A list of puns related to "Carrier air wing"
Aren't they the same thing?
Every list I look at of what a strike group is comprised of distinguishes the two but when I Google it, they seem to be the same thing. I don't get it
I know how to make a air wings the regular "slow," way. But I really don't want to have to do it over and over again a hundred times. I just want to make. All of my carriers can house 93 aircraft so I want 31 naval bombers and 62 carrier fighters, empire wide, with no deviation.
I know that Carriers are built with a sort of "default" air wing, but I want them equipped to my exact specifications, and it'd be nice to spend less time doing busy work. Also this is only of tertiary relation, but if possible it'd be nice to standardize task forces as well. I've got a hundred hours logged, and I think 99 of them are just organizing fleets/air wings.
It'd be nice to be able to spend more time actually playing. Trying to base/rebase fighter aircraft across the land and sea is it bit like trying to give orders to individual divisions not knowing commanders are a thing. There's got to be a better way to this, and hopefully someone smarter then me can share the secret.
Apologies if this is the wrong place to post - please correct me and point me in the right direction.
As I understand it, current plans are for future US carrier air wings to include 16 F-35s and 28 Super Hornets, plus 5-7 Growlers (source).
Why retain large 4th-gen strike fighter wings given their lower survivability and the need for now multiple supply chains/maintenance crews?
Why retain Growlers given that F-35s are to have the Growlers' EW pods' replacement onboard, plus their current AN/ASQ-239 system?
I know there are very good answers to these questions/reasonings behind the loadout configuration, I just don't know where to find them. Thanks y'all.
Just as a reference for mission creators, this is the number of aircraft a carrier can bring to bear at any one moment.

notes: The second A-6 squadron across the top is not part of the wing but can replace an 18 squadron at any time depending on deployment requirements.
The aircraft separated from their main squadrons by a parking spot or three are optional, in the case of the A-6's the first separated pair are the KA-6 Tankers, with the second pair being the option, able to be on-boarded either as tankers or attack aircraft.
The S-3's are NOT tanker variants, instead being a VS (fixed wing anti-sub) squadron.
The A-6E and EA-6B are from their respective mods, the C2-A is from the Military Aircraft Mod.
Assuming no major operations and a three shift system, this is the number of aircraft per shift

The Separate A-6's are again KA-6 Tankers, the C-2's obviously don't really fit into this system so are relegated to the morning shift in all likelihood.
If anyone has resources on how carriers would usually rotate aircraft in and out that would be much appriciated, but this should give a good baseline for minimum and maximum aircraft you can use in a mission.
I may also make this part of a series on mission dev if anyone is interested, with a focus on moose integration and the design of airfields and mission targets to increase immersion (essentially, a game designers perspective on set dressing in DCS).
Itβs still hard to believe just how early many of the Capcom CPS games released as they look and play amazing still but these games came out from 1989-1992. Which to me just seems wild. Anyone else a Carrier Air Wing fan?

I can't seem to assign my carrier air wings to train, or do anythjing for that matter. What am I doing wrong? Notice the training icon upper left is grayed out.

Question:
I am playing as Germany. it's 1945. I have plenty of Me 262 fighters that are the carrier variant, but whenever I try to adjust the carrier wing composition to use them as carrier fighters, the only planes that show up as a selection option are the non-jet aircraft. Doesn't matter what generation of carrier I use, (1940 or 1944 variant). What am I doing wrong?
Hey everyone! I've started a new discord called Carrier Air Wing 8--or CAW for short (yes I know it should be CVW). We're running a Jetborne Racing tournament tomorrow, and our long-term goal is to provide fun, realistic, dynamic campaigns and missions for VTOL VR. We're trying to stretch the limits of VTOL VR, and trying to make it as much of a DCS experience as possible. Join here:
