I can easily find guides on how to do standard and even walking script, but the more archaic styles are quite elusive.

I'm looking for a script for the Mind domain from Exploring Eberron by Keith Baker. I have a Kenku Warlock/Cleric, and fiddling with the spell lists/domain features manually is a PITA.

As an expansionist Empire, it really didn’t surprise Jason that the most prestigious Imperial Officer Training Academy on Shil had not one, but multiple auditoriums across its campus.

Or that it had campuses. Plural.

Because of course the premiere training facility of a galactic superpower has more in common with a small city than anything else, he thought as he stood impatiently backstage.

It had certainly made for a hell of a sight on the shuttle ride over. The ‘Blackstone’ was a sprawling military complex that housed tens of thousands of instructors, officer trainees, guards and support staff. And unlike most other Marine focused complexes he’d come across that were more utilitarian in nature, the Blackstone had more in common with the Aviary. Which was to say it was lavish.

He couldn’t even begin to imagine how much a place like this cost to run.

Yet it was clear the Imperial government was all too happy to foot the bill, since the Blackstone had existed since the days of the first unification war – and had only grown in the intervening centuries, until it had reached the gargantuan size it was today. All in service to churning out more and more young officers to meet the ever-growing needs of the Imperium and her armies.

Certainly, it wasn’t the only institution within the Imperium built to meet those needs, but it was certainly the largest.

And the most prestigious, he thought as he glanced out from behind the backstage curtains to the massive audience of Humans, Shil and other assorted races that lay beyond.

“You ok, Jason?” Nora asked, standing behind him in her dress-bronze.

He just nodded, mentally keeping track of the droning voice of the General on-stage as he waited for his cue to walk out. As he did, his eyes continued to roam over the Humans who sat in pride of place amongst the frontmost rows.

Nearly a hundred members of the Terran First were present as future students of the academy. An insane number given that the regiment itself only had four thousand members to begin with. Four thousand green members at that – because he knew for a fact that none of the ex-tankers were present.

What had become of them, he had no idea. Apparently during the fighting, they’d just vanished – sans tanks. Nearly two months after his flight from the planet and that mystery seemed no closer to being solved. Some had suggested they’d fled during the fighting, while others proposed that the Alliance had brought to bear some kind of bra

This movie has been out for a couple years now, so I don't know if this is a cold take or not, but I've only just gotten around to seeing it.

The movie Midsommar is about a group of graduate students who are invited by a friend to visit a pagan commune in Sweden, called Harga. Murder-cult shenanigans ensue.

The exact age of the Harga community is never explicitly stated, but the film and the cultists themselves seem to imply that their traditions are part of a continuous cycle that has been carried down through the generations, dating back to at least pre-christian times. As a premise that's not entirely implausible, communities like that have existed, but in the case of the Harga in this movie I think that claim is patently baloney.

My theory is that the Harga were founded as a neo-pagan revivalist commune by Swedish fascists probably sometime in the mid 1920's, but possibly as late as 1945. My reasons are as follows:

Point 1: The Runes

When the outsiders first arrive at the commune, Pelle (the native) takes them by an old runestone held sacred by the community. One of the group, Josh, makes a point of asking whether the runes are Younger Futhark or Medieval. Pelle says that they are in fact Elder Futhark, a fact that surprises Josh. Indeed, all of the runes shown in the movie as incorporated in the Harga's iconography, in their writing, on their clothing, etc are Elder Futhark. For Example, their dining table is arranged into the shape of the ᛟ Odal rune, which was only found in Elder Futhark and was phased out of use in around 700 ce when the script was pared down into Younger Futhark. Why is this suspicious? Wouldn't this indicate that the Harga must be super ancient? Actually, I think it means exactly the opposite.

See, the thing about Runes is that, like all forms of writing in active use over long periods, they evolved over time. Elder Futhark (200-700ce) was in use throughout central and northern Europe during the Migration period, and scholars think it was probably derived in part from ancient Italic alphabets like Etruscan. Elder Futhark then became simplified into Younger Futhark during the Viking Period (700-1100 ce), and then with the introduction of Christianity to Scandinavia, the Runic alphabet began to be influenced by clerical Latin, so that they evolved into Medieval Futhorc (1100-1600 ce). One small community in the Dalarna province of Sweden continued writing in a variant of Medieval Futhorc up through the 19th century.

Many, like Samuel Huntington's in his book Clash of Civilization (1996) label Indonesia as Islamic, and the Philippines as Western, but beyond these simple labels, people are left hanging. Little is done to describe the structure of the societies, how ethnic groups and religious minorities are organized. The four takeaways from this post are:

• Indonesia is a longitudinal archipelagic state-aligned by trade and a shared lingua franca. The Philippines is a latitudinal archipelagic state orientated loosely by trade with China, and later on, shared religion.
• In Maritime Southeast Asia, there are cultural layers, such as Sanskritization, Islam, and Christianity.
• The Indonesian state believes Indonesia consists of multiple societies. While most Filipinos and the Philippines state assume there is mainstream Filipino society.
• The Indonesian state defines ethnicity by blood and keeps detailed records of regions' ethnic composition. The Philippines' state doesn't keep such data.

This post will be the beginning of a series of posts I will do about Indonesia and the Philippines. The purpose of this particular post is to provide a very rough framework for looking at ethnicity, culture, and religion in Indonesia and the Philippines. I won't get into the "why", that will be for subsequent posts.

Title says it, my main is a multi fighter/mage. I have Edwin, Viconia (for now), and Glint in my party. None of them ever casts spells on the scripts. I've changed the scripts to None and then back and to multiple different script types and back, got into and out of combat between each change and multiple reloads. Tbh this makes this campaign pretty darn unplayable for me, its annoying to cast Stoneskin on my mages after every rest and forgetting means I instantly have Edwin die (all he does is run into melee Leeroy Jenkins style). Let me know if anyone has found a fix that isn't just changing the script to something and back again, cause that isn't fixing this for me...

Edit: I also have AI enabled. I had no problems in BG1:EE, just SoD.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

In the new campaign I'm creating, I'm having a bishop/archbishop NPC of Kelemvor as a potential BBEG as he seeks to become a lich using the ancient scripts he discovered.

If you haven't read about Kelemvor and his followers (which I do recommend), necromancy is THE biggest no-no in their religion and they have a dedicated knight class to fight undead. Practicing necromancy, let alone pursuing a lichdom, would be the biggest middle finger one can give to Kelemvor.

Warlock acquires their power by the pact they have signed, Wizard through their continuous learning, and Sorcerer (usually) being naturally born with it, and such. However, for the divine casters between Cleric and Paladin, IIRC their power comes from the faith and the oath they follow. While minor disobey may be recoverable, I can't imagine a blasphemy like this will go unanswered by Kelemvor himself.

Clearly, becoming a lich requires an incredibly potent spellcaster to begin with. However, if all of the bishop's power comes from their faith, how can the bishop avoid losing his power before the ritual is complete?
