A list of puns related to "David Wong (philosopher)"
Closer to John Dies at the End rather then the Zoey Ashe series (though I do love Zoey Ashe as well).
I want something weird, but with a humorous edge.
Doesn't necessarily have to be 'cosmic' horror, it could be like Jeff Vandermeer's flavor of weird, I just want the goofy alongside it.
The Cipher by Kathe Koja almost hit that spot, but was more bleak than humorous (still amazing though, if you haven't read it it's like House of Leaves if it was only Johnny's ramblings)
What do you got?
Back again for another AMA, I'm the author of the John Dies at the End series and the Zoey Ashe series, and was the executive editor at Cracked.com from 2007 until I fled the industry earlier this year. I have a new book out called Zoey Punches the Future in the Dick, here's a three-minute video that explains everything but may also leave you more confused than ever:

EDIT: Okay I answered 112 questions over five hours and it looks like the next hundred questions I see on here are all duplicates, so if you asked but didn't get an answer it probably means I answered it already. If you're showing up late, there's several thousand words worth of answers below. Thanks, everybody!
I read John Dies at the End, and it was an absolute trip that I can't categorize as any real kind of horror subgenre I know(If I'm wrong please let me know, I want more like this) and now I'm going through This Book is Full of Spiders and between giant spider turkey monsters, crashed government vehicles full of dolls, conspiracies, and a "zombie" epidemic unlike any I've read, along with lots of fantastic humor. I wish more authors could be half as fun as this, even if they aren't the deepest or scariest(but there is certainly nightmare fuel).

OPINION: Billy Te Kahika Jnr may be new to politics, but in a remarkably short time his party has amassed a phenomenal following - and hordes of cash. But is he who he says he is, a man of Christian values and integrity? Are his acolytes backing who they think they are?
Itβs a fine Saturday afternoon at Aucklandβs Aotea Square, for decades the gathering point for protesters wanting their voices heard. But weβve never seen a protest quite like this one - itβs alarming.
At its core itβs a rally against the governmentβs use of lockdowns, and other perceived infringements of New Zealandersβ freedoms.
The placards are plain.
βNO TO LOCKDOWNβ
Also plain is how unwelcome we are, as media.
βMEDIA LIESβ
Weβre asked repeatedly if weβre using facial recognition cameras. Weβre told over and over, βmedia is the virusβ. And βuse your mask to wipe your arseβ.
Itβs Level 2.5 in Auckland and we are indeed wearing masks - surgical grade - which we find only vaguely reassuring in the face of a crowd of 2000 where not a single mask is worn.
Lots of people have brought their kids - theyβre not wearing masks either. Itβs a Covid petri-dish and nobody cares because they donβt believe Covid is a thing. As weβre filming one woman she points at our faces and says, βThese masks do nothing. I think youβre wasting your time. I think you need fresh air, you need to build your immune system, vitamin C, ozoneβ¦.β.
The holder of a placard reading βEnd the Panic-Demicβ tells us sheβs a nurse, and that the health claims about coronavirus donβt make sense to her.
Another woman speaks of βthe so-called Covid virus, that we donβt believe inβ.
βEnd the mask-eradeβ, another placard reads.
The organisers tell the protesters theyβve been working with the police and that the rally will only be allowed to continue if everyone practises the social distancing rules of Level 2.5.
βSo stay in your bubbles.β But the crowd, packed shoulder-to-shoulder, just laughs, as behind the stage, Billy Te Kahika Jnr has a hongi, kiss, cuddle, or selfie with every fan who comes his way - and there are many.
This is the man the people gathered here are taking their cues from.
The aspiring politician whose ascension has been st

I have zero idea what genre. I read many different ones and just enjoy reading for the sake of a good story!
I think it's a good story and really like this book. Do I think it's well written? Meh. It's alright written. It's a build up to the end and it moves kind of slow. He includes things happening "off stage" so that it gives you a small surprise now and again. It's most definitely in line with the first book.
If you enjoy drama, explosions, personal drama, and young adult angst you'll enjoy this book.
Hopefully I followed the rules and didn't provide spoilers!

Maybe Peter Weir might have gotten a bit further if Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany made out in Master and Commander.

