A list of puns related to "False positives and false negatives"
Just want to share my experience as so many folks on here are thinking about having visitors during the Omicron surge.
I am 26 weeks with twins and have been Pfizer double vaccinated. We had a plumber in our home the last week of Dec. I stayed in a hotel as a precaution. However, he gave COVID to my husband anyway. Hereβs my testing/symptom journey.
Monday, Jan 3- my husband has been feeling bad for 2 days. I develop runny nose and sore throat. We both get PCRs- husband is positive, I am negative
Wednesday, Jan 5- congestion, runny nose, sore throat, fatigue. I get a rapid that is negative, my doctor orders a PCR - it spits out a negative days later. My doctor warns that being vaccinated and having mild symptoms is leading to many false negatives with Omicron.
Thursday-Friday- symptoms get worse quickly. Night sweats, breathing issues, and unable to keep my heart rate down. No home tests to be had and all appointments full
Saturday- at this point I am so sick my rapid test lights right up- quick positive at the doctorβs office. It took 5 days after my mild symptoms started to get a positive result.
Since Iβm pregnant with twins, Iβm certainly immunocompromised. It may take your healthy and vaccinated guests several days to test positive. Please be careful out there, mamas!
Name a part of this "conspiracy" (more like what is blatantly being said and done in front of our eyes) and she believes it at this point. it took awhile but we are here lol But even then people who have been brainwashed cling to parts of their programming so hard. Is it because they just didn't want to be wrong about LITERALLY EVERYTHING or is this still the actual brainwash mechanism at play that even knowing how much they lied elsewhere they could still so blindly trust this 1 last thing?
4 positive rapid tests and 1 negative PCR test...
My 7 yo son had been sick with a mild cough for about 5 days when we decided to give him a BinaxNow antigen test. It had a very faint line on the sample bar and we were directed to treat that as a positive. He took antigen test #2 right afterwards and had the same faint line.
The whole family immediately went into quarantine and we took him to get a PCR test the next day. While waiting for the PCR test results he took 2 more rapid tests and they came back with the same faint line. PCR result came back this evening - negative.
We're fairly confused and not finding much information to help our understanding of the nature of these false positives. Has anyone had a similar experience or can volunteer anything to demystify this? TIA.
I think the title speaks for itself. I do have symptoms and am in self isolation untill I get the official result from from the gouvernment provided test. But I'm still curious.
i expect a method that make:
var a = 3
var b = -26
print(method(a), method(b)) # prints true false
my bad for any errors in my english
I am extremely sorry that I am asking this question again πΆπΆ
So I had a bit of a flu with body pain and headache in November and the doctor said that it might be a viral and told me not to worry. Me being the hypochondriac order an hiv test and the preliminary test : CMIA ag/ab came positive, confirmation tests : immunochromatography and immunofiltration both were negative. I also did another test at a specialised center and they did rapid test which came out negative. I have a huge contamination OCD so overthinking is my forte ππ. It's so extreme that I always fill the condoms with water to check for leaks after hookup. I know I know I need counselling π’π’
I don't have a possible exposure, I have done all protected sex with condoms and I always check for leakage. I last tested in February 2021 and I haven't had unprotected anal sex since 2012. I do have unprotected oral but I never let anyone ejaculate in my mouth. I also had a covid shot in September and this test was in November. So my question is :
. Is the first test result false positive or does it means I am in window period?
BTW I am a gay male in late 20s and receptive in bed. I have consulted an infectious disease specialist and he said it's false positive and not to worry since I don't have a possible exposure. But my hypochondriac contamination OCD ass is freaking out πΆπΆ. I don't have the courage to take another test. I know about U=U so I am not worried on the medicine front or doctor front. My biggest question is I took all the necessary precautions so is this possible or this is a cross antibody reaction? π§π§
If first self test carried out using combined saliva and nasal(itβs a wrong method as it ought to be either one) turns on positive then minutes later another test kit showing negative by only using nasal.
Which test kit result is correct?
P/S: I told them I would trust the second one using nasal as that would be more accurate since first test didnβt follow the guideline.
Then they asked why it didnβt show invalid instead of showing positive. Anyone knows the answer?
Hi everyone, I have been testing since 2dp5dt (FET 12/8)β¦ I have been getting positives since 4dp5dt, I got positives on 2 line tests both clearblue and first response, and also on both their digitalis. Today I took a clearblue digital, and it said not pregnant, then I took a FR digital and it said yes. When I took apart the CB digital, it had two dark and very apparent blue lines. Super nervous this could be a chemical?
Anyone else experiencing this often, where lights that HomeKit says are off are actually on, and lights that HomeKit says are on are actually off? This is been the case for the last one or two updates, and itβs so annoying.
my boyfriend started having symptoms & then 3 days later tested positive. i tested negative. we sleep together, share the same car, same EVERYTHING. so we took another test the next day. same results. that night i got fever & all the symptoms for the next couple days. we keep getting tested & ive been negative for all of them! we are both very sick & today we got tested, he was positive but they said they messed up his test & got a retest, negative? i was also negative. we are still feeling bad. this all happened in the span of a week. feels exactly like the flu. we are both vax with pfizer no booster yet. how could this happen?
And you guys, I'm crushed.
I always thought early losses were nbd. I never understood why people would be so hurt.
Now I get it. Oh, I get it. I'm gutted. I'm devastated. I can't stop crying. I keep trying to make little deals to manoeuvre us back to being pregnant - maybe it's just early spotting. Maybe I didn't really see blood.
But I'm bleeding. Maybe I was pregnant but it failed. Maybe something else. Maybe fucking whatever.
I believed, for a few beautiful hours, I really believed that we were FINALLY pregnant. And now we're not. And every little thought I had was a waste, is dashed. This child won't be born on nearly the same date as her big brother. This child won't be in the same year at school as our next door neighbour. This child won't need the bookends I just bought her. This child won't exist. She's gone. She never was. She's gone, and I miss her so much I may never stop crying.
I
Is it just a narrative that people enjoy talking about regardless if they know what they're talking about?
Might as well ask labrats, ye would have a better take than other subs,
Thanks in advance
How do scientists determine if a false positive or negative occurred? Do they have a test more accurate than the test they are testing? How would they determine a false positive or negative on the most accurate test we have?
