A list of puns related to "Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Toronto"
Was hoping to get some recommendations and advice from the hive mind and figured this would be the best place. I have a friend looking to purchase one of these on a private island in Belize, $3.5MM.
Does anyone have experience purchasing these types of residences? I know they have similar residence type properties all over Mexico but have never stayed in one personally.
Are they worth it as a straight investment when the hotel manages it? Is it pretty hands off? Is the value only there if you plan on using it frequently? Concerns on real estate ownership on Latin America (my understanding is it needs to be setup in a complicated corporation or trust)? Any other experiences or advice?
Like how is it even possible what are the type of peoples who buy them?what are their jobs? And is there a criteria to be a proprietary of a penthouse like that ? Sorry if it s out of the context of this thread
TL;DR: My friends and I recently spent one day at the Four Seasons Resort in Maui and tried to squeeze as much value as we can as Amex Platinum members.
After getting the vaccine, I was aching to go vacation somewhere. We ended up choosing Hawaii since most people can take days off and there were good point redemptions for hotels and airfares. After booking almost everything with points, I realized we didn't really "spend" any money. My friends are usually frugal travelers, but somehow I persuaded everyone that Four Seasons at Maui was a great deal since half of us had Amex Platinum and can get $200 off including FHR benefits. In the end we decided on going to the resort on our last day of our 10 day trip to relax.
When we made the reservation in July, we paid around $1000 including taxes per room with mountain view ($800 with FHR credit). Mind you the most expensive hotels we booked before this was probably in the $200s. We justified the price as a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and something we'll need to pay cash anyways if we decide try it out in the future, as FS doesn't have any reward structure.
A few days before checking in, we decided to take a look at resort activities to see how we can spend our $100/room credit. Some of us decided to make spa appointments and others made reservations for dinner and complementary activities (the outrigger canoe in the morning is a must-do!). It was a great idea in retrospect since most were fully booked when we arrived.
On check-in day, FHR reservations provide noon check-in when available, but we were too excided so we got there at 10:30 am. We were fully expecting to leave and explore Wailea if they can't accommodate. Surprisingly, even though our upgraded room (garden view with a bit of ocean) weren't available until noon, they took our luggage and provided us keys to a "check-in lounge". It's basically a small suite with coffee, chairs, changerooms and showers. They informed us that we can use the suite and explore the resort until our rooms are ready!
Just out of curiosity, we asked if there were any further room upgrades if we are willing to merge our reservations and/or pay a bit extra. They provided several relatively great offers but were waaay out of our price range. They offered us a 2000 sqft two bedroom suite with ocean views for an extra $2500 (it went $16k that day), or their presidential three bedroom suite for another $19k (it went for $35k that day).
Since FHR also provided 4pm guar

This is just a shitpost, not reporting anything of value here β but jesusβ¦ I just had to share this with you Apes. The magnitude of the sheer decadence these people live in: Mindblowing stuff.
Fun fact: When Shitadel treats its people to a night at the opera, they don't just buy front rows or premium loges. Instead they buy out the entire theatre.
It's all about perspective: This stuff would sound great if we were talking about an honest, play-by-the-rules organisation that invested in making the world a better place. Not a corrupt rat nest bent on driving great companies into the ground.
Anyway. Have a nice day, Apes. Remember why you are hodling. Don't get spooked by shills. Make sure you buy at various brokers. Get out of Robbing Hood. Next week we may moon βΒ if not, we'll moon soon.
