A list of puns related to "Client (band)"
The Doors.
They supported The Doors.
So, I'm recording a rock band that I really love and we're trying to finalize mixes and running into a bit of disagreement. I suspect that the band leader, who is in his 50's, has lost some of his ability to hear high frequencies from playing at loud volumes for many years. He sent me a reference track from the early 90's that is super bright and harsh and terrible to my ears. He's asking me to really crank the high end. I can't find any successful recordings from recent years that approach the level of brightness that he's seeking. I also want this to be a portfolio piece for myself because I'm just starting out and I love this band's music.
Any advice for navigating this situation and convincing the artist to pick something recorded more recently than 30 years ago to use as a reference? I sort of laid this out gently in an e-mail to the artist tonight but I don't expect that my e-mail will change his mind. If I just do what he wants (which I will, if push comes to shove as he's a paying client), I don't think it will produce the best outcome for his band or for myself.
Update: In the end, I was more concerned than I needed to be. The rest of the band heard what I heard and weβre making the appropriate adjustments. Two songs are even fully signed off already. Theyβre still just a touch bright for my taste but not to where I feel like itβs a technical fault.
Or to be more specific, which band has the greatest disparity between the quality of their music and the quality of their name?
My vote: The Flamin' Groovies
Such a great band with an absolute dog shit name.
I think the modern equivalent might be The War on Drugs.
Edit: (You all clearly didn't read this)
1. Don't just list bands with shitty names, you have to legitimately really love the band.
2. Not really looking for "difficult to google or pronounce" that's not really "bad" just annoying.
3. If the band's name is clearly a joke or intentionally bad I don't think that counts.
4. Sweet baby jeebus I can't believe how many people like The Butthole Surfers
So let me set the scene. I'm a software engineer, I used to work for a pretty big company that specialized in developing software solutions for their client. I was sent on-site to the client which was a big malaysian bank, to play the role of front end developer( basically make their internet banking website). They already had backend services setup for a mobile application which we were also to use for the website. There was only one problem you could only install the app in one phone and login to your account, this meant that if the customer logged into their app, they wouldn't be able to login through the website. As anyone can determine this is a big problem. I went to the back architect and tried to tell him as well as the project manager of this problem. They told me I don't know what I'm talking about and stop disturbing them and just do my job and nothing else. (I later found out that they hated the previous front end manager and would never listen to the front team.) So I sent a mail detailing the whole problem to both of them and their bosses as well. As expected nothing happened, but my butt was covered.
Fast forward 2 months, the client reviews the architecture for the website and finds that no changes have been made to the backend to accommodate the different behaviour of the website. They call a meeting and blast the 2 above guys and their boss. They claim they are backend people and don't know the difference in behaviour in a website and it was my job to let then know. So they bring me in to question me why I didn't let them know and because of me the project has been delayed 2 months and the company has incurred losses. I calmy tell them of my meeting with 2 idiots and show them the mail which they ignored. Then it was a glorious explosion. After that they always consider my suggestions.
Edit: People have been asking about the glorious explosion. Well basically the architect was called incompetent and his 20 years of experience was called into question and the project manager blamed everything on the architect.
Aftermath: After 2 months the architect was transferred to another project and replaced and the Project manager quit IT and last I heard he is trying to setup an organic farming business.
Edit2: Thanks for the silver.
Edit 3: thank you for the various awards and thank you for the gold.
I work in hardware/software support for a company that makes medical equipment and distributes to hospitals. I got a support ticket Monday from someone who works in the IT department for a network of regional hospitals. A doctor had shipped him one of our devices (from an hour away), requesting he reach out to us on her behalf to fix it. The only word she included in her email to him was "broken". That's it. Literally nothing else. I requested that the IT guy (who is the only person I'd actually spoken to at that point) contact the doctor to get some more information. To which he told me "Trust me, we will both regret doing that" and then told me how much of a nightmare this doctor is to work with. I told him we had no choice because I can't send a device in for repair with absolutely no information.
So he calls her, puts her on speaker, and after he explained I had some questions about the device, she immediately started yelling. I was listening to her 2nd hand; through the speaker of that guy's cell phone into his work phone's microphone and then out through my headset earpiece. Needless to say, her yelling was almost unintelligible. After she stopped yelling and I could get a word in, I asked her what the specific problem was and she again went on another tirade, except I heard her say the device wasn't connecting to the software properly. And I sigh to myself because I know more problems are going to arise from here.
I tell her due to it being a connectivity issue, there are several troubleshooting steps we need to take before determining that repair service is needed. She then just cursed once more, says "I don't have time for this" and hung up. Its silent for a few seconds and then the IT guy goes "a real treat, isn't she?" and asked what we can do from here. I ask him if its at all possible for him to get access to the specific terminal she was using so we can troubleshoot and of course he says no, due to him working at the central office for the entire network of hospitals, an hour away from where she was calling from. I tell him the only option is to send it back to her and tell her to call our support line directly so we can investigate the problem with her. Again he reminds me that that will only make things worse.
A few days pass and I'm hoping and praying that I'm not the unfortunate soul to get the call from her when she finally calls in. Begging the gods to inspire her to submit her ticket via email so I can talk to her that way. B
... keep reading on reddit β‘It still feels so surreal to me. What do they care what I do with my money?
Obviously the clerk couldn't tell me what would happen, if I kept using my bank account to shop on Binance. I also assume someone higher up the chain saw the danger DeFi poses for the banking system.
Honestly, fuck 'em. I'm still so irritated by the call, but it proves once again why we need Bitcoin. Sunk the rest of my fiat into Crypto right after the call ended.
Anyone else with similar experience? I'm from Europe, btw.
Edit: Thought I'd do everyone a favor:

