Show notes:
Gad Saad is a Professor of Marketing at Concordia University, author of The Consuming Instinct and, more recently, The Parasitic Mind: How Infectious Ideas Are Killing Common Sense. Self described as the 'Gadfather' with a podcast called the Saad Truth, he's certainly well versed in puns on his name. But is Prof. Saad the true Godfather of evolutionary consumption as he claims? or is he more of a Fredo, perpetually getting passed over for other Gurufathers?
Gad is worried about parasitic brain worms that are influencing people's politics, though this affliction seems to correlate pretty strongly with all the liberal political views that Gad dislikes. Indeed, you won't find any discussion of MAGA or QAnon in his extensive bestiary of the pernicious brain-worms that can parasitise your mind. Rather it is 'Trump Derangement Syndrome' that has Gad fretting.
But it isn't all partisan politics, we also get to see Gad draws on his knowledge of evolutionary psychology and unparalleled 'surgical' satirical skills to 'castrate' his opponents. Get ready for a string of anecdotes in which Gad destroys postmodern ideologues with facts and logic, embarrasses pigeon brained academics, and teaches his soccer coach the true meaning of freedom... and then everyone stood up and called!

Actual fact: the 9/11 of reason n'a pas eu lieu
I first saw him on Joe Rogan a number of years ago and he has cashed in on the anti woke professor angle ever since.
I think it will be an entertaining episode

Gad might be baffled to hear that Biden's approval is around 55%. My favorite part about Gad is how he purports to represent the IDW which is about "free exchange of idea" and yet he immediately resorts to blocking individuals who do not concur with his "Trump is good" narrative.
My college class is meeting with Gad Saad next week to discuss his book βThe Parasitic Mindβ. Iβm hoping for suggested questions that may stimulate discourse on woke ideology. Thanks for your help!
The relevance here is that Gad Saad was a guest on the Waking Up podcast in 2016, and they had a slightly passive-aggressive run-in on Twitter over the last few days in the wake of Biden's victory. I'm at a loss to understand Saad's appeal, and I'm hoping either some of you may either confirm that he's insufferable and arrogant troll or explain to me why my view is wrong.
I must admit, around 2014-15, I started following Gad Saad on Twitter and Facebook and quite liked him back then. I appreciated his uncompromising stance on freedom of speech and his intolerance for bullshit and irrationality. However, over the last few years, particularly since Trump's election, he has drifted further and further to the right, to the point where he is now an indefatigable defender of Trump and critic of pretty much anything the left does. On top of this, he has become a self-aggrandizing, pompous asshole. Although he claims to stand for truth and reason (he's an academic after all, that's the least he should do), he constantly ridiculises, mocks, and belittles anyone on the left, often simply for expressing fairly mainstream progressive ideas. He never seems to be willing to engage in good-faith arguments. However, in the last 4 years, while relentlessly targeting democrats and the left, he has completely (as far as I know) spared Trump, whose every utterance is an affront to truth and reason. I don't recall a single time when Trump's pure moronism and inane declarations were the subject of Saad's insults. In addition, he'll block anyone who dares to raise these things.
Yet, he seems to have attracted quite a rabid following, with fans who seem to devour every single one of his poor attempts at humour. But he doesn't seem to have a particularly good standing in the academic community, or outside of his fan club. So what gives? Is there something I'm missing?
