COMPLETE COMPARISON OF NEU AS A QOL MOD [HIGH EFFORT] (TL;DR at bottom)

For context, this is retaliation at u/BlobLionn after he made a post saying β€œneu is shit and for shitters”, as well as β€œhas AWFUL optimisations and shits on your CPU and ingame performance. In terms of a skyblock mod, every other mod does what it does, but better.” Therefore, the only good way to disprove him is to drag his very words into the trash.

(btw I’m not hating on him, I just want to make a statement. I think it's fine if you don’t like NEU, I'm not trying to force anyone, but it’s not exactly polite to start hating on other people that use a mod that you don’t like.)

I will be comparing NotEnoughUpdates (NEU) to SkyblockAddons (SBA), Skytils (ST), Skyblock Extras (SBE). There are other QOL mods, but most of them don’t have as many features as these, or do very specific things, such as Danker’s Skyblock Mod, Dungeons Guide, or Cowlection. If you want me to do those, start rioting in the comments. I will also not be including mods like Patcher or Optifine, as I think those are performance boosting mods, and therefore cannot be compared to NEU. Finally, I will be slightly biased against SBE, as it is a paid mod, as compared to all the other mods. There’s nothing against it as a mod, but with it being paid, it is less accessible, both to community members and mod makers.

Listing out all of each mod’s features would take far too long. Instead, I will just give a list of NEU’s features, and compare them to similar features from the other mods, and conclude with an overall view of each mod as a whole. All features listed are of NEU 2.0.0.

ITEM LIST AND SEARCH BAR: This is one of the key features of NEU, allowing you to search for item recipes, and even will load the HySb wiki page for added details. SBE has a search bar, but it is much harder to use and does not have wiki functionality.

INVENTORY BUTTONS: This is basically like a legal version of chat macros. Once again, no mod has this, but SBE has β€œCustomise Custom Commands''. This is still different though, as you still need to type in the command as opposed to NEU’s buttons in the inventory menu.

SLOT LOCKING AND BINDING: SBA has locking slots, but NEU has a version of slot locking called slot binding, which allows you to quickly swap two items in your inventory, with them still having lock protection from dropping, selling, salvaging etc.

TOOLTIP TWEAKS: This is a function that allows you to change some of the item tooltips, such as displaying lowest BIN price, reforge stats, missing enc

How is the concept of national self-determination viewed in a Kaiserreich TL? Is it less accepted by now worldwide in the Kaiserreich TL in comparison to our TL?

In our TL, attitudes towards national self-determination have been rather mixed, considering the tension between it and national territorial integrity. However, the fact remains that in our TL a lot of peoples did, in fact, achieve their goal of national self-determination over the last 110+ years.

What cipher suites are required in an implementation of TLS?

EDIT:

Answer for people coming across this thread in the future:

TLS 1.3 greatly reduced the number of different cipher suites that programs could support. It used to be tons in TLS 1.2, but now there are only 5. They are as follows:

TLS_AES_128_GCM_SHA256
TLS_AES_256_GCM_SHA384
TLS_CHACHA20_POLY1305_SHA256
TLS_AES_128_CCM_SHA256

Why the filters suck (tl;dr it's the implementation having the Scunthrope problem)

I've seen way too many people take the recent change as just a blanket "CENSORSHIP BAD" issue, and like. It's easy enough to assume that. Judging by the--admittedly incredibly hollow--announcement, though, it seems to have been at least attempting to solve something that'd be a genuine problem, that being incredibly illegal content such as p/do crap being generated by the AI, which would at best taint the AI so much they'd have to retrain it from scratch.

The problem isn't that. The problem is their implementation.

The AI is robust. Very robust. But it improvises constantly, as a feature. It doesn't know what it's talking about unless you explicitly tell it a certain amount of things to recall. So, like, have it recall if a character is a minor, and problem solved, right?

But that's not the case. The thing is that the filter doesn't check the actual content it's saying to my knowledge--you can tell the AI a character is a minor, and it'll go along with it... so long as you constantly re-affirm it is a minor, because it only checks the textual content itself and not the "lore" it tracks.

