The Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Propulsion (PEMP) system deduced from UFO testimonies study

I just discovered the existence of this sub and thought that the following would be of interest for this community.

Auguste Meessen is a university Physics professor who incidentally studied ufology and focused on trying to understand their propulsion system based on the evidence provided in testimonies.

He focused on a propulsion system that would require the minimum hypothesis. He supposed that UFOs are solid objects that use only the law of physics that we know. The only hypothesis is that they might use them in a way that would be new for us.

The PEMP system requires the production of an intense alternating magnetic field around the object and the ionization of air at an appropriate time and location. The charged ions are then subject to the Lorentz force which by reaction result in a force applied on the object. We can't use this propulsion method now because we can't produce a strong enough alternating magnetic field.

In a second step of his research A.Meessen found how the alternating magnetic field could be produced. It requires that the surface of the object is superconducting. This has the advantage to also shield the object passenger of the intense magnetic field.

The interesting thing is that we now have a theory that can be tested in a lab. We don't need to wait for the capture of a UFO to study how it works.

If UFOs are real and the theory valid, it implies that superconductivity at room temperature is possible. Since humans don't master superconductivity at room temperature, this supports an non-human origin. From all possibility, the one requiring the minimum hypothesis is an extraterrestrial origin.

Pulsed light vs Lazer for facial hair removal

Hello girls,

Edit: Thanx you for your answers, I'll wait for laser then.

Original question :

I should start my HRT in some weeks \o/ and I already have a pulsed light hair remover at home that can be used on face.

Facial hair removal with laser is included in my insurance (but there will be some delay) so I was wondering if I should already start with my pulsed light device or if I should wait for the laser.

Have a nice day!

Designing a pulsed system, want to make sure I'm understanding FCC rules correctly

I know this isn't ham radio, but I figured it wouldn't be a bad place to ask and it appears to be within the rules of the sub. I'm designing a pulsed radar system, which I believe would be considered a "field disturbance sensor" under the FCC rules.

FCC part 15 rules for this say the maximum average field strength is 500mV/m at 3 meters. From one of their documents, they say EIRP can be calculated as EIRP=(E_avg * d)^2 / 30, where E is the field strength (0.5V/m) and d is the distance (3m). This gives me an EIRP of 10*log10(0.075) = 18.75dBm.

Further, they specify that peak emissions are permitted to be 20dB above the allowed average emissions, so a peak pulse power can be up to 38.75dBm. Going back through the equation, this gives me E_peak = 158 V/m which in order to stay in the average field strength restriction gives me a maximum duty cycle of 0.5/158 = 0.3%.

If I wanted a duty cycle of 1%, giving me a peak E of 0.5/1%=50V/m, I could get an peak EIRP of 10*log10((50 * 3)^2 / 30) = 28.75dBm.

Where am I wrong here?

Anyone remember a toy that was like a grid of buttons that would play a beat as it pulsed left to right?

Been frantically searching for a name but can only find professional devices costing a lot!

The one we had was a greay plastic toy with rubber buttons, possibly 8x8 grid. You'd press a button and it would light up. The machine would run at a set beat, say 0.5s per column and any lit up button would sound. You could build up music and change the sounds as it played, so once it had played a note you could change that column before it played again?

I found Monome which is basically what I'm looking for, but they are like Β£500, but I can't seem to find a lower cost equivalent.

EDIT: This is the sort of thing I mean: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzcpTMO0CrI

But I'm sure I had one as a kid, so can't have been more than like Β£20 or something?

Hot Take: I LOVE the alternator in the care package and hope it doesn’t leave

Disruptor round alternator truly deserves to be in the Care package, it is TERRIFYING and fantastic to use. I see all these posts about people wanting it back but HELL NO I don’t, it fits perfectly as a red weapon. Does anyone agree with me?