At the end of John Ramseys deposition Lin Wood and Mr. Hoffman were finishing up and tying up loose ends for the record.
MR. HOFFMAN: I would like the record to reflect that I made this document available on the internet at the time that Cina Wong, and there is a document which seems to be almost identical, that David Liebman received this. I would just like the record to reflect I made no attempt to keep this hidden from the public.
MR. WOOD: And there has been no representation that you did make any such attempt.
MR. HOFFMAN: I am sorry? No. I want the record to reflect that β
MR. WOOD: But I appreciate the stipulation.
MR. HOFFMAN: β that I made that available through the internet.
MR. WOOD: The stipulation was that you recognize the document, and it is actually the very material that you placed on the internet.
MR. HOFFMAN: That is correct.
MR. WOOD: And it was, in fact, and is, in fact, a true and correct statement of the letter that was sent to Cina Wong by Michael Kaneon behalf of Alex Hunter, the β
MR. HOFFMAN: Correct.
MR. WOOD: β the Boulder district attorney.
MR. HOFFMAN: Uh-huh (affirmative).
MR. WOOD: January 20, 1999.
MR. HOFFMAN: Yes.
MR. WOOD: And also a true and correct verbatim statement of the letter sent by Mr. Kane on that date, January 20, 1999, to Mr. David Liebman; am I right?
MR. HOFFMAN: That is correct.
MR. WOOD: All right. So that the record is clear, in those letters which predate the filing of this lawsuit, Mr. Kane stated to Ms. Wong and Mr. Liebman in identical language that he was informing them that their request to testify before the Boulder County grand jury in the JonBenet Ramsey murder investigation was denied, and the statement was, "We have determined that your proposed testimony would not serve the interest of justice, which is the controlling standard by which to judge your request." And I continue to quote: "The primary reason that we have reached this decision is that we believe that the methodology which you have used in reaching your conclusions does not meet the standards employed by the vast majority of forensic questioned document examiners in this country." I continue to quote: "Most significant is your complete failure to account for or even reference any unexplained dissimilarities between the questioned and known samples. You are willing to conclude with 100 percent certainty that a writing was authored by a particular person based on some threshold level of similarities without any menti

I really loved all the John Dies at the End books and Futuristic Violence and Fancy Suits by David Wong/Jason Pargin, and Will Save the Galaxy for Food, and Will Destroy the Galaxy for Cash by Yahtzee Croshaw. I would like to find books similar in style or tone.
Play-doh!
Iβve enjoyed his other work, and heard it was decent, but Iβm 8% in, but so far, his protagonist seems way too naive for someone in this world. Does it get better? Breaks any immersion to have such an empty audience surrogate as the main character- or am I just misreading it or jumping to conclusions?
Hey, I just want to say, personally I love his "John dies at the end" book series, to me its perfect match between goofy slackers and the paranormal. I just love his opening question, it really made me think about change and life. If you are into the paranormal, and enjoy strange situations I suggest to check out the series. It rekindled my love for reading.
Jeremy Lefebvre - Fortress of Knowledge - Financial Fortress Case Study & Review From David Wong

l joined the private group four months ago, and itβs been amazing. I donβt regret my decision for a minute.
I already paid my fee many times over. Itβs one of the best decisions made. I thank Jeremy for allowing me to access the private group. I benefited from the group. Iβm in the financial field as a financial advisor many years.
I discovered Jeremy and I was looking at what he is picking and sometimes I was complementing with the stock. I noticed that his performance is way better than mine. Even before joining Jeremyβs private group, I already consider him as my coach.

Hear me out. David Wong and John Cheese (John dies at the end series) go on a road trip and end up at the gas station at the edge of a town even shittier then "undisclosed" Weird shit starts happening they can't leave until they help and the cashier Jack and his friend Jerry, who end up taking the soy sauce. Shenanigans ensue, the gas station does, and doesn't explode at the end. David and John leave going back to "undisclosed" Both groups think the other is aweful.
They could never decide which to prep first, the chicken or the eggs.
Because they spent their life looking for porpoise.
Wow, what a mindfuck of a book. I seriously had no idea what I was reading the first half of the book. Once I got used to Johnβs quirky nature, Davidβs sort of assholish behavior, and just the plot jumping around with new things being thrown at me; it was fucking awesome. At the end I found myself just completely open mouthed and in shock at the revaluation. I bought the next book in the series and Iβm so excited to see how the story progresses.
I was recommended it by a friend and after he also asked me to reread the beginning opening and explained it better to me. Fuck. I cannot get over how wild of a ride this book was. Please discuss with me!
He was such a Socratease.
