A list of puns related to "City of Edinburgh Council"
Got this from the local councillor, though I'd share. Survey is at the bottom
Iβve just now received a βsummary warrantβ from Scott and Co saying I didnβt pay 2019βs council tax.
Thing is Iβm a student, early 2019 I was in halls and thus exempt, then late 2019 I was in a full student flat and should also have been exempt.
This year I am also in a student-only flat and thus never at any point in time should I have paid council tax. I already went through the Councilβs online CT exemption form and they said they would issue me a new bill for Β£0, which still hasnβt happened.
Now since this is from Scott and Co and not from the actual council, and also for a year that has already gone by and in which I was 100% always in halls or in a full student flat, Iβm very skeptical about having to pay this.
Iβve tried calling them many times the past month and they said Iβm not liable to anything but here we are.
Coming from Yorkshire, my early impression of Edinburgh was that it was a well managed, well run city. I admittedly wasn't paying too much attention at the time (mid 1990s) and may be looking back with rose tinted spectacles, but it seems that some time between then and now, the city went from well run to extremely poorly administered. I accept that there will always be bureaucracy and reams of red tape where the public sector is concerned (and the private sector too at times), but it just seems to me that the council couldn't organise a piss up in a brewery. Have others noticed this too, or am I being completely unfair?
