Nadine Labaki's Capernaum, portrays the lives of children in the slums of Lebanon, and it is handled with a raw, yet delicate, hand. In this video, I look at the elements of Labaki’s direction which make the film as stunning and as touching as it is. youtu.be/2nQVAU8Bbks

I'm deeply troubled by the film Capernaum

While watching this film, I couldn't help but wonder if it wasn't for capitalism, would the world have been a far better place ? I have been wondering what the Arab, African and Asian countries looked like a five centuries ago. All these countries are the ones with rich heritage with their own culture, tradition and social orders. They all might have had a very peaceful way of life in their own way despite having some kind of social ostracism, discriminations, superstitions, etc. The world wouldn't have been as chaotic as it is now.

Capitalism originated in the West. Needed new markets. Wrecked havoc on the whole world with it's colonialism. Resultantly, comparing with the rest of the world, westerns are leading a very comfortable life nowadays. The whole world is paying the price for the luxurious life in the West. The world is chaotic. Traditional social orders are broken. Economies have collapsed. Power imbalances have resulted in violent conflict among ethnic groups. People belonging to some of the ancient communities are now scattered across multiple western countries as refugees.

But the western academia dares to call it the 'new world order'. That too 'liberal world order'. I just can't stand it.

I'm not well versed in world history. So I would like hear what you comrades think.
