A list of puns related to "Gameshow (magazine)"
But I absolutely love it, "Tonight on Dares Of Eternity"
Been 1 hour and still no solved so I'll give a hint every hour.
Hint 1:Genre is dark comedy
Is it just me that's sick of seeing celebs invading gameshows? I get the altruistic reasons for them doing so, although more than a hint of self-promotion is thrown in for good measure to keep them relevant.
I'd much rather root for Johnny Average to win a life-changing sum of money.
Am I alone?
It's been a while since I last watched Saturday night TV - hence the question/moan/observation.
Supermarket Sweep.
Following on from a conversation with my fiancΓ©, I wondered if anyone here has ever been on a gameshow, and did you win anything?
Hello all contestants and welcome to Ragtime Dandies: The Periphery Gameshow! Today we will be focusing on trivia in the form of questions. For every correct answer you will receive upvotes, for every wrong answer well ... too bad! One question/ answer per user. The time is ticking good luck!

edit: Thanks all for participating it was fun!
You are a genius! I don't think I've had this much fun just hearing the dialogue for an activity before.
So, here's my take on what a crypto gameshow, called Rugpull, would sound like...
A little bit of the rules needed.
Premise of the game, 3 players and object is outlast the other 2 contestants and gain funds. There are 15 random "coins" worth various monetary values. Players answer various Blockchain/crypto related trivia questions, similar to Jeopardy style buzzer play, but the person who answers would then pick a coin from the "wall". Each round they're are "RUGPULL" traps behind random coins, with each round having more.
Now the rug pull doesn't put you out of the game. It knocks your funds to 0. Try to finish each round with the most funds, or you're eliminated. Winner gets to select from 5 coins in an attempt to win double the $$$ won already n the Rugpull round, where only 1 coin is worth money. In this round the players gets 2 questions, each able to remove 1 rugpull from the 5.
Picking up in round two:
Announcer Crypto Carl: Alright folks! Welcome back to RUGPULL. Last round was exciting. We lost Henry who couldn't manage to avoid those rugpulls in round 1. But we have Mary and Ken here, just waiting to increase their portfolios. Ken squeaked in to the lead at the end of round 1 with a hidden diamond 10x value which put Mary behind by a few thousand dollars. Alright contestants, are you ready?
K & M "You bet we are Carl!"
CC: Alright, here's your first question of round 2. What does Defi stand for?" Ken rings in first
K: Decentralized Finance!
CC: Correct!. Pick a coin Ken!
K:Can I get...Huka coin please Carl?
CC: Let's see what's behind that Huka....we have $2500. Congratulations Ken.
K: Thanks Carl, I got diamond hands baby.. no rugpulls here, yeah!
M: (rolls eyes at diamond hands comment)
CC: Alright here's question number two. What is the name of the original cryptocurrency that started it all? M buzzed in.
M: BITCOIN!
CC: Yes Mary, it was Bitcoin that started it all...pick out your next coin.
M: Hmmm....how about Kush Coin Carl
CC: You got it Mary! Oh ..... Your first rugpull.. that's gotta hurt. Okay, there's still 4 rugpulls on the board this round. Here comes your next question...
British gameshow that had similar vibes to Golden balls. I remember seeing a few episodes on youtube years ago. Probably from the 2000s
Every episode there was a new batch of four contestants. Theyβd stand around a table and had to work as a team and try to solve different trivia questions. At some point they could vote someone out who they thought wasnβt helping the team.
At the end of the episode they had to decide who among the team would receive the grand prize, which led to some tense moments. I think if they couldnβt agree, no one received anything.
Random question thinking about the couple who won half a million on Ant & Dec's Limitless Win last night. I know winnings are tax-free too so holy heck that's a life-changing sum!
I'm guessing it's not that simple to go on these shows (Luck as a factor in applications? Travelling to London?), but I'm just curious how 'appearing on a game show' all works haha.
If I were to go on one I'd like to play Catchphrase tbh!
Basically, GSN is the game show network, it's this channel that, well, plays gameshows, they play stuff like family feud and old match game and deal or no deal episodes, but most of thier lineup is the GSN originals, and i belive they are better than the big name ones.
First up is america says: America says is akin to family feud: 2 freind groups/family groups/other groups made of 4 people try to guess the top 7 responses to a prompt, diffrence is its rapid fire, with 30 seconds to guess the awnsers, as opposed to the slowness of family feud. Also you get the starting letter and word length as hints, making it easier to play along with at home
Second up is people puzzler, which in long story short is people trying to solve crossword puzzles on tv. It sounds boring, but its suprisingly fun to watch. Basically they pick a catagory, and then each go they pick a thing on a cross word (say 1 down) then they get a letter of that word and a clue to guess it. Its simple and very fun to watch.
There are others, but these are the 2 best ones imo. The only bad GSN original is catch 21, a mash up of trivia and blackjack where nobody lets the host finish thier question and it seems everybody wants to rush to the blackjack part. But aside from that they are all good and better than say family feud
I think I'd do pretty well on Hunted or Total Wipeout.
I'd be crap at The Weakest Link but think it'd be pretty fun!
Jeepardy
Idea: Each player gets 3 (maybe 5 to be safe) pregen contestants with funny names. I play the 'Dungeon Master' as a mix of Comic Book Guy and Gameshow Announcer. Sarcastic but not hostile, breaking the fourth wall. When a character dies, they get replaced at the next logical point. If there is a TPK everyone grabs a character and returns to the start (but not reset, doors are open, traps are springed, etc).
Which edition should I run? Obviously we live in 5e land and I can easily get the Tales from the Yawning Portal book. Does it lose the OSR 'make a mistake and you are dead' aspect?
Should I run an older edition with B/X or an OSR system?
What is your advice for an evening or two of slapstick deaths, devilish puzzles and 'tons of gold and prizes'?
Context: this is for Role Playing Club. We play pretty much everything except for D&D. 5e is easier since I own most of it even though I do not run it and 2 members are in a weekly D&D 5e game.
