Before I get into this, I apologize that this was posted so late. I promised a YA drama writeup months ago, but then things like Snape's astral plane wives and The Wiggles' obsessive fans distracted me, so it didn't get finished until tonight. Sorry!
What do you get when you cross the pure insanity of the Harry Potter fandom at its peak with the nightmarish hellscape of YA lit? The Cassandra Cla(i)re drama, that's what.
Before I explain the mess that is this whole debacle, I should probably explain the concept of a BNF. A BNF, or Big Name Fan, was someone who had an uncommon amount of fame and recognition within a particular fandom. BNFs were usually people who put much more effort and time into fandom than your average fan, and because of this, they were almost always adults with enough disposable income to do things like organize fan conventions, set up meet and greets, host websites, and produce materials like fanzines. Many of them were also well-known for producing fan content that others' work simply couldn't compare toβBNFs' portfolios often included things like entire novels worth of excellently written fanfiction, page after page of hyper-realistic art, or other unique contributions that no ordinary tweenage girl would be able to make without some serious skill. To an extent, you could say that most of their so-called fame was well-deserved: sure, some people were totally buying their way into fandom, but most simply put in more effort and had more skill than average, and that set them apart.
Despite that, though, the existence of BNFs eventually wound up causing problems anyway. You can make the claim that their notoriety was earned through legitimate means, but that didn't guarantee that they'd behave once they were fandom-famous, and plenty of people used their BNF positions to cyberbully and harass younger and less well-known fans. The main issue with BNFs was that small groups of them had a tendency to control nearly everything in a given fandom, making challenging them fruitless and often unwise. If you were slighted by a regular fanβsay, someone plagiarized your workβyou could try to reason with them, and, if that failed, you could call them out for it and people would rush to your defense. But if you were slighted by a big-nam

I donβt mind Harry and Allie being together, but there isnβt really anything special about them, and Allie is kinda boring. While Cassandra and Harry had more potential and could have had a good haters to lovers relationship, if they hadnβt killed her off
I saw a fan made video of them on twitter recently and got into my feelings..
They really could have made the best enemies to lovers storyline for these two but ended up having Harry hate her for stupid reasons/basically no real reason. We could have had a cute couple in the making but no.
And I didnβt even like the idea of these two together until now honestly.

All books in good or like new condition, some former library books.
I'm in Illinois under pretty much full quarantine and not supposed to leave the house. I will ship as soon as I am able.
I just finished the first season and I can't for the life of me understand what Harry's problem with Cassandra was. From the comments I gathered that they probably both ran for student president and she won and that she in his words "humiliated him" countless times. But like... how?
Would you really joke about raping and killing someone in the seriously disgusting way he did at the pool just because they won student president over you (presumably months, if not years ago)? Honestly I view him as culpable for the murder, I mean of course it's not his fault that incel who was listening to the conversation drew his own conclusions but he still said publicly he wanted her raped and dead and that just goes beyond ''boys will be boys/locker room talk'' in my opinion. I dont remember clearly if he said it before or after sleeping with Allie but either way that makes it even more disgusting.
What also bugged me is that Allie and the others (Kelly for example) never learned the true extent of what Harry said. They know he said he wanted her dead at some point but nothing more and honestly that sounds much more harmless than what was actually said.
Not to mention he goes against Cassandra from the start, shitting all over every decision she makes in a very public way even though she's obviously the smartest person around except for maybe Grizz and the scientist/doctor guy. The way he reacted to having to share his house, food and stuff was disgusting too. I mean yes, sharing houses like that is not a great idea and Cassandra's only mistake imo (maybe have 4-6 people per house or something? not 4 cramped into a room) and I get that that pissed him off... but like... he was such a selfish whiney man baby about it I couldn't stand it. It went beyond "only child syndrome". How he ran to get the gold immediately was also just plain idiotic.
Well this turned into a rant lol. Back to my point, they never further explain what Harry's problem with Cassandra exactly is and it bugs me. Or maybe I didn't pay enough attention and missed something, could anyone help?
Anyways he literally disgusts me (loved when Kelly told him what I was thinking), even more so after the coup, and I guess they are gonna redeem him in S2 but unless they somehow explain his irrational hatred for Cassandra further (and expose to Allie the details of what he actually said, I have a feeling the writers are gonna want to pair them up again sometime in the future) I won't buy it. I'd love it if th

