A list of puns related to "Disco Shanti"
Well here we are. After a year of cycle switch-ups, rerates, Swifties failing in rates, interacting with the other music subs (for once), Gamers finally getting their say, the loss of a very important community member, the loss of a less important community member, and any number of countless other obstacles we've finally reached the end of the 2021. And with the reveal of 70's Soul over the past weekend we have now completed our 5th session (cycle? series? season?) of Popheads Rates!
Someone suggested this to me earlier in the year (though I'm sorry I don't remember who!) (Edit: it was Niki! A huge thanks to them for coming up with the idea!! It was a ton of fun to work on!) and I think it'll be fun to take a look back at the past 12 months of rates now that All Stars 5 voting is open (speaking of, don't forget to submit your votes for wildcard spots before December 31st!)
This covers everything covered in the All Stars 5 cycle (+ All Stars 4). So the rates from last December (Contemporary R&B and 1987 Pop Guys) up to last month (High Concept Pop and 70's Soul)
##The Numbers
Over the past year Popheads had:
27 ... rates completed
37 ... different rate hosts
792 ... different raters (or usernames at least)
1335 ... main rate songs rated
3017 ... ballots counted
2867 ... 11s given out
1197 ... 0s given out
28 ... songenialities given out
176 ... bonus songs/remixes/speeches/TV breakdowns rated
The average score of all songs from this year was 7.642 which is higher than the total average across all 5 years (overall is at 7.394)
The average controversy from this year was 1.808 which is lower than the total average controversy across all 5 years (overall is at 1.935)
The most common score received by songs this year was 7.630, which was given to 5 different songs (All That Ever Mattered - HAIM, Baby Girl - Chloe X Halle, Madame X - Allie X, Without Me - Halsey, Sakura Drops - Utada)
##And the meaningless
The most common letter to be used at the start of songs this year was 'S' with 150 songs. Followed by 'T' with 97, 'I' with 86, 'B' with 83, and then 'C' with 82
The most common numbers used at the start of songs are **1
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Hello everyone! Hare here. After twenty-nine straight days of posting polls, it is done. Every song of Total Drama World Tour has been ranked and placed on an ordered tier-list. And what I am going to do now is go through each of them. I will be leaving a little review for each song to kinda give a perspective on the subβs reasoning for its placement, some things good, some things bad. So if you commented on any of the polls, youβre likely to see your thoughts show up on here. These reviews do not necessarily reflect my opinion, theyβre just structured that way, but everything in them is taken from the comments. Once again, thank you to everyone who commented and voted. Without further ado, let us begin.
Each song is placed into a tier based on their score and finding the average out of each poll gives a song a score out of 10.
E tier
So good news right off the bat. There are no songs in E tier. You know what that means? Every song is liked by someone. There are songs in this season that arenβt my favorite or I donβt often go back to. But I am so glad each and every one exists, because there is someone out there whom they make happy. Moving on.
D tier
30th, 3.1/10; A Chinese Lesson
In last place we have A Chinese Lesson. It has a repetitive melody and is pausing and starting again very often. The music lacks fluctuation that would give it performance value, very monotonous. It is the only time Chris is prominently featured in a song, and it doesnβt do justice to Christian Potenzaβs unique voice. The instrumentals clash very hard with him and donβt compliment him very well. This song however from a comedy standpoint in the context of the episode is well done. Alejandro and Blaineley are noticeably off-key in the final verse. Sierra does come in with a nice falsetto for the ending belt, the songβs highlight. I am not Chinese, so I canβt speak on people calling this song culturally insensitive, I wouldnβt know. However if there are any Chinese users that is up to them on if this song is offensive, one user pointed out to me that the pronunciation of βchiβ is incorrect because they needed to rhyme the song. Overall, this song is pretty dull.
C tier
29th, 4.3/10; Gypsy Rap
The best part of the song was Heatherβs intro paired with an entertaining acoustic intro, but the jarring transition into Gwenβs rather off-beat rap is what is mostly disliked. The entire song lacked fluidity that makes a song easy to listen to. It ends rath

Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Thank you to u/JaxOnThat for the idea. This post will be using a very similar format to your post. And by very similar, I mean I'm basically copying the format.
Usually when I begin to listen to an AJR album, one song starts out as my favorite but then I shift from song to song until I eventually reach a favorite I can settle on. For example, in Ok Orchestra, it started out with World's Smallest Violin being my favorite, but then it shifted to Adventure is Out There, before quickly shifting to Joe, which remains my favorite of the album today.
This does not hold true with Bud Like You.
When I first heard Bud Like You, I fell in love with the song, and from talking to people on here I know I am far from the only one. This song is not only fun, sounds like a sea shanty, and classic AJR in every single way, it's also extremely relatable in a multitude of ways.
Though far from the most musically pleasing song AJR has ever made (that title would probably go to the original Dear Winter), this song is a joy to listen to, and I would even describe it as a party song, which if you know what it's about, is extremely ironic and extremely intentional.
Bud Like You is about being at a party and hating every minute of it, and wishing that you had someone there with you who feels the same. I wouldn't describe it as musically pleasing, as the Sea Shanty Corus and the Spokestep 2/3rds of the way though don't sound the nicest musically speaking, but they each add to the song thematically and the song in general is very fun to listen to.
The song starts by introducing the chorus:
"Way up, way up, way up to the sky
When everybody here is sneaking in and getting high
Way up, way up, way up to the moon
Boy it's good to know I've got a bud like you"
This chorus is typically described as sounding like a Sea Shanty (and I agree with this), but this wasn't what they were going for. This chorus is supposed to (and does) sound like a frat party singing, which is very, very ironic. But notice how the frat party isn't singing about hating the party, they're singing about "sneaking in," "getting high," and hanging out with friends, which are enjoyable parts of the party. The frat party represents the people enjoying the party in my opinion. Also notice how they say "I've got a Bud Like You," this is extremely important.
"Enough, enough

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
I won't be doing that today!