Please stay safe and don't click any links in the comments. Also, for privacy reasons, I won't name my bank, since that would narrow it down drastically.
As usual, this community is amazing! Great to be in so early and hodl with you!
I just wrapped a project for a large corporation as a one man-band and they were supremely happy with the work I provided. Today I got an email from their in-house videographer (not sure why they didnβt use him, but it is what it is) and he asked for my project files from premiere/AE and all the raw footage I shot. He said he wanted to use the project files for future re-cuts. Obviously, this is not an ideal scenario.
Our contract states that I need to only provide a 90 second deliverable - no project files or raw footage. I want to keep their business but I donβt think itβs good business for me to give them my project files. Iβm thinking that I will use the raw as my sacrificial lamb so that I donβt have to give up the project files or lose business because of it.
The question is how do I approach the conversation with them without sounding adversarial? I suggested that we jump on a call to discuss and want to head in armed with the right attitude/perspective.
Thank you!
EDIT: thank you all for the thoughts and advice. I really appreciate the guidance. Iβve been freelancing for a few years now and havenβt been presented with this hurdle yet. Iβll proceed as the majority has advised.
For those of you that donβt know, JP Morgan Chase shorted AMC a ton in the past months. They know they fucked up big time. In April, JP Morgan Chase sold $13 Billion worth of bonds in the biggest bank deal ever in the world in an attempt to stay solvent:
https://www.pionline.com/markets/jp-morgan-sells-13-billion-bonds-largest-ever-bank-deal
According to MacroAxis, the probability of JP Morgan going bankrupt in 2021 is over 50%:

Well, now several users have been posting on TikTok recently that theyβre getting debited for BILLIONS of dollars (e.g -$50,000,000,000 in account debt). This canβt be a software glitch. Maybe once, maybe, but not this many times. No way are the software/accounting people at JP Morgan this dumb.
Itβs possible that theyβre doing this for a few days to hide debt for some liquidity test, audit, or in avoidance of a margin call of the sort, and then they can play it off as a βglitchβ and bring everything back to normal.
Again, just a theory, but we KNOW that Chase is in big trouble financially, which means theyβd be willing to do shit like this if it means they can continue to stay solvent for the time being.

NSCC-002 also may get approved today, which is known to check accounts for excessive margin debt and can catalyze margin calls to any institution overly shorting AMC. The timing of all this doesnβt appear to be a coincidence for me. Stay vigilant, Apes! π

On eero tri-band devices, does band steering work on all three bands? or does it treat the 5GHz bands as a single band?

Take note of the name "romeolola" you see in the chatbox. That's the summoner name of my bronze gf who asked me to play ARAM with her. I was in solo Q with support/bottom selected and exited out of that queue and joined her ARAM lobby.
We both queue up, I click accept where it clearly shows "Howling Abyss" on the Accept/Decline screen and when I get in, there's the ARAM background but I'm in a Solo Q match. Checked all the summoner names just to make sure and sure enough everyone's high elo. My gf got a notification saying I declined the queue and she saw me in lobby with her.
Then the client throws me back into the ARAM lobby while I was banning a champ and I can still hear the champion select music and countdown for me to ban but I can't ban anything because I'm in an ARAM lobby. We try to queue and it kicks me out of her party and won't let me rejoin. All while I still hear champion select going on in the background.
I exit client, relog and it turns out I dodged the ranked lobby so I lost LP and have to wait dodge timer out all while just wanting to play ARAM lol.
Hello everyone,
Iβve just recently completed my personal training certification and I have also completed a nutrition course. Now Iβm in the process of getting a strength and conditioning certificate. I hope this isnβt considered self promotion, Iβm just looking to get some experience and help some guys out. Win win.
Anyway, I wanted to get some experience and get into the groove of things and therefore I wanted to take on some clients free of charge for the next while.
Iβm looking for about 4-5 people. I would like at least 2 who have gym access and then people who are trying to work out at home as well. Ideally, people who are able to send pictures along with their weekly check ins so we can track progress.
I know it can be easy to take it less seriously when you arenβt paying for it, but Iβm sure there are some people out there who are looking for some help and are dedicated but just unable to so far due to financial reasons.
Iβm only taking on 4-5 people right now so I can make sure you get the help you need. I want everything to feel personalized and I want you to feel good about the process! So if youβre super dedicated and want to work with me every week for the next while (a month? 2 months? Etc.) Iβd love to hear from you.
I wanted to first reach out here as I know it can be hard and intimidating for trans guys to get help with this sort of stuff. Iβve been there and I obviously still deal with it as well.
So basically, if you are interested in: Weekly check ins (weight updates, photos, motivation level, struggles, things you need changed) Gym routines or home workouts Help with making changes to your nutrition Being held accountable Having someone to ask fitness questions whenever you need Reaching your goals
Comment below or shoot me a message and we can chat. I also donβt mind providing proof of credentials. Thanks in advance guys.
