A list of puns related to "Conservative Democrat"

I consider myself on the left. Yet many social democrats call me a conservative. Am I the only one?
And thatโs why democrats can never get stuff done, because they donโt fall in line.
Check mate, conservatives.
A lot of people think politics is a battle for the middleโthose whose own politics lie somewhere between Republicans and Democrats.
It seems that for roughly the past 20 years, Democrats have tried to focus their energy on only one type of moderateโthose who are economically conservative and socially liberal. Whereas the partyโs messaging on economics has remained squarely center-left (to be generous in global terms), the Democrats have moved pretty far left socially, shifting their stances on things like gay marriage and the acceptance of transgender people, and intermingling with those who would call themselves critical race theorists.
Increasingly though, it seems like there is another type of moderate in Americaโeconomically left and socially conservative people. These tend to be working class people, usually white, with more traditional views on things like race, abortion, and gay marriage. They donโt mind things like government spending, but their views on transgender people would make JK Rowling blush.
And they vote too. Indeed, I think Trumpโs success can be largely credited to his messaging to this group of people, which was essentially โthese illegals are taking YOUR government handouts!โ Opposition to vaccine mandates is another pet issue of this group. It isnโt the cosmopolitan fiscal conservatives who are refusing the vaccine. Itโs the social conservatives who havenโt been outside of their time zone in several decades.
Its adherents notwithstanding, I think it would be folly to call this entire political philosophy incoherent. No less an authority on far-right social politics than Charles Murray supports universal basic income, a program which is usually considered a far left economic pipe dream.
My fear for the future of the Democratic Party is that, if they donโt move on this coalition, Republicans will begin to narrow economic differences or maybe even outflank them from the economic left, while focusing all of their messaging on highlighting the Democratsโ positions on noxious social issues. But I want to know what this sub thinks about all this. Is this a type of moderate thatโs worth trying to persuade?

>Wait wait wait. You mean the single deadliest day in American history? The INSURRECTION?! You're telling me that it wasn't as big a deal as the left says it was? You're obviously a white supremacist with that kinda talk.(+10)
Some try to talk them down:
>So treason isnโt a big deal? Seems at odds with conservative values (downvoted)
Insinuating that property value is more important than lives/democracy:
>The leftist hypocrisy has numbed me to caring. Remember the summer of love? Billions of dollars of damage and hundreds of officer casualties? Seems kinda worse but who am I to say?
I know the perpetrator in this story is a black man with a criminal record, who had been released on bond shortly before over a domestic violence incident. I also know most of the people killed/injured were probably white (we don't know all the details yet, but people are calling this a "hate crime".) Because he's black and apparently a BLM supporter, they're blaming the whole organization of millions of people over this one POS's actions. They're also blaming the democrat party, Joe Biden (who I admit I'm not a fan of), and liberal policies/politicians/judges for releasing this man.
However, isn't this usually the party that likes to preach about "personal accountability"? Why are they blaming politicians who had nothing to do with this man's actions that he personally chose to take? Did Joe Biden or whoever tell this man to get into a vehicle and plow into a crowd? No. Did any politician tell him to? No. The only person responsible for Darrell Brook's actions is Darrell Brooks. Yes, I know that a judge released him on bail. Should he have? Maybe not, but he did. However, this man still chose to violate the conditions of his bail, get behind the wheel of an SUV and plow his vehicle into a wholesome Christmas parade. People get released on bail every day, they don't all do this. When you're released on bail, it is the responsibility of the individual to uphold the conditions of their bail. This man did not do that. That's not the judge's fault, that's his. Don't blame the judge for following the law, blame Darrell Brooks for not.
As for Black Lives Matter, perhaps he was a supporter. But did he do this because of Black Lives Matter? Well I don't know what his motive was. But if it was, that certainly doesn't hold up in court, and he'd have the book at thrown at him in a minute. Black Lives Matter has millions of supporters, the majority of whom are upstanding citizens who've never done anything close to this.
Title.
I canโt be the only one. Itโs the only thing I really hate about BTC right now. Texas, Miami, Ted Cruz, Lummis (who I really appreciate) seem to be using BTC as a political weapon. Itโs making me think twice about talking with my Democrat friends and work colleagues about BTC. I canโt be the only one who feels this way.
