The State of Uttar Pradesh, India has launched the Population control Bill that is similar to China's 2 child policy. The government states that it's to control the rising population of the state (UP being the most populated state in India) however, the sole reason for this bill is to further their Islamophobic agenda based on the stereotype that Muslim families produce more children. There has been history of such bills introduced to incarcerate Muslims for petty crimes.
The bill however may have terrible consequences. In China, which is a slightly progressive country in terms of women's rights than India, had it's sex ratio almost doubled because of the 2 child policy. India has a far more regressive patriarchal society as well as it was ranked the most unsafe country for women. And especially UP, that almost ranks 4th or 5th in terms of increasing crimes against women. The bill will lead to more Foeticides and Infanticides which are already very prevalent despite laws criminalising them.
This statistical analysis of 29 primate species found that female bisexuality occurred in species that practice high rates of infanticide.
It's noteworthy since so many analyses of bisexuality in women discuss desire from the perspective of males, or the masculinized traits of women, rather than investigate it as a mating strategy in response to male violence. In the non-human primate species studied, this is the case.
