A list of puns related to "Comparison of operating systems"
Is there an objective comparison to choose a NAS OS and File system.
I am planning to build a large HDD array NAS and having the hardest time finding comparisons between NAS OS and File systems
Also one of the considerations is adding HDDs incrementally instead of all at once.
Any help plz?
Thanks
Is there any well researched study about the comparison between these two? Somewhere I read bitcoin mining costs on average 1million usd/day just for the electricity. If Bitcoin were to take over the gold as store of value or replace the current financial system, what can we say about its operating cost/mining cost when a huge chunk of world population would use it?
It should be iPhone vs Samsung. Or iPhone vs Huawei. People who say androids are shit are talking about thousands of manufacturers and a lot of these phones have shit cameras. So I'll keep using my Huawei which has a better camera then any iPhones on the market and if people wanna complain they should say "Huawei sucks" not "Android sucks".
Hello! I've been using Ubuntu for a while now, and so far, I love it. But I'm primarily talking about the UI when I compare it with another OS like Windows. What are some actual functional benefits of Linux over other operating systems? I'm not talking about things like Linux being open-source, free, more secure, etc. I'm learning App Dev, so are there any benefits that I can take advantage of on a day-to-day basis that makes my workflow easier? For example, I've heard of being able to automate some things using the bash scripts in the terminal. I'm sorry if I said something stupid and sound like a complete beginner; it's because I am.
Thank you for your time!
Linux is the worst operating system for the same reason.
That's it... that's all I've got.
Hi, I've been developing C++ / C# graphics (mainly OpenGL) for a while now and I want to switch to arch, I was wondering if arch is the kind of distro that forces you to learn what's going on under the hood (because I love that and I want to learn about operating systems) and if it has some good tools that help me develop faster and more efficiently, waiting for any advices. Thanks!
I'm not talking about little things which are annoying to setup etc, I'm talking about big things that are just outright not supported which other linux distros and OS's can do.
Before I consider buying the Pinephone pro as a daily driver, I am wondering if the following apps are available on any one OS. I understand linux to a reasonable degree, but have not coded apps before, so adding them myself isn't going to work well. The apps I use are:
-phone and text and contacts
-settings
-a web browser
-camera
-gallery
-a file explorer
-pdf viewer
-calculator
-notes
-calendar
-clock+alarm
-an MP3 player
Bonus points:
-F-droid apps useable, in particular: organic maps, KeePass XC, and Aegis authenticator
That's all I use. Is there an OS that has these apps available to it?
It's Chrome OS.
Just curious if anyone has some useful/alternative ways (and/or) places to keep ISO(s) Images of various Operating Systems.? Main reason for this post is due to even having all my ISO(s) on my 2TB HDD (completely separate from the drive that Windows 10 is installed on) I had kept getting flagged notifications from Windows Defender that the Kali Linux ISO Image on my 2TB HDD was several different "viruses/malware" and was no where near the first time this has happened however I ended up deleting the ISO from the 2TB HDD cause even after attempting to add the file path to "Exclusion List" for Windows Defender it would still have all the files listed and give me notifications at startup of my machine. Also before anyone asks or wonders YES I triple checked the ISO Hash and do so every time before creating a bootable USB Drive. Any ideas/thoughts would be amazing and helpful.
Thankz
