A list of puns related to "David Phelps (musician)"
Phelps has 13 strikeouts and Williams has 17. They both have 1 earned run and have given up only 4 hits.
Iβm in shock right now, I just canβt even explain how upsetting this Phelps trade has made me. We just got fleeced by the fucking Cubs!
I honestly don't think I've ever seen an executive with a longer leash than this guy, like thatβs all you can get back for Phelps? From day one he's come in and don't nothing but make the team worse yet much of the fanbase firmly believes he will deliver us a winner. Look how far this team has fallen and look how much he has sapped interest in baseball in this city. Yet people still prefer him to AA. I can't wrap my head around it.
I know a lot of people here think that being a bottom feeder now will somehow mean the pendulum will swing the other way eventually, similar to what happened with the Astros and the Cubs. The problem with this line of thinking is that you need someone with a brain in charge for that to work.
Also consider this: The GM of the Astros and the Cubs endured three losing seasons at the start of their tenures before their teams started winning. We are now in year 3 of losing baseball in Shapiro's tenure. Can you look at this hideous roster and believe for a second that a half decent club is on the horizon, much less by next season? We are not the Astros and we are not the Cubs (who might I add we just traded our best reliever too?). Quit deluding yourself. You need to realize that Rogers did not hire Shapiro to build this team into a perpetual winner. He was hired to cut costs, which is exactly he's done look at how much money he just saved with the Phelps trade! But somehow many of you have come to believe that gutting the team to maximize profits for our corporate owners means he's developing a future dynasty. It's not going to happen. Quit dreaming. Again, he was brought in to cut costs so don't expect him to build a winner since that was not the purpose of his hiring. Much like how you would not expect a guy at a hot dog stand to fix your car, you should not expect Shapiro to turn us into a World Series team.
It does make me wonder though, how patient can you afford to be with this man? When will your mind change? Will it be when Vlad Jr is nearing free agency and he gets traded much like David Phelps was today because the team has no interest in paying him? Will you finally realize, hey this winning thing might not happen afterall? Or will you salivate over the prospects received for him in a trade?
Per MLB.com, confirmed by multiple sources
Phelps was actually reliable since coming over at the deadline but at $5 million next year they obviously thought it was to much.
