A list of puns related to "Cracked Ice screen"
A friend of mine was an avid crypto trader. He made decent returns too. He only traded on his iPhone, never a computer.
Until a few weeks ago when he dropped his phone at the club and the touchscreen broke. He got a new phone a few days later and tried restoring it from iCloud, but since he used a crypto wallet app he still needed the private key to access it.
You would think after trading crypto for 1.5 years he would have written down his private key and kept it somewhere secure, right? Nope. He didnβt know what a private key was, and didnβt remember if he wrote it down anywhere.
But not all hope was lost - he still had his old iPhone. Heck, the touchscreen was only partially broken. We can definitely get it to respond. I tell him to wait until I see him again and weβll work on it together. He agrees.
A few days go by and I ask him if heβs ready to work on the broken iPhone to view his private key on the old crypto wallet app. He tells me not to worry about it because he gave it to Apple and theyβve already replaced the touchscreen. Now he just has to pick it up from the store.
Me: ββ¦.You realize they factory reset the iPhone when they replace a touchscreen, right?β
Him: ββ¦.Whatβs a factory reset?β
And that ladies and gentlemen is how my friend dropped his iPhone and lost $26,000.
β-
TLDR; Friend dropped his iPhone and the touchscreen became glitchy, used a crypto wallet app but never wrote down the private key, then had the touchscreen replaced which factory reset the iPhone, clearing the user session on the old wallet app AKA the last chance he had to view his wallet private key. His $26,000 of crypto is gone forever.
Edit: Clarification
So I sat down at brunch with my wife and as I was happily eating my phone slid out of my pocket on its own, fell a few feet, and landed face down. I picked it up to discover the corner cracked and it sent cracks across the screen.
So yeah, don't be me. Wait until your case comes in before using your phone.
Now that we're done laughing at me, will ubreakifix be able to replace the screen already or should I wait a few weeks? I've never had to use them before because I really never drop my phones. Sigh.
Edit: I have preferred care through pixel pass so Google is sending me a replacement to swap out my device for ~$150

Hey all!
A while back there was a post someone made about using a shattered phone protector to replicate an ice effect for basing, but I can't seem to find the post anywhere, anyone happen to have it saved / linked?
Am I better off doing it myself?
Everyone keeps quoting me at 250 and itβs killing me
Any idea how much it costs to replace a 65β OLED panel?
Hey guys,
only had the 6 pro for about 4 days now and it randomly cracked in my pocket. i have the otterbox defender case on it, no tempered glass protector yet because cant find it anywhere. havent dropped the phone or placed it anywhere weird or applied pressure. I just took it out of my front pocket and a crack from lower right hand side up halfway on the screen.
is anyone else having issues like this or close? i know someone dropped it and it cracked but this is weird just random crack along screen.
EDIT: about a week or so after the initial cracks I had my phone charging on my work desk infront of me while i typed and i head a pop from the phone and I got an additional crack from lower right hand side where the first one started up and slightly along the screen curve.
EDIT: I am amazed with how many other people are experiencing similar issues and how google is staying quiet and their support ignores our tickets or quickly dismisses it as us breaking the phones.
I would like to ask everyone to please fill out u/trigcy spreadsheet so we get an accurate count of broken screens and maybe make more of this issue. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/1/d/1UmLtutB9ekq0z5j3VRGuM-pNhj862qamAlPOtxYrXvs/htmlview#gid=0
Has anyone else heard/seen of any issues with the webcam hardware switch damaging the screen? I literally got my system today, was setting it up, slid the hardware switch over to turn off the webcam and the screen popped a little cluster of black pixels right at the end of where the switch sits, and quickly spread into about a 3/4 inch line of just black, with graphical corruption running left/right across the entire width of the screen. It persists through reboots, so it's definite physical damage to the screen. Would that be warranty covered, or is that on me? I didn't apply anywhere close to what I would consider excessive pressure when flipping the switch either.

Nothing big, just before ice melts, it displays a cracked texture.
I have upgraded to an s7 but enjoy using my s4 for sleep tracking. I left it on the counter yesterday and when I got home after work, I noticed it had fallen on the tile floor so probably got knocked down. Could easily have been me and I did not notice. I just did a battery service in the fall. Thinking since I am just using it to sleep, I may put a screen protector and case on it and hope it will be okay since a screen repair through apple costs more than a new SE.
I looked at my phone in my car, walked 10 steps to my house and took my jacket off and sat down on the couch, looked at it and the screen is cracked. WTF????? Should I try to claim warranty or something? It cracked right on the curved part of the screen. Is there some sort of internal stress on the screen or something? When I got out of the car it was -23 outside, maybe the temperature difference? I'm so pissed! I've been so careful! It's also in a case with no screen protector. (I have one in the mail)
The screen on my iPhone is cracked. Where can I get it replaced that is not overpriced and has a fast turnaround time?
