New Trinity College director of football Chris Mayne hopes to help the school return to its glory years of the late 2000s after a tough few seasons.
The former Fremantle and Collingwood is a massive off-field coup for Trinity, looking to break a 14-year Alcock Cup drought after a winless 2021 campaign.
Trinity won a remarkable five Alcock Cups in a row from 2003-07, including the last four outright, but havenβt come close in recent times.
βIβve somewhat paid attention, especially in the last year or so in my own footy journey, to how the PSA schools are going and how itβs all unfolding,β Mayne told The West Australian.
βI noticed that Trinity havenβt had the strongest last couple of years.
βItβs not really seen as just coming in and being a Mr Fix-It in that regard, but it is an opportunity for me to either present myself, my story, my philosophy and my program with people I trust into the schoolβs ethos and hopefully see improved performances from the ones and drive that from the Year 7s.
βHopefully we can build a bit of a culture there that gets the schoolβs identity back as a powerhouse.β
Mayne announced his AFL retirement at the end of last season at 14 years at the top level and has ambitions to become a senior coach one day.
The 32-year-old played 248 games, 172 at Fremantle and the last 76 at the Magpies including a grand final appearance for both clubs in 2013 and 2018 respectively.
After his retirement, Mayne returned to his home State with wife Brittany and his two young children and has been working at Trinity Collegeβs Aboriginal program while completing his teaching degree.
He was in discussions with both Fremantle and West Coast about coaching opportunities but nothing eventuated, so jumped at the plumb PSA opportunity.
βI wanted to either jump into the coaching realm and start my journey to becoming a senior coach one day or jump into a PSA school, finish off my teaching degree which is only a couple of years away and be a director of footy,β Mayne said.
βI had a chat with both West Coast and Freo and things werenβt just there right now and I said βno worriesβ.
βI was fortunate enough to still have really good connections at the Perth Football Club we were able to make an introduction and from there, I went across to Trinity and the director of footy role came u

Iβm applying for Natural Sciences and have narrowed down my choices to Collingwood and St Maryβs. Both colleges are in similar locations so that isnβt a factor in my decision and gowned formals don't bother me. Societies are quite important to me as I would like to try and get involved (thinking of trying out backstage theatre and some sport) and would like a good community college feel with students and staff. Iβm not a huge party person, but would to hang out with friends in a nice bar/common room etc.
Collingwood
Pros: Possibility of ensuite, loads of modern facilities, good bar and common rooms, large college so lots of events/societies to get involved with, good internship opportunities (would these be available to both colleges?)
Cons: Possibility of a shared room. Might be too noisy/partish? Too many undergraduates for tight knit community feel? Is the sportyness really noticeable? Wondering if its going to be like locker room banter 24/7 lol. Also is there grounds around the college to chill and relax like at St.Mary's?
St Maryβs
Pros: Guaranteed to get a single room, very picturesque with lots of grounds to hang out with friends, apparently the friendliest college, small so really get to know everyone/staff, seems like a really nice atmosphere
Cons: No ensuite 1st year undergraduate rooms, and slightly concerned about social life. I heard it has the worst bar in Durham, and the college doesnβt seem to have many facilities. Is it really that bad? Does it mean that a lot of people leave St. Marys to socialise whereas at Collingwood you can just go to the bar? Has the least societies of the three, but I heard you can join some other colleges societies (can you join Collingwoods theatre society?). Lack of things to do is my main concern with St.Marys.
TL;DR which is the best college out of Collingwood and St Maryβs that has lots of societies, events etc, nice grounds/facilities, and good community feel with people and staff support. Not massive on partying but would still like to have a good social life.
hey all, i was applying to rotman and since victoria college was my first choice, i wanted to know a few things about the college? what are positives and negatives that come w this college? are there any benefits like programs etc?
The optional admission awards/scholarship question on the Vic app is the exact same as one on the Computer Science Admission Category (about a leadership role) and I am so tired of having to write admission essays. :(
Could I get away with using the same response, or would rewriting or re-tailoring my response for each application be better? Are both the applications reviewed by the same admissions team/separately by one from Vic and one from UTSG?
Both teams will take 6-1 win-loss records into the game, with the Tigers on top of the ladder on percentage.
hi friends
I'm a first year planning to apply to the Education and Society Minor and would be taking the respective EDS courses. Can anyone who's currently enrolled tell me about the EDS courses? What's are the marking schemes/averages for the 200 level EDS courses (EDS260, EDS261, EDS265)?
Also, if anyone is planning on applying to the Education and Society Minor, dm me! I'd love to chat and meet some others going for the same minor :)
As it says in the post... I'm a commuter and there are so few places open to study now. I have a meeting tomorrow in the eastern part of campus and I don't want to have to cross it from Robarts.
Hey everyone! I was on campus earlier today, and believe I misplaced my phone on my way home from class. It's currently dead which makes attaining it also a little more difficult haha
I believe I lost it when sitting in the vic circle piazza area where the concrete sculpture that looks like a hook is on the way to/in between Emmanuel College and Northrop Frye Hall from Queen's Park Crescent East (it's near/on the way to the entrance to Museum Station). This would have been around/after 2:30 PM.
The phone is a Motorola Moto G Power. The screen has a crack in it and the case is blue with white flowers.(I've attached photos of the phone and case for reference.)
If you have it or saw it let me know and feel free to DM me, I'll buy you lunch as a thank you :)
This is almost certainly a long shot but I figured it wouldn't hurt to try lol
