A list of puns related to "French Republics"
I don't hate the French, and I know many people, including my Father, who have all been to the French Republic.

Nope. Even the slightest suggestion that you weren't 100 percent happy with the revolution almost guaranteed you a trip to the guillotine. It's a common myth that clergy and nobles were the only victims.

Wrong again. The revolution only spoke for a small percentage of specifically Parisian lower/middle class people. Outside of Paris the revolution was FAR from popular. There were counter revolutions to restore the monarchy (some of which lasted until 1800s) Even among the Paris revolution moderates were the dominant ideology until the radicals fear mongering and death threats convinced them to go along with them.

The exact opposite. The "Republic" immediately declared war on Austria, and the rest of Europe seeing France as the loose cannon dumpster fire it had become joined in. The Republic was the aggressor against the rest of Europe, conscripted the masses (many of whom did not support them) withheld pay and supplies from the soldiers they expected to die for them and paved the way for Napoleon (a more authoritarian figure than the king ever was) to take power.
Fuck the First French "Republic"
For some context, I translated into English (thanks to deepl) the resolution voted by the French Senate on NKR (the national assembly voted something similar, a little bit less explicit). This is a resolution, not a law: this is an official declaration on which the Senate tells its position on a matter, that does not compel the government. It has been voted unanimously (minus 1 vote) on the 25th of November 2020.
The Senate in France is known to be always moderate (some say watered-down) in its positions. Such a strong resolution is quite exceptional in its contents.

The Senate,
Having regard to Article 34-1 of the [1958 French] Constitution,
Having regard to the North Atlantic Treaty of April 4, 1949
Having regard to the ceasefire agreement of May 12, 1994,
Having regard to the ceasefire agreement of 9 November 2020,
Considering that the Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has multiplied in recent years, provocations, intimidations and threats against France, Europe or other countries;
Considering that the expansionist policy conducted by Turkey is a major factor of destabilization in the Eastern Mediterranean, the Near and Middle East, and now in the South Caucasus; considering that such destabilization constitutes a threat to the security of France and Europe as a whole;
Considering that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh is taking place on the borders of two particularly unstable regions of the world, the Caucasus and the Middle East, and that it also entails a risk of escalation potentially involving regional powers;
Considering that Turkey's military support for Azerbaijan is at the root of the aggression against the population of Nagorno-Karabakh that began on September 27, 2020; considering furthermore that Turkey has deployed mercenaries who have served in jihadist groups in Syria to the theater of operations as auxiliaries to the Azeri army;
Considering that the Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh, while under Azeri administration, was repeatedly subjected to organized massacres, in particular in Sumgait (25-27 February 1988), Kirovabad (23 November 1988), Baku (12-19 January 1990) and Maragha (10 April 1992);
Considering that the reports of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance of the Council of Europe (ECRI) and the Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination of the United Nations (CERD) attest to the impossibility of the Armenian population to l

France is that European country which has a long and stunning history but because they got addicted to French Revolution they are quick to abandon tradition, destroy everything, and start off from scratch every 50 years or so. To make a another analogy, French gothic cathedrals are covered in soot and are often barren, because while the structure remains, all the ancient medieval paintings are gone, whitewashed, and plastered with new plaster coating, the ruins of an ancient kingdom covered in cheap disposable plaster. France is one giant museum where ancient things are treated like museum pieces rather than actually, you know, being lived out, head over to Italy, or even England, and you can see traditional culture alive but in France it's just a bunch of university students in costumes prancing around.
This is the situation Iβm in right now, the Entente came in through Belgium and smashed the CoF, leaving me as Russia to finish mopping up the Reichspakt. Not too well-versed in Savinkovβs ideology, but Iβm assuming as a nationalist he would consider it to be a German territory; on the other hand, ceding it to a democratic France might be a sign of good faith to his new neighbours (note that the Halifax Conference failed, so they havenβt renounced their claim). On a related note, would he be more likely to Balkanize Germany or keep its core territory together?
In the 1790s, France was beset by a series of coups and periods of anarchy during which the Paris government's authority over the provinces was contested. What factors enabled the USA, a conglomerate of disparate states with varying degrees of loyalty to the union, to maintain a more stable form of government?
Starting in 1930, find a way for France to defeat Germany before their collapse.
The Securities and Exchange Commission today announced the approval of a substituted compliance determination order with respect to security-based swap dealers and major security-based swap participants (SBS Entities) subject to regulation in the French Republic (the French Order).Β This is the first determinationΒ that addresses substituted compliance in connection with the Commission's capital and margin requirements.
"Fridayβs action reflects the latest of the Commission's continued efforts to stand up Congressional mandates under Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Act and prepare for the registration of security-based swap dealers this fall,"Β said SEC Chair Gary Gensler. "In issuing the determination order, the Commission was guided by our commitment to protect investors, maintain fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and facilitate capital formation."

I believe this ties to this Friday night dump from the other day.
The Substituted Compliance Order
The French Order provides for conditional substituted compliance in connection with requirements under the Exchange Act regarding:
Consistent with rule 3a71-6, the availability of substituted compliance reflects the comparability of applicable French and EU requirements, taking into account the effectiveness of their financial supervisory and enforcement framework.Β The Order incorporates certain conditions and other limits to promote the comparabili
