A list of puns related to "Flex temp"
Perhaps a dumb question but I've been leaving takeoff trim and flex temp blank on the MCDU but would like to calculate them for more realism and accuracy. I use simbrief for all my planning (the free version without navigraph) but I don't believe they calculate that for me lol.
Hi Everyone,
Stupid question time from ya boy shady. So I am running a Enhance 7660-b in my Velka 3 (Strix X570-i, 3600x, 2070 ITX) and after 1-2 hours of playing something something like Gears Tactics at 4k max settings the PSU is super hot to the touch. Is this level of heat under load expected from Flex psu's?
Thank you for your answers in advance. Asking to equal parts learn and quell my anxiety lol.
Hello all.
As some IRL pilots on here will confirm, a lot of flight decks use a tablet to input all aircraft performance and runway information into a program. These programs provide a detailed report of the performance envelope, taking into account weight, balance, weather, runway, fuel, cost, etc. Think of it as an extension to the FMC, take off speeds are displayed and applied to the specific runway from a database, but it also shows the flight deck what intersection of the runway they can take at the specific airport, and at what flex temp (thrust de-rate). For example, a full A320 will require the full runway and TO/GA at EGGW, but a lighter A320 might use a flex de-rate, and takeoff from intersection A, which is a shorter runway length.
A plugin or add-on like this would would be a decent, realistic addition in my opinion, and I'm not aware of anything out there that does it accurately. It would obviously need to have a huge database of airports with accurate information in order to capture the true realism.
There are some watered down flight deck plugins, but they're more for loading the plane itself, rather than analysing what performance is available with the load and conditions.
TL:DR Tablet software uses loadsheet info to advise flight deck of take off performance options. Mite b cool.
Just purchased a 03 Cadillac CTS. When looking at the car he said the sunroof didn't work but in reality the seal is all cracked and old and is most definitely leaking into the cabin as the carpet was damp all over. Normally wouldn't mess with a car like this but got an unbelievable deal on it. Haven't checked drain tubes yet as I'm waiting to get it to my dads shop but its currently sitting in my apartment complex.
I know flex tape is a really strong adhesive, but would anyone else recommend just sticking it on there for a few days? Expecting decent rain tomorrow so need something to "seal" it here soon.
Hello guys, i got the aerosoft bus and that one calculates it for itself. But most planes dont..
What are your guys solutions for calculating the flex temp?
Today's dose of internet includes two dazed toes of intern nettin' clued, stewed, hazed hoes offin' tern knittin glutes to day.
Iβve got a COBB FF kit, COBB fuel pressure sensor kit, GS EBCS, TGV deletes, DW fuel pump and just ordered a COBB TMIC kit. Planning on keeping the stock air box, but Iβm dropping in GS Drycon filter and also doing an EGR unplug as well. Looking for 360-380 WHP. Trying to figure whether a j-pipe is even necessary to get to those numbers. Really itching to install what I have and get tuned. Itβs like I have a bunch of boxes of fun in the garage waiting to be opened.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
TL;DR: Bought a 2004 RX-8 Grand Touring in Dec 2020 w/ 80k miles / 130k kms from a friendβs dad for peanuts and promptly spent way too much money on mods and fuel over the course of 14k miles / 20k kms doing road trips, track days, and everything and anything.
The car has been an absolute blast to drive and honestly pretty reliable all things considered. If you want to buy one, check out rx8help.com for a read on what you should know.
If I could re-do it all, I might buy a Series 2 RX-8 R3 and do less mods, or just buy the new GR86 / BRZ. It's definitely been a fun journey with this car though!

This is something Iβve been meaning to do (those NSX yearly reviews really inspired me), but u/DarkFire989βs review gave me the kick in the pants to get this started. Hereβs my one-year review of my 2004 Mazda RX-8 that I bought in December 2020. I hope by the end of it, you can take away and understand the following:
Going to try to keep it somewhat concise, if you have any more questions on anything by all means ask!
The buying experience
In late 2020, I was in a position to own a car again after deciding that I was going to move out of NYC. Wanted to get into a sports car again (I had an Infiniti G35x daily and NA Miata sports car before) that I could semi-daily (WFH life), and I was pretty flexible budget wise as long as the car was something I would like, a good deal, and generally reliable. I am partial to high-revving sporty cars thatβs slightly βout of the normβ to help you understand my biases.
I heard of this specific RX-8 in particular as it was my friend's dad's car that he had owned since new. He bought the car new in Aug 2003 (previously owned a 1979 RX-7 and loved that) and drove it daily for years with my friend in the backseat. I always liked the RX-8 from m