>
>β 'Prisoner of Azkaban': Sybill Trelawney dismisses Hermione Granger
Sybill Trelawney falls short of calling Hermione Granger a Mudblood. But these venomous lines have a despicable implication: Hermione must not continue with Divination because she is a Muggleborn.
Trelawney is all about her own family name. The connection to Cassandra Trelawney, a Seer and her great, great grandmother, defines her, makes her special, gives her value. She leverages her celebrated ancestor in an attempt to win a Hogwarts teaching post.
Mundane, as in the quote, means earthly and ordinary, while Trelawney's head is in the clouds. Mundane is written with upper case M in the book*, which creates an alliterative trinity of synonyms: Mudblood, Muggleborn, Mundane. Calling Divination a noble art brings to mind the Pureblood family that resides at 12 Grimmauld Place: the Noble House of Black. Hermione is of base stock β earthbound; muddy β while Trelawney would be celestial. Noble implies a status close to royalty, like the title "Lord".
The Divination professor makes two genuine prophecies. Both times the subject is the Dark Lord. At some level, beyond awareness, she is alert to Voldemort's vibrations; Voldemort who prizes status above all. The two are forever connected in the Hall of Prophecy, or until Harry visits with the demolition crew known as Dumbledore's Army.
Divination favours magical families of distinctive heritage. Ron, the Pureblood, chooses this field of study. Harry trails in his wake. Ron has a knack for predictions, or fortunate guesses. Lavender Brown, another Pureblood, is a Divination acolyte, along with the noble Parvati Patil. But there is no substance here for Muggleborn Hermione, top of the year in everything else. And Trelawney takes no responsibility for her education. Hermione is a skeptic, which Trelawney takes personally, but across the series she proves to be open-minded and adaptable. Hermione is driven away from Divination by prejudice, a little of her own, and a whole heap of Sybill's.
Like Dolores Umbridge, another Pureblood zealot, Trelawney hates Firenze the Centaur, whose Sight is a fact universally acknowledged. Blind to the similarity of their situations, Sybill feels only the insult of sharing her subject with "the nag", and tries to get him sacked. The Death Eate

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Alot of great jokes get posted here! However just because you have a joke, doesn't mean it's a dad joke.
THIS IS NOT ABOUT NSFW, THIS IS ABOUT LONG JOKES, BLONDE JOKES, SEXUAL JOKES, KNOCK KNOCK JOKES, POLITICAL JOKES, ETC BEING POSTED IN A DAD JOKE SUB
Try telling these sexual jokes that get posted here, to your kid and see how your spouse likes it.. if that goes well, Try telling one of your friends kid about your sex life being like Coca cola, first it was normal, than light and now zero , and see if the parents are OK with you telling their kid the "dad joke"
I'm not even referencing the NSFW, I'm saying Dad jokes are corny, and sometimes painful, not sexual

Do your worst!
To start off I don't want to use this post to bash or demean the work the Hi-Rez team put into this highly requested remodel. I'm a carry main and Apollo is my most played god. I loved this character since I got obsessed with Greek Mythology when I was eight, and that love is what got me into this game despite swearing off MOBAs after a horrible LoL experience. So I wanted to do a dedicated post for my thoughts on the change. I want to make it clear that I will be slamming Apollo in the queues as soon as this comes out and am very hyped to play this new version of him.
I really wanted the Apollo redesign because he didn't at all fit my vision of what Apollo would be like when I first started playing. He was dorky, silly, and just kinda lame. I didn't like the hair, the Australian Accent felt off, and those weird little finger guns on the literal god of archery infuriated me. I didn't actually feel like I was playing Apollo and if I didn't mesh with the kit as much as I do, I probably wouldn't ever play him. He just didn't feel like Apollo.
Now we've finally got the hot Apollo. His ridiculous hair is paired back to something realistic and sexy. He has some muscle tone. The finger guns feel like magical crossbows more than nerf guns. The armor has a cool gold sheen while still being sparse to match his mobility. He has this edge to him that makes him feel like the lead singer in an indie rock band. Instead of getting slapped at the bar after a mediocre open mic performance, he's the life of the party rocking out on a huge stage with everyone chanting his name. It's a huge improvement, and yet, it still doesn't feel like Apollo. At least not what I was imagining.
The Apollo I imagined was more pretty boy pop star than edgy rocker. A Greek God version of Timothee Chalamet or Harry Styles. This Apollo would serenade you with a piano ballad before he pulled out an electric guitar to blow your eardrums out. Golden curls that sit just above his shoulders, a slender frame, and soft, inviting warmth to him. A lot of the Apollo stories I know are actually quite sweet and affectionate. He turns his lover Hyacinthus into a flower after he dies while they are tossing a discus (actually Zephyrus blows the discus to in a way to kill Hyacinthus out of jealousy). Apollo routinely educates his sons and takes an active role in their parenting, including becoming a single dad essentially in one case, and taking in a young abandoned Chiron in another. He also seems to have m

Alright folks, it's been a very competitive nomination round, but after 400+ entries, countless votes, multiple ties, and several late surges, we've finalized the ballot for the /r/DCcomics Best of 2021 Awards. We selected 5-6 nominees for each category, but some contests were so tight that we had to let in a 7th or even 8th nominee.
The ballot itself will be posted some time tomorrow, when I get around to making it. We'll keep it open for about a week. Until then, feel free to make predictions or use this as a guide to catch up on reading. In January, we'll announce the winners. January's Character of the Month will go to the top vote-getter in the Best New Character category in the nomination thread.
