Question, should I ask a client not to share "making of"/ "behind the scenes" images of the process pics of making his album art?

I'm very conflicted.. I do single)album digital art for this guy. I usually do rough and tumble mockups for him and send them on to him unwatermarked but at 1200px width (as opposed to the full 4-8k)

I send him millions as he tends to pick the worst ideas of the ideas and want them merged together. That's all well and good until he doesn't actually like the final piece (not surprisingly) and then I have to go back to the drawing board and do more options.. you know the drill.

He has posted a rough sketch before and I expressed I wasn't really comfortable with that and asked him not to do it again. He was super nice about it so no problem.

Now I see that he is setting up some form of patreon where he mentioned he'll be sharing "behind the scenes" images of the making of the artwork.

My gut is squirming. I don't really want the rough sketches out there as I'm not a great artist for rough sketches... My art is better in the last 10% cause I'm not a great artist I guess.. I feel that people will see the making of and be like WTF? rather than the potential of them seeing the final piece and trusting me to get there in the end.

At the same time, he paid for the image so I guess all the images are his? Even though I basically get paid less than 1 euro an hour average to work on his projects.

Should I just leave it or should I ask him not to post the making of images?

Especially cause it's for profit for him now, that's an extra squirm in my stomach.

Would love to hear your opinions!

Tldr; client is posting my rough work in his Patereon and it's making me uncomfortable.

Popular vs All album (desktop client)

I use the Mac desktop client.

When searching for "Saint Etienne" for example, I find the British band. Clicking on them shows their overview. However, there is only an option for "Popular Albums". Apparently the albums I like ("Good Humor" and "Tiger Bay") are not popular, and thus aren't listed.

Amazon has them, tho, and will gladly play them if searched for by name.

But if I didn't know about them, they appear undiscoverable.

Does anyone have a workaround?

I wonder what else I've missed.

| Looking for a TUI-based mpd client with Album browsing

Hello,

I'm setting up my listening pipeline at the moment, and I wanted a TUI-based client (or usable mouseless and lightweight) for MPD, as I will store my music on a NAS running MPD. I've been trying ncmpcpp and I like it, but I usually browse through my library by Album and this is not possible with ncmpcpp. I also read a bit about vimpc, but it seems it cannot do it either. Has any of you encountered the same issue as I do ?

Can Spotify just please add album art in playlists to the desktop client?

Spotify has had the feature of being able to see the album art without having the player up in playlists for quite a while now. Being able to see the rows and rows of album art not only helps you find the songs you love but it looks amazing. I've been hoping Spotify would add this feature to the desktop app for forever, and seeing as they rarely add anything useful to the UI, it would be a nice change.

EDIT: Spotifys newest Update IS bringing these features, but possibly in the worst way possible, check out the other comments in this thread to preview the new UI update.

Is it possible to create a 'ideal client profile' for a music album (LP, EP, etc)?

I'm in music school, and we have to come up with a client profile for our business project. I've already sold physical products online, and have defined target markets - I'm the only person in our class who chose to actually release music, and treat my EP as a product... but not sure how to define a 'ideal target market' for my EP.

Is that even possible?

(Just wondering as it seems music is so subjective... and not sure how to answer such questions as "what are my clients needs, wants, fears, dreams" etc, in a way that would tie in to the music album).

Hey Engineers! I'm a drummer currently in the mixing process of our album. What sort of feedback/notes do you find most helpful from a client?

Hello all πŸ‘‹ We just received the second round of mixes from our engineer. Headed to the studio next week to review and do some over dub work. Trying to provide the most helpful notes I can! If you have tips for drummers specifically that would be great! But all advice is appreciated. Alternatively what sort of feedback do you find NOT helpful? Our guy is incredibly nice, but I don't want to be "that musician".

Thanks!

AITA for telling my mom’s clients that if they are more than 10 minutes early or late dropping their kid off or picking them up, they’ll be charged for babysitting?

My (f16) mom tutors from our house. She told all of the parents that I babysit and they’ve been really bad at picking their kids up on time.

My mom has these β€œclasses” (6 students in the same grade at once) from 9:30-12:30 and from 1-4 a few days a week. Morning class is usually k, 1st grade, or 2nd grade and afternoon class is older kids.

Today a parent dropped the kid off at 9 and since my mom was getting ready for the class and sanitizing her β€œclassroom”, I had to keep her busy. Then another parent dropped their daughter off at 9:10.

I told my mom I was going to tell the parents they’d be charged for babysitting if they drop the kids off too early or are too late to pick them up but I don’t think she was listening.

I have the contact info for every parent in the morning class because I’ve babysat their kids at some point so I put them all in a group chat and said:

Good morning. Lately there has been an issue with parents dropping kids off early or picking their kids up late and I have to stop whatever I’m doing to entertain them. From now on, if anyone drops their child off more than 10 minutes early or is more than 10 minutes late to pick them up, they will be charged $20 an hour for babysitting. Thank you and have a nice day.”

Most of the parents said something along the lines of β€œthank you for letting me know” but the parents that dropped their kids off early today sent my mom screenshots and said this was unreasonable because they already pay so much for these classes.

My mom is mad at me for saying that to the parents and said that I’m asking for too much so I wanted to know if I was the asshole

EDIT!

Since so many people assume this happened in the States, I just wanted to say that I'm from a small country in Europe. The laws and regulations here are different than in the States.
We have a government agency here that has everything to do with registering companies and they do keep track of who's who. If you are a serial start-up guy who leaves nothing but burnt ashes behind you, you cannot do it here. You have to register the owner and members of the board of the company if there is one. If you have a prior history of failed companies or you've broken the law in some regard, you are blacklisted at that establishment.

---

First post so be gentle with me.

Iβ€˜ve worked as a independant contractor in the IT field for over 20 years, doing all manner of things from creating simple HTML sites to managing a big hotelβ€˜s complete IT infastructure.

One of the many clients I had back in the day I was coding big-ish custom websites was a rental company. Now I had heard a lot of warnings about not working with this guy that owned it. He had a reputation that he was sharp as a tack, backstabbing and conniving. He was a lawyer after all.

So, I went into the partnership with that in mind.

He wanted a new website for his renting gig, where people would list their home for rent, renters would sign up and pay a subscription to the site and he would get the whole lot.Nothing out of the ordinary there.

So we make a pretty good deal on paper, we sign it and I get started on the project.

Coding everything in PHP goes well, but he demands suddenly that I show him progress only a week into the progress. He wants to see the website front now. This is just the tip of the iceberg. I tried explaining to him that the front end work isnβ€˜t scheduled to start until after 6 weeks of backend programming and that I only had pure code to show right now, the contract we signed clearly states this. He then getβ€˜s on his high horse and demands that I put everything on hold to do the frontend first, design and then program. I, being really young at the time and fairly naive, agree to this without asking for it to be added to the contract as an addendum and start working on the design now.

Now, the contract stated that I was given free reign of the design decicions as long as I maintained the same colorscheme and used the same logo on the site.

So I make a fast draft in Fireworks (this was back when it was a Macromedia product, before the Adobe acquisition) and within two day
