I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I dislike Trotskyists as much as the next guy, but sometimes you've got to take a step back and admire them (or at least their ability to perform mental gynmastics). My favourite, is their attitude towards Che Guevara - an (almost) universally loved communist revolutionary.

Guevara himself was a staunch Marxist-Leninist. And a fanatical "Stalinist" at that. He said this:

In my own scribblings and scribings I've recorded excerpts of notable Glen Cook character (and other) descriptions; originally of the Taken, and furthermore those characters who frequent his later and/or other works.

For no reason other than to do so, I'm creating this post to collect the physical/other descriptions of numerous Black Company series characters Cook has bothered to describe. May you find use in these descriptors, especially if you are trying to picture these characters in your head.

Notes:

• As these stem from my own personal notes, I might have missed some or mistyped a word here/there.
• This is not a comprehensive list. For excerpts I missed, please reply and I'll (eventually) edit this post.
• All descriptions are directly from the hand of Glen Cook, as penned in his novels.

• The Lady: The Lady came on horseback, up the ramp climbing from near the Tower entrance. She rode an animal bred for the part. It was huge and spirited, a glossy roan that looked like an artist’s conception of equine perfection. She was very stylish, in red and gold brocade, white scarves, gold and silver jewelry, a few black accents. Like a rich lady one might see in the streets of Opal. Her hair was darker than midnight, and hung long from beneath an elegant white and lace tricorne hat trailing white ostrich plumes. A net of pearls kept it constrained. She looked twenty at the oldest. Quiet islanded her as she passed. Men gaped. Nowhere did I see a hint of fear. The Lady’s companions were more in keeping with her image. Of medium height, all swathed in black, faces concealed behind black gauze, mounted upon black horses harnessed and saddled in black leather, they resembled the popular picture of the Taken. One bore a long black spear tipped with blackened steel, the other a big silver horn. One rode to either flank, trailing by a rigid yard.
• Stormbringer: . . . a tiny thing in black, almost impossible to take seriously as a danger. . . The combatants went on for maybe fifteen minutes, shredding each other. I got the impression things were not going as easy as Shifter had hoped. Bringer was putting up a damned good fight.
