Authentication needednot much to say except that it was advertised as an East German air force enlist hat. Smells faintly like a sheep, and the plastic that covera the size number and NVA mark is quite fragile.

Just purchased this 1964 East German 100 Mark note
It's not in yet, but I was curious -- I got it for less than $10 US. I think it's a killer deal -- but I wanted to know what everyone else thought. The only other examples I could find were UNC, and they went for $70 and up. This is the only picture I have, but it looks VF or so to my eye. Did I get as good a deal as I think I did?
I'm happy with my deal either way, I'm just curious.

TIL: After the unification of Germany, all of the now useless East German Mark banknotes were buried in a cave complex, where they were left to rot. Two german men did however break in to the complex to steal banknotes and sell them to collectors, prompting authorities to burn all remaining notes.

Did the official exchange rate between West German Deutsche Mark and the East German Mark used during German reunification devalue the DM at all? What were some other proposed plans for economic integration of the former GDR?
I'm not sure if this belongs in AskHistorians or a subreddit focusing more on Economics, so sorry if this is in the wrong place.
I've read that when Germany reunited, West Germany exchanged DM for GDR marks at an artificial exchange rate that was way above market value for East German marks. Did this cause the DM to lose any value internationally (against the dollar or the pound, for example)?
Were there any other proposed/seriously considered plans for economic integration of the two Germanies?

Hey, I need help identifying two mags. The first one is the mag on the left. I wanna say it's east German due to how shiny and all the spots on the rib. There's some markings on the rib that's just a N and a M. The second one is the marking on that mag.

What was the biggest shock experienced by west Germans from East Germany and East Germans after unification, and vice versa?
Since I am South Korean, I'm quite curious about this subject. These days, South Korean government is busy negotiating closely with NK for an official declaration of an end to the Korean War. No problem, as the Biden administration has already stated on several occasions that it strongly supports our peaceful negotiations. Germany is probably the only country that has had such a rare experience, so I'm curious about your experiences. After unification, do you guys share the same sentiment as 'one nation'?

Did any of the pre-Euro German banknotes (Deutschmark or East German mark) have nicknames based on the people whose portraits were on them?
I'm just curious if back in the day people used to be able to ask "kannst du mir mal einen GauΓer ausleihen?" or anything along those lines. I haven't really heard any slang based on the pictures on Euro notes (maybe the color if anything), but I imagine it could have been possible with Deutschmark or East German mark, since they featured portraits of famous people.
Here's a wiki link showing who used to be on the Deutschmark notes. The same article points out that a few of the old coins had nicknames, but doesn't mention anything about the bills. Here's the wiki for the East German mark as well.
I'm just curious what slang, if any, got lost through those transitions. Cheers!