Edit: people are making good arguments for it being among the best early game guns and I’ll concede that is true but I personally think there is a lot of SMGs in the loot pool rn and this is the best one to put in the CP so my opinion remains the same

Edit 2: seeing a lot of comments suggesting putting it both on the ground as a regular weapon while keeping it also as a CP weapon, I’d be down with that compromise. Curious if Respawn will ever implement this in the future.

I was reading a piece of science fiction in which a "relativistic kill vehicle", a large projectile travelling at a large percentage of the speed of light is launched at a planet, destroying it. It got me thinking, if you were to use a massive pulsed laser with a short wavelength and gigantic reflector (to decrease laser spot size), could you create a kugelblitz on the surface of a planet that would eventually consume it?

How to turn steady water flow to pulsed water flow?

Hey everyone,

I am working on a project where I am trying to create a pulsed water flow from pressurized water. The water will be pumped about 2-3 L/min flowrate and the nozzle will have about 2-3 bars (40-45 PSI) of pressure. The pulse has to be self-excited, meaning that I can't use another motor to control the flow from the nozzle and create the pulse. Also, the frequency should be about 30 pulses/second.

I have made quite a lot of internet research but the only mechanism I found is in a paper about high-pressure (150 bars) rock-breaking water jets, here. Not sure if it would work for my case.

I tried creating the pulse by using a piston pump but there is a 5 meter PVC tubing between the pump and the nozzle, which absorbs the pulses and turns into more of a steady flow at the end. So I have to create the pulse at the nozzle side.

Is it physically possible to achieve this in 2-3 bar pressures without losing most of the pressure?
Is there any mechanism/idea that you think might help me?
Some products that would give me an idea would be also appreciated!

Thanks!

The Pulsed ElectroMagnetic Propulsion (PEMP)

It may be of interest to ufologists and physicist to know about the existence of the Pulse ElectroMagnetic Propulsion (PEMP) [1] discovered by August Meessen, a now retired Physics professor of UCLΒ (Belgium). This work is based of the scientific study of reported UFOΒ sightings.

It is a perfect application of the scientific method to ufology which is, from a scientific perspective, a very difficult problem because the data is riddled by errors and fakes, and because of the attacks of skeptics that try to tarnish the researcher’s credibility and reputation.

The scientific method starts by making the hypothesis that some testimonies are the report of real flying object encounter showing unconventional properties. The second step is to construct a theory that can account for the observations. The third step is to validate the theory by experiences.

The PEMP is actually only a theory since we didn’t hear from public experimental validation yet. But, the interesting thing is that once we have a theory, we can test and study it in a lab. There is no need to wait for random and rare UFO sightings anymore. Such experiments may have already been conducted but kept secret since it is a sensitive subject. We don’t know.

The propulsion method of UFOs is a good scientific research subject compared to other aspects of the phenomenon. If these are flying objects (hypothesis 1) they must respect the laws of physic that we know well and in application on earth. By supposing a non-human origin, we also suppose that the laws may be used in an original way that we don’t know yet (hypothesis 2). For instance, they must use the principle of the force of reaction. They must thus apply a force on their surrounding to put themselves in movement. These laws provide thus strong constrains reducing the search space, that may lead to the most simple and plausible solution.

Looking at the data as well as the required magnitude, the force must be of electromagnetic origin.

To summarize, the general principle of the PEMPΒ system is that the object produces an intense low frequency alternating magnetic field and the object ionize air at the right moment. This result in a force applied on the ionized air and free electrons, and by reaction a force applied on the object. The presence of this low frequency alternating magnetic field is indirectly accounted for by many testimonies [2].

Now that he found a propulsion theory, the next question investigated by A.Meessen is how cou

How do I calculate if laser goggles are safe for usage with a pulsed laser?

I know I need wraparound goggles with high optical density at 1064 nm, but I'm confused by how to calculate if certain goggles are safe. I'm not sure how to convert from laser output energy/power to power density on the retina to calculate if I would exceed maximum permissible exposure. How can I do this? In addition, would absorptive or reflective goggles be better for this application?
