A list of puns related to "Environmental health officer"
I was wondering if anyone had any information about the Environmental Health Officer position in the Navy. It seems like it is a pretty small group of people so the information out there online is scarce. For a little background, I graduated in 2019 with my MPH in Occupational and Environmental and have been working since then as an Environmental Health Sanitarian and am just looking for a change of pace from your typical inspector work while still keeping some time out in the field. Any general information is appreciated but I am also wondering about a few things specifically:
Was bringing herself and the groceries home today from Tesco. Given that this was in Lurgan we got stopped at one of the level crossings. I looked in the mirror to see a fella get out of the car behind us and walk up and tap on the window. He said who he was and then said that herself had dropped a feg butt out of the car before we left the car park. Now she was indeed having a smoke but she never ever throws butts down. She carries a little purse thingy in her bag for that type of thing. The fella must have seen her smoking. Checked where we were parked, seen a butt lying there and thought he was going to nab her. We took great delight in putting him straight but were a bit pissed off that he got us at the gates instead of having to follow us home.
Greetings! I am a recent MPH graduate and and preparing my Officer application package to be submitted before January 15, 2020 boards. I am wondering if anyone knows how long it takes before I will have results on when to ship out for ODS? My recruiter said something about now being a new fiscal year? Also, does anyone know how truly competitive boards are? I finished grad school with a 3.9 GPA but have little βreal worldβ environmental health professional experience Thanks!
Hi! EHO to be from Canada. Is anyone else on here studying for BOCs? Does anyone have BOC practice questions they are willing to trade ? Or is anyone here already an EHO in Canada and has helpful tips for passing?
Thanks !
Every now and then a pair of them will come have a proper good rifle through our com bin and take pictures of some of the rubbish. Is this a fetish Iβm not aware of? Or are they actually serving a purpose?
My view is that Reducitarianism, when ignoring the animal victims, is a perfectly viable option for the environment and an individuals (humans) health. Example, eating 1 chicken wing a month is negligible in the context of emissions and health but still required the confinement and gassing of a sentient being. Another example. Eliminating the consumption of fish and pastured mammals, reducing overall animal products to less than 2% of calories, finding ways to process animal waste to reduce the pollution coming from factory farms, reforesting pasture and changing monocrop agriculture to permaculture would probably be enough to reduce the environmental and human health concerns of carnism to close to or on par with veganism, but there would still be animals being bred, caged and slaughtered by society.
(Edit: my view has changed on the next paragraph. Keeping it for posterity.) Same thing in reverse. Imagine you had rescue chickens who you fed their eggs back to and supplemented, gave medical attention to and fed and cared for them till there natural death, but then also ate some of their eggs regularly. This would likely have a negative effect on your personal health in terms of cholesterol and heart disease but would still be, i feel, ethically within veganism. (Edit: a better example would be someone eating previously dead animals, terrible for your health but without a victim.)
Not sure how coherent my thoughts are, but i wanna know what you guys feel about this? Am I wrong in my reasoning?
Long post.. TLDR at bottom
The Vic Government must show that a Pandemic Order mandating boosters for all workers is Proportional to the harm it would cause in line with the CHO's advice. The Vic CHO advised only two weeks ago that mandating boosters for all workers is not proportional to the harm it would cause to the community.
The recent order mandating a booster for certain occupations included advice from the Chief Health Officer. This advice noted:
>Third Dose Vaccine Mandates
>
>93. I have considered a consistent one-size-fits-all approach to vaccination mandates for allworkforces and even for the general community but, at this time, I do not consider this to be aproportionate response for reasons including that I consider that the risks to the community β and the preliminary Victorians are voluntarily accessing booster doses at high numbers, and thiswillingness was further evidenced by behavioural insights data from the Department of Premierand Cabinet which has indicated that over 80% of respondents were willing to undertake a booster dose
It is important to note that this advice was provide on January 12 - during the peak of the Omicron surge. Since then case numbers have reduced significantly.
The current General Workers Order (2x vax mandate) notes:
>(1) The objective of this Order is to impose obligations upon employers in relation to the vaccination of general workers, in order to limit the spread of COVID-19 within the population of those workers
In making a mandate (for example mandated booster) the Minister for Health must satisfy in the Statement of Reasons:
>Principal of Proportionality
>
>19. The principle is that decisions made, and actions taken in the administration of the PHW Act should be proportionate to the risk sought to be prevented, minimised or controlled, and should not be made or taken in an arbitrary manner.20 In deciding to make the pandemic order, I am required to be satisfied that the order is 'reasonably necessary' to protect public health, ***which requires consideration of the proportionality of those measur
Hi everyone!
