however, we need to remain on good terms since they are involved in the surgeries due to the recall.
So four questions: Firstly, what do I do when I am in disagreement with the PA's assessment? Secondly, how do I get past the PA in order to have a conversation with the surgeon? Any attempt to speak exclusively with the surgeon just elicits a response from the PA. Thirdly, can heretofore symptomless arthritis in a joint cause sudden onset of severe deformity and pain? Fourthly, if an injury did occur while the leg was manipulated during surgery, how do I prove it?
18F (trans man but still pre-hormones), 163cms, 48kgs, black african, living in kuwait. primacy complaint is severe thigh pain and loss of control over a part of the right leg, it's been there for about 3 days now. i did not take any vaccine or injection for anything since 2019. my father has diabetes and high blood pressure, and both of my parents have a bmi of 34-35, and my entire family, at some point, develop disk herniation and terrible knee problems. i do NOT work out and live an extremely sedentary life. i suspect i have mild genu valgum but that is only a suspicion and i am in no way a medical worker. It started suddenly 3 days ago, the muscles of the upper half of my right leg started hurting so much (a diagram of the muscles of the thigh showed that the area that's hurting is where the rectus femoris and vastus medialis muscles are located) , the same tense, burning pain you feel in your abdominal muscles when exercising. whenever i try to walk using my right leg too, it doesn't work. i just fall. it seems as if it suddenly can't support my weight, and my ankle (the area of the ankle all around, kinda like the wrist) turns extremely red and my foot turns a lifeless grayish color. it's probably some sort of blood circulation issue, my pharmacist mother told me it may be a constricted vessel that supplies the legs and feet and for some reason vitamin D deficiency, but ofc i need the opinions of the docs on here. thank you in advance.
Iβm 6β3β, I have genu valgum, I have low T. So KS seemed to be a match. I got a karyotype done, and what do you know, it comes back negative. Still, Iβm not convinced. According to the fine print, karyotypes do not rule out low-level mosaicism (sub-6% if I understand correctly). Does anybody here have low-level mosaicism? How did you find out? I just feel like thereβs something going on here. My proportions donβt make sense and my hormones are out of whack.
Thanks for reading.
Hi everyone,
Here is my situation : a week ago I decided that I would start running. Gyms are closed in my country and I can't handle exercising in my parents house or my appartement. However my parents have a lake next to their house. It is 700m (0.44 miles) long.
Last Monday through Friday I went out once a day and walked/ran three laps (total 2,1km/1.3 miles). On the Thursday I almost managed to run an entire lap! I couldn't even run a third of one at the beggining. The slight improvement really motivates me to continue.
My goal is to be able to run a 5k by the end of August 2021 (before that, my goal was weight loss but focusing on it was detrimental to my mental health...).
Either way I have a few questions :
I would really enjoy any type of tips from former (or not) overweighted and obese people. What did you wish you did/knew when starting.
Here are extra informations :
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual
So check out r/jokes for all types of jokes
r/unclejokes for dirty jokes
r/3amjokes for real weird and alot of OC
r/cleandadjokes If your really sick of seeing not dad jokes in r/dadjokes
Punchline !
Edit: this is not a post about NSFW , This is about jokes, knock knock jokes, blonde jokes, political jokes etc being posted in a dad joke sub
Edit 2: don't touch the thermostat
Do your worst!
Slightly NSFW, but looking at my legs, I notice my ankles kind of point outward a bit and the knee looks a bit misaligned. My feet point outward slightly when I walk, although i don't know if this constitutes as duck feet or knock knees as it doesn't seem that severe. With my toes pointed forward, my legs just look super weird in my opinion:

How the hell am I suppose to know when itβs raining in Sweden?
Mathematical puns makes me number
Ants donβt even have the concept fathers, let alone a good dad joke. Keep r/ants out of my r/dadjokes.
But no, seriously. I understand rule 7 is great to have intelligent discussion, but sometimes it feels like 1 in 10 posts here is someone getting upset about the jokes on this sub. Let the mods deal with it, they regulate the sub.
They were cooked in Greece.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
