PAST PLAYERS:

... keep reading on reddit β‘There's no getting around Lindor had an inauspicious start to his tenure with the Mets and his overall first year would be considered disappointing. But a lot of his struggles can be pegged more onto a terrible first month rather than an overall problem with the player. Breaking his season down...

Excluding that first month, we see him return close to all of his career norms with, most importantly, his power having no change.
I think the pressure of living up to a contract, league adjustment, change to new baseball, sticky stuff all could've played a part to that slow start. But with now a 300+ PA sample if you're the mets you have enough evidence, to be optimistic of Lindor's future.
Obviously his first season is NOT what we had hoped for or expected. My buddy who is a rather negative fan (i guess its kinda hard not to be right now) says βweβll never win with that Lindor contractβ, citing the disasters of the past like Bobby Bonilla, etc. He also loved to tell me that Lindorβs best years are behind him and thatβs why Cleveland got rid of him. I cant have this mindset of βweβll just never winβ cuz that just sucks and is depressing, and Lindor is 27 I believe he has plenty left in the tank to be a star for us.
I personally think Lindor is the best baseball player on this team and try not to even acknowledge the $341M. Dude has all the tools and the baseball IQ to make me want him on this team.
Iβve seen plenty of people complain about his contract, but Steve Cohen is loaded and you need to actually pay for good playersβ¦so Iβm curious as to your feelings on Lindor going forwardβ¦and by going forward I mean next year and beyond cuz this dumpster fire season is over.
Kinda cool, surprised it hasnβt happened before