The result is that the AI will literally let you get away with ANYTHING... As long as you say it's something else. Likewise, if you say something innocent, and the AI's literal mind can construe it as something really sketchy? It'll stop you. And yes... This does mean that if you take to calling some things by totally different terminologies, the filters are largely useless anyways. The AI doesn't care what it Actually Is For Real, it only cares that you SAY it's something, and if the filter decides that what you're saying it is is fine, then it goes on ahead.

The main thing, above all else, is that the filters are an incredibly band-aid-y filter that does not actually work with what the AI itself can do, and it takes everything the AI says at face-value. This leads to stuff like literally saying "fuck" and a number to be caught, because the AI doesn't care about ANY surrounding text--doesn't matter if you say "fuck, that was 50 dollars", the AI singles out "fuck" and "50" and automatically throws a fit. Hell, "4 watermelons" is a banned phrase, because "melons" is slang for breasts, I guess, and I guess the memes about Facade including that in its filter was just forgotten?

This is a known problem not just in censorship, but in text filters and even text processing in general, and it's called the Scunthrope problem--where if a filter is

Comparison of Summer Pockets Fan-TL and Official TL

I just recently finished reading the Summer Pockets true route after having read the heroine routes using the fan-translation. It's a really rare opportunity that we get a work that's independently translated by two different sources, so I thought it'd be interesting to see how the two TLs compared to each other.

I transcribed parts of both translations to read side-to-side. Spoilers warning for early parts of the common route, as well as Tsumugi's route! I'm mostly interested in the fluency and readability of the TL - I'm not confident enough in my JP skills to compare the accuracy of the translations with the original text, but if anyone would like to do so, I'd appreciate that!

Hi Nikita, I'd like to point out that the current implementation of burst fire mode in Tarkov is wrong. TL;DR in the end.

I was gonna make a weapon suggestion post and suggest M16A4, which has semi-automatic and burst fire mode, which reminded me that Tarkov probably didn't implement the burst mode correctly like most of the FPS games.

And voila, after a quick offline test with MP5, it appears the burst fire mode is indeed incorrect. As shown in the video, each time you click your mouse, which simulates a trigger pull, 3 bullets will automatically fly out of your barrel. This may appear to be correct cuz that is what most of the movies/video games has been telling us. However, as demonstrated in this video, it is possible to fire 1 or 2 bullets instead of all 3 in one trigger pull. 3 round bursts don't force you to dispense 3 bullets at once, but it simply limits your capability of shooting more than 3 bullets in 1 trigger pull.

In other words, say you have an MP5 in burst mode and you pull the trigger then release it extremely fast, you may only fire 2 bullets. Then if you pull the trigger again and don't let go, the gun will not fire another 3 bullets. Instead, it will shoot just 1 bullet, because of 3-2=1. Again, this is due to the fact that 3 round burst fire is not achieved by magically only allowing you to fire 3 bullets in one trigger pull, essentially it is just putting a limit on how many bullets you can fire in full auto mode without releasing the trigger.

This issue is really negligible right now, for MP5 is the only firearm with burst fire mode in the game iirc. Although it exists, I've never seen anyone using it. On the other hand, Tarkov will inevitably introduce more and more rifle caliber firearms with burst fire mode (example: G36) or rifles with nothing but semiautomatic and burst fire (M16A4).

Noticed I said most of the FPS games got this wrong instead of every FPS game got this wrong? Yes, Squad is the only game that got burst fire mode correct afaik. You can fire an M4 carbine in burst mode without being forced to dispense 3 bullets every time you pull the trigger. In burst mode, you can fire 1 5.56mm if you release the trigger fast enough, then you can fire 2 more at max next time you pull the trigger.

For a game that pays so much attention to the finest details, I think Tarkov shouldn't lose to Squad on this and get this correct.

TL;DR: Tarkov has the burst fire mode wrong. You should not be forced to dispense 3 bullets at each trigger pull. You can fire 2 bullets or 1 bullet
