I forgot how to do TLI using a GCRC 33-KS-2800(Rocket Design is a 1960 orbital rocketry Atlas-Side-Boosters with AJ-10 mid)

I forgot how to even do this and the alternative is to use my Atlas-Vega rocket, though it seems to be going over the pad limit by a few tonnes, don't know if its because I gave the Vega stage its full 245 seconds burn or what. I also heard about the idea to use an X-405(vega) alongside a Juno-6k, but I don't know if I have to have both with their full burn time. I am using Balloon tanks on the Vega stage. Also the delta-v map on github did say to only use 3.260km/s of delta-v but I feel like I could basically fix that to impact the moon in the simulation by moving the time at which it is executed at. I have also tried to find videos and other stuff on how to execute it with a GCRC, but the best I found was N9SA using an aerobee for Lunar impact in principia, which isn't the same as in the normal game orbital mechanics. The manuever was first created using the mechjeb manuever planner and then modified using the manuever editor in order to fit it with the delta-v budget of the GCRC stage

General Rocketry Question: Who do launch vehicles with non-radially symmetric boosters work w/ changing vehicle center of mass?

Mods: let me know if this is not an acceptable topic, I wasn't sure! Vehicles like an Atlas 5 in the 431 configuration have always confused me - several launchers do this (the Delta II as well) - the SRBs are not arranged symmetrically around the vehicle. This image, for example, confuses the crap out of me. Do they just compensate w/ the main engine (e.g. a fixed gimbal offset until SRB sep), or do they have different SRBs in each position to keep the thrust vector aligned w/ the vehicle centerline?

** and two seconds in, I notice the obvious typo in the title. I meant how.

Why did SpaceX build the booster-catching system so early on? I agree it's a great idea, but why not, say, 2 or 3 years from now, if a single failed landing (which is only at 95ish% success (for now) would destroy the very expensive, time-intensive structure, requiring it to be rebuilt?

I'm curious what you all think about SpaceX building this booster-catching system in Boca Chica so early on in the development of Starship.

The Falcon 9, for example, has a landing success rate of around 19 times out of 20 (well, by now maybe it's true-odds per attempt is probably getting closer to 29/30 or 39/40 or so, with it maybe taking a while for the stats to catch up to how good they are getting with each successive attempt)

Now, obviously that's already pretty fantastic, and very commendable, considering nobody else is even doing it at all, and how new of a thing it is for orbital rocketry, in the grand scheme of things.

That said, even that seems like it's way too low of a success rate for it to make sense to utilize a big, expensive, time-intensive-to-build catcher-tower system for SH/SS as part of regular, bread and butter operations, just yet. Obviously in the longer run, it's a great idea. But, I'm talking the immediate/short run here, not the medium term or long run.

The idea being, even if it lands (well, gets caught, I mean) successfully 24 times out of 25 attempts, but crashes into/onto the catcher-system 1 time in 25 and destroys it, wouldn't that be net-negative, money-wise, time-and-effort wise, efficiency-wise, whatever you want to call it, considering how difficult and time consuming and expensive the catcher tower system is to have to rebuild each time that happens?

And, also, if anything, it might be being generous to use F9 stats for the landing success rate stats, because that's the F9, which they have a lot more experience with trying to land than the SHbooster. That said, it is pretty analogous, just pretty much doing a similar thing with a bigger tube, so, maybe the true-odds-per-attempt would be pretty similar to the F9 booster landing attempts, right off the bat. Or, maybe a bit lower, at first (and then, of course, much higher, later on).

Anyway, yea, so in the longer run, it makes sense, as the landings become more and more reliable, then if the failures became say 1 time in 1,000 (and eventually in the even longer run, 1 time in a million or what have you), sure, of course, no problem, it would be a very smart, high-efficiency move, and so on (not sure where the negative-efficiency to positive efficiency crossover point would be, like a landing reliability of 1 time in 200, or 1 time in 500 or what, but, presumably it's something quite a bit higher than, say, 1 time in 25?)

But, in the very near-term, isn't it t

Armature rocketry is frustrating (in Sweden). How do i get started?

Title. My goal in life is to be a rocket engineer, but there is still time for that since i am only 18 and still in school. My question is how do i get started? Just for some context i have read many articles and watched many videos but no actual experience, except making my own sugar motor. (never launched it, just ignited it under a rock with a water hose in hand). I live in Sweden and if you don't know there is nothing here but endless forest. At least where i live. No clubs are active as far as i know. I was pretty much ghosted by the one i managed to find and they are not doing much last i heard. (still searching for a field to launch ammeter rockets). Thing is regulations are stupid tight and i have had the police called on me for trying to get potassium nitrate. (lol i was just 15 and my dumbass tried to get 10kg xD). What i am looking for is simply a way to start. I have checked up on laws and they leave me frustrated. But i might have a way to be able to practice rocketry legally. (just ridiculously more expensive and time consuming than necessary). How do i find a place to launch in a place with no barren fields and forest everywhere? I am just so frustrated. I see no way around these problems. My only interest might as well be outlawed. Please only posts that help me in my situation, no thing of the "try and get a new hobby" kind of deal. I am tired of people telling me i cant or should not be allowed to do what makes me happy. I know i am young and inexperienced and that's why i am here. Thanks for your time.

Any tips for a beginner in TVC tech for model rocketry?

So far i have printed a TVC gimbal and put the servos in, but for control, is it necessary to do a full PID controller or can i just do a PI or P controller? I have a few months to work on this and tune it, and i don't really have any super time consuming extracurriculars right now so i have quite a bit of time.

My planned rocket is about 75 cm tall, 14 cm in diameter, and i plan on using either a C, D, or E Estes engine. I currently have a couple of old Arduinos, and some altitude/pitch sensors and I was hoping on using those for control, due to having a bit of experience with the Arduino ide.

any tips are welcome :)

What are the most essential tools for a new school rocketry program?

I’m starting a rocketry program at the school I teach at with a primary focus on competing in The American Rocketry Challenge. Currently, I have about 14 kids, a space to work in, and computers to work on.

We’re currently fundraising and I want to make sure I get the most bang for the buck when purchasing equipment and tools. We’re shooting for an annual budget $2000-$2500 for everything including consumables and travel (assuming we make it that far).

What would you all suggest is essential and what is nice to have as far as tools and equipment go?