So I am interested in research into cognition for those who have been exposed to an environmental hazard (I am specifically interested in geological processes, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, etc), but am also interested in hazards that would not have any legal ramifications (such as ground water contamination by a company or lead exposure, etc).
Is anyone working on this, or know somewhere who is?
Thanks!
I have a bachelors in business and am wanting to get into safety. Iβve been looking into Columbia Southern online. Itβs a cheaper program but still gives me some safety certifications as well. GSP I believe is what it was.
I office with a guy who works in safety and he said the program would be fine and he has some friends that have done it as well.
He also said having a bachelors in business and a masters in safety would be better than 2 safety degrees. I was worried the business degree would hurt me.
Looking for any advice or suggestions on this idea.
Thanks!
Although not currently practising full-time, I have inspected many food shops and investigated food poisonings and food complaints. I've also dealt with other public health areas including communicable diseases.
I hold a B. App. Sci. - Environmental Health, G. Dip. Health Promotion and Health Education and G. Dip. Education, Senior Years, Biology. Currently completing a Master of Education - Teaching for Diversity. I had a change of career due to raising a special needs son (Cystic Fibrosis/Bronchiectasis/Autism). So please excuse any delays in replies. I have only so much legitimate procrastination time!
I am excited about the benefits that graphene can bring to so many applications. However, I donβt see a lot of discussion on the health and environmental impacts of graphene. Is anyone familiar with any studies that address this subject?
I have a BS degree in Environmental Health and was wondering if anyone knew what job and duties are like for an Environmental Health Officer. I have been playing with the idea of going to OCS for a few years and now that I'm finally out of college and have a real job I just feel like joining the Navy as an officer would be way more fulfilling than what I'm doing now.
Hello everyone! I am currently an undergrad interested in environmental health sciences, but Iβm not really sure about any career opportunities that go along with this. What are some opportunities for environmental health science?
Finishing an MPH and seriously considering this track but finding out what it's like day-to-day and hearing about peoples' experience is like pulling teeth. anyone? buehler? thank you in advance for your input.

The RBA Code may not be the single answer to all the woes that plague us in the workforce today - but it would sure as heck be better than whatever it is we've got now.
(I am not in any way affiliated with the RBA, but I have worked to implement and prove compliance at my own employers facilities.)
Here's a few highlights of what employers MUST do if they wish to have an RBA Certification:
No worker does more than 60 hours worked per week
No more than 6 consecutive work days without a day off.
All overtime must be voluntary
Ethics & Grievance reporting hotline available to all workers
All Greivance reporting must have the option to report fully anonymously.
Non-retaliation against those with greivances must be strictly prevented and guarded against.
Transparent and consistent wages
Freedom of association to join, form, or avoid Union membership.
Strict Safety Controls
Controls against exposure to dangerous chemicals
Strict pollution controls for air, liquid, and solid waste
No unfair advantage, bribery, conflicts of interest, etc - even when such practices may have been locally/culturally acceptable in the past
Disciplinary actions cannot use wage deductions, or be discriminatory/harassing
A whole array of anti harassment and anti discrimination requirements.
Required to afford the same rights and protections to contractors and all other workers as they would to direct employees.
Protections against forced labor, child labor, indentured workers, etc.
And to ice the cake:.
All of these elements have to be codified by written policies from the top down.
RBA members have to prove compliance to these on a regular basis, often yearly in one form or another.
If a site or company fails, they may lose the right to do business with certain customers that require it. (If they can't fix it well enough or soon enough.)
To be totally clear, this is Already required for these companies and all their suppliers wanting to do business with them: Apple, Microsoft, AMD, Intel, Samsung,BMW, Bose, Ford, Foxconn, Walmart, Amazon, Tesla, and many others.
Whatever other failings those companies may have, this is a step in the right direction - even if I have no idea how Amazon and Walmart are passing their audits as members.
So if you see member companies violating these types of things, they should definitely be reported somehow.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi Everyone,
I'm a 24 year old college grad from a school in Minnesota with a degree in Public Health (GPA 3.64). I'm very interested in becoming an Environmental Health Officer but am having trouble finding much information on it. I'd have to get a masters first and could hopefully get help from the HSCP.
Anyway, anyone familiar with this area? Is there any demand for these officers? Are the chances of receiving a direct commission high? Did you or anyone you know work as an Environmental Health Officer with the Navy and if so, what kind of work did they do? I'm planning on meeting with the officer recruiter in Minneapolis soon but thought I'd ask here as well. Thanks!
I would personally say this PowerPoint is a bit outdated and not really as radical as i would hope, however it is a good general overview and shows that academics and universities are trying to work to dismantle anti fat bias. It doesnβt really touch on environmentalism in depth but highlights the connect. (( This PowerPoint includes discussion of eating disorders ))
