Just reread the first book, and in the Epilogue by Dr. Argon, I noticed the following line:
"Holly became the the LEP's foremost expert in Artemis Fowl cases, and was invaluable in the fight against the People's most feared enemy. This fight was to continue across several decades."
Even accouting for the 3 years Artemis was missing in time, the events spanning the 8 books happen in under 10 years. Plus Artemis is hardly considered an "enemy of the people" from Book 3 onward so this does seem to hint that there was plans for dealings with them in his adult life that may have involved conflicts of interest. Of course, Eoin Colfer wrote this line long before finishing even the 2nd book, let alone the 8th, so it seems doubtful that he actually had that much of the story solidly blocked out. And then there's the fact that in the first book Colfer also manages to contradict his own canon literally within one chapter:
"Mulch burped. That was good clay." Then just a few pages later:
"The problem with dwarf gas was that it couldn't go up, only down. Imagine, if you will, the catastrophic effects of burping while digesting a mouthful of clay. Total system backup. Not a pretty sight. Thus, dwarf anatomy ensured that all gas was passed below, actually aiding in the expulsion of unwanted clay."
Does kind of make you wonder what adult Artemis Fowl II would be getting up to with the People though...

Had to repost because of spoiler tag, so tell me if I am using the wrong one, please
I started writing a post up about why I think there are links, but it got a bit long and I wasn’t sure on what most people expect to see in this sub. I was also trying to find information on the wiki, and all the inbreeding made it hard to distinguish if there was a ASOIAF equivalent to some family members, so it became a bit convoluted.
I have to admit I am still very early into the books (Clash of Kings) after putting them down during university last year, moving house etc. and I haven’t watched the show yet.
I ended up watching Lucy Worsley’s Tales from the Bedchamber on YouTube and then seeing a comment on a GRRM interview about a certain blue haired individual. It reminded me of the story of King James II’s son, James Francis Edward. Didn’t really avoid spoilers and I don’t mind too much, so in TVland there are a couple possibilities of who it could be.
I did find something that might be related to the Lannisters and relationship between Cersei and Elia, but this also comes from the wiki so I probably haven’t got all of the details. I do think that Viserys and Daenerys have a higher possibility to be based on the children of James II though.
I could post it if anyone wants, the online resources seemed a bit lacking and disjointed, with less focus on the family and more on the “legitimate” rulers.
