Thank you Canada and especially Calgary, Alberta for a great curling "season"!
I was not expecting any curling this year, but Canada pulled it off and gave me a few months of a diversion from the usual. I am grateful to all the teams that quarantined away from their family for weeks on end. Congrats to the Swiss, RCF, Scotland, Sweden and yes I'm a homer, so USA!, USA! for taking top 3 in the worlds. And every team that participated gave up around a month of their time. Not sure where I can catch mixed doubles but I'll be pulling for our North American representatives over there. I had tickets and vacation plans for Glasgow last year and I hope to be able to to see the birthplace of curling soon. Doubt the players will see this, but thank you to all 14 teams in worlds and the others on the slams and every provincial representative in the Scotties and Brier. Sports always allow an escape and curling is no different. It was an enjoyable couple months!

Curling in Alberta
Hello!
This is a long shot, but I have recently moved to Calgary Alberta. I am 22 and have curled competitively for 8 years in Manitoba. I have played all the positions, and currently skip a pretty new team in a Friday fun league. I would love to find a team to curl competitively with next year! I am doing the usual thing, getting to know everyone at the club. But No one in my league is at a competitive level. I have my name in a spare pool, but being so late in the year no one needs a spare.
Is there anywhere else I can get my name out there? I would really love to curl competitively, as any position (I love to sweep). TIA

Reminder: Southern Alberta Exmos - Magrath Curling Club Beer Gardens Tomorrow Night.
Just a friendly reminder to the exmos of Southern Alberta that the annual Magrath Curling Club beer garden is this Friday. $5 cover and $5 a drink. They usually have 3 or 4 brands of beer and a few flavours of Palm Bay.
There will be music and it's a great chance to gather with fellow exmos and nevermos.
For all of you visiting from Utah, it's a great break from your TBM family.

How much longer are they going to wait to announce this decision. People know behind the scenes who it's going to be, but at this point i find it crazy they haven't name the pair going to Beijing.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Dropped my best ever dad joke & no one was around to hear it
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

These aren't dad jokes...
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
