Two days after King Henry VIII's coronation, his first actions are taken. By royal decree, the King abolishes his fathers Council Learned in Law. Warrants of arrest are sent out for Edmund Dudley and Sir Richard Empson on charges of treason. They would be attainted, their titles forfeit to the King.
For now, the two men sat in the tower. Dudley would eventually confess that he often dealt out punishments for tax offenses far greater than was actually lawful, which would of course provoke widespread anger against the Council among the nobility and people of England.
For his part, Henry VIII officially condemned the council by proclamation in Westminster and pledged never to allow the resumption of their extortionate policies.
In the same vein as my other post, here is a list of boy names from the 1940 University of Idaho - Coeur d'Alene yearbook. This list was pulled from students in two fraternities and senior/junior military officers.
Standout names: Armour, Eri, Fenemor, Fulton, Hillard, Loren, Otho, Rollin
Most popular: Robert and William by far. John, William, James, and Robert were the top 4 names for the years these students would have been born (~1918-1922). I suspect that those students named "Jack" may have actually been John as well.

... keep reading on reddit β‘I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
The 16th century was obviously tumultuous for a lot of people in England, but I think an argument could be made that the Dudleys (Edmund, John, and Robert) had the most turbulent century of anyone not named Tudor.
How on earth did this seemingly obscure family from the south coast (I think?) not only become one of the most important political dynasties of Tudor England, but keep resurrecting their fortunes after not one, but TWO political executions?
Do your worst!
The silvery armored knuckle of Sir Richard Empson rapped on the door of the London Steelyard. An older, rotund German man with a terribly thin mustache and bald head opens the door a crack. Cautiously, the German stammers out "J-ja?"
CRACK
The door swings open, slamming into the wall. The fat German stumbles back, falling onto his rear in shock. Armed men storm the facility, securing the various posts and expelling the merchants inside. "The Steelyard has been seized by the order of the King Henry VII." Edmund Dudley stands atop a desk and announces to the building amidst the chaos. "All property stored in the warehouses and owned by a ship from Lubeck or Hamburg is considered forfeit and owned by the Crown, all merchants from Hamburg and Lubeck are to leave England by the end of the month. All other Hanseatic merchants may continue their trade at the nearest Merchant Adventurer warehouse."
The building quickly devolves into chaos as merchants, especially Germans, flee from the Steelyard.
"Feels good to be back in action eh Dudley?" Empson said, staring up at his longtime friend. "To do the will of the King is the most just reward of all," Dudley said, puffing his chest out in satisfaction.
The two men continued to observe the seizure of the Steelyard until at last the property was secure.
Dated the 24th of October, in the 17th year of His Reign. Anno Domini, 1502.
HENRY THE SEVENTH, Rex Angliae et Franciae et Dominus Hiberniae, Loyal and Faithful King chosen by God to all our Officers, Ministers, and Subjects, decrees upon this day that the Hanseatic League, led by Hamburg, no longer owns and controls the London Steelyard. The Steelyard is exclusively the property of the King until such a time he sees fit to grant it to another.
Furthermore, it is by decree of the King that all Lubecker and Hamburger Hanseatic merchants have been stripped of the unique privileges afforded to them by the Treaty of Utrecht. Specifically, those Hansa merchants will be stripped of all privileges in the cities of Boston, Bristol, Bishop's Lynn, Hull, Ipswich, Norwich, Yarmouth, and York.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
The Lords and the Commons have convened in Westminster for the Seventh Parliament in the reign of the King Henry VII.
The Commons sits first as is by now some form of tradition - Edmund Dudley has been appointed Parlour by the King and sits at the head of the chamber.
Among the various clerks and assistants sits thirteen MPs, whom shall be listed;
MP of Canterbury, Kent - Thomas Atwode
MP of Ipswich, Suffolk - Thomas Baldry
MP of Rye, Sussex - [Richard Berkeley](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Berkeley_(Sussex_MP))
MP of Stamford, Lincolnshire - [David Cecil](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Cecil_(courtier))
MP of Yarmouth - Thomas More
MP of Exeter - John Orenge
Recorder of London - MP of North London - This seat is taken by Robert Sheffield, as the previous holder Sir John Shaa regrettably passed.
MP of South London - [John Tate](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Tate_(Lord_Mayor_of_London))
MP of Reading, Berkshire - [Richard Smith](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Smith_(died_1516))
MP of Salisbury, Wiltshire - William Webbe
MP of Leicester - William Wyggeston
The King himself steps to the center of the chamber, and speaks to the assembled Commons.
"Sir Parlour, we perceive by you, to whome we did entrust the mouth of oure Lower House, howe with even consent they are fallen into the due consideration of the precious gift of thankefulnesse, moost usually least esteemed, where it is best deserved."
Murmurs of approval come from the benches before silence one again befalls the Chamber. "And therefoore we charge you tell theyme how acceptable such sacrifice is woorthily received of a loving Kinge, who doubteth much whether the given thanks can be of more poise then the owed is to theyme: and suppose that they have done more for us, then they theymeselves beleeve. And this is oure reason: Who keepes their moost Gallant Sovereigne from the lapse of error, in which, by ignorance, and not by intent, they might have fallen; what thankes they deserve, we know, though you may gesse."
"And as n

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?

So What did 3 say to 8 ?
