A list of puns related to "Bob Blewett (cricketer)"
I've only had a small interaction with Kris Srikanth who came to my coaching center as he was former local teammates with my coach and he was basically what we see in the commentary box. Full of charisma and enthusiasm. He congratulated me on a wicket during a game we played. I was 12.
I would say Trott's 184 and Board's 169 vs Pakistan 2010 at Lord's due to spot fixing controversy
Brad Haddin's 2013/14 Ashes at home (493 runs in eight innings with an avg of 61.62), due to Mitch Johnson's absolute demolition of the England side
Gambhir's 97 vs Sri Lanka in the 2011 ODI WC Final, overshadowed by Dhoni's 91 and Jayawardene's Century.
Probably many more
Sunil Gavaskar is one example that comes to mind. He retired after an amazing innings against Pakistan in Bangalore. Who are some other cricketers who didn't drag out their careers?
For me, its Kuldeep Yadav , still remember him bamboozling people with his left arm leggies , he was so good at one point , unplayable in IPL , was our first choice spinner preference in all formats , cant believe this happened . Also Vinod Kambli

Same
People who may be a pleassure to know personally and an asset to the team irrespective of their forms at that moment.
Ex. Finch has a quintessential Australian leader personality who will hit his way to a ton. And even when he isnt he is exactly what Australia needed after sandpaper and a great face for the team. Honest in post match interviews and not shy of saying the "wrong" thing. Also, obviously, DK.
Probably all we say will be based on interviews and thats what i am looking for. We obviously dont know them, but its all based on the vibe.
Name of that cricketer. And the first thing you gon do
I donβt get it, there seems to be a disproportionate number of cricketers that use different hands for different things, itβs strange. Why!?
The thing that triggered this was looking up Marco Jansen on Cricinfo. He bats right handed, bowls left. This also lead me to his twins Cricinfo profile. He bats right handed, bowls left.
You look at the England test team alone.
Jimmy Anderson bowls right handed, bats left handed.
Broad bowls right handed, bats left handed.
Ben Stokes bowls right handed but bats left handed.
Leach bats and bowls left handed but throws right handed.
David Malan bats left handed and bowls right handed.
Jos Buttler bats right handed but is said to be left hand dominant with his keeping.
Rory Burns bats left handed and the few balls heβs thrown down in first class cricket have been right handed, he also told Sky Sports in an interview that the reason he bats like he does is because his right eye is more dominant and he tries to get this eye closer to the ball.
Why is this? Only reason I thought of was maybe it was because of encouragement from parents/coaches to use both hands from an early age or maybe that being a left hand bat increases your chances of playing international cricket because it gives you a point of difference but surely this canβt be the case in all of these. Maybe itβs more of a technical thing as it may be better for your dominant hand to be on top instead of being your bottom hand on the bat.
I know Mike Hussey said he switched hands because he wanted to be like Allan Border and after all left handed batters do somehow just look better but if anyone can offer any further opinions then thatβd be appreciated.
I also wonder if players from other countries have a similar proportion of these players or itβs more of an English thing.
Thanks in advance!
Mohammad Hafeez has just retired at 41 but why is it that Pakistan players (batsmen in particular) keep playing till they are so old. There are so many examples recently of Pakistan that have played real old and actually peaked post 35.
On top of this, there are always rumours that they are actually a lot older than their βcricket ageβ. So if true then these players at actually peaking at like 38-40 and playing until mid 40s.
Four questions; why Pakistani batsmen peak so late in comparison to other nations? Does anyone have any substantial evidence that Pakistani crickets fudge ages? Why is this age just accepted and they arenβt they called out by colleagues and childhood friends etc? Is this phenomenon matched in lower level cricket at regional level in the country or do players retire earlier when they are not international players?
Really interested to hear opinions, especially people with higher knowledge of Pakistan cricket than myself!
This is taking for granted that
They will be completely and brutally honest.
They can be politically incorrect.
They will be able and willing to express their feelings and thoughts to the t.
They will hold no one's elses feelings into account.
This type of an autobiography may never be written/interview never given, but for imagination's sake.
>Rahul Dravid : His Indian captaincy stint. Plus his time as the coack of this new breed of Indian Cricketes. How he made them this fearless? Where did he teach them to shudder off the inferiority complex? Also, a honest to God take on his wacky relationship with Wicket keeping.
..
>Aaron Finch : His account of sandpapergate. His elation at being capatin, but the gloom of the situation it came in. Having to captain a team into WC semis with 6months of prep. With all the imagine making, what it felt like to be suddenly asked to fix what you didn't break. How was it to capatin Smith and Warner in the WC. I hear things about him being a "bogan" and the former capatin and VC were Sydney folks. I think thats a big deal in Aus.( Paine could have a bit to say here too, but i guess we already have some of his accounts.)
..
>Ben Stokes : What the moment of the ball hitting his bat in THAT WC final meant to him? Did he feel bad? Or somewhat happy? England won the cup fair and square. It wasnt in their hands. They played really well and no one would say a world if they had won the normal way. But does that moment keep him lost in thought from time to time?
..
>I would love to know from Indian and Pakistani cricketers who had played in each other's nation for some time and had to stop doing so post 26/11. How exactly was that feeling? Did it feel unfair? But you had to stick to your love for your land. Then again, they were your friends, does cricket feel like another innocent victim of the horrors? ..
What about you guys? And how do you think those above players will answer to my questions?
I'll start. I pick MSD. I know, I know, y'all will say it's the classic answer from an Indian. But I choose him because he's been my idol growing up. He's such a simple and down to earth person and I would like some of his advice.
Who would you guys pick?
I was looking at some scorecard, and I was amazed Mohammed Kaif and Mohammed Azharuddin played a Test Match together !
From the likes of Joe Root to Elgar, so many test cricketers enter the field with sweat stained dirty caps. Wonder what the deal is.
Who do you have? Is it an opener shoved into the middle order? A bowler whoβs action was continually tweaked? Or someone picked sporadically which ultimately hit their international career?

The executive committee of Sri Lanka Cricket at a meeting held on the 7th of January 2022 took the following decisions in respect of players that have retired and/or intend to retire from national cricket.
National players who intend to retire from national cricket should provide three monthsβ notice to Sri Lanka cricket of their intention to retire.
Retired national players who wish to obtain ββNo Objection Certificatesββ (NOCs) to play in overseas franchise leagues will only be issued to such players who have completed six months of their effective date of retirement.
Retired national players will be considered eligible for local leagues such as the LPL, only if they have played 80% of matches in the Domestic Cricket Competitions conducted in the season prior to the conducting of the league.
The above decisions are to take effect immediately, Sri Lanka Cricket said in a statement. (NewsWire)
A good example for this would be V.V.Kumar. He was the first to reach the 300 wicket, and 400 wicket milestones in Ranji Trophy, yet played only two test matches for India!
Gagan Khoda is another example that comes to mind (not in the same league as VV Kumar though). He was picked as an opening batsmen, and performed pretty well in the two ODIs he played for India, but never got picked in the team afterwards.
Who are some other players who belong to this category?
The drama spans many threads
For a bit of context all players have been showing their support for the movement through various gestures.Quinton de kock was the only one who hadn't and he has now pulled out of the match as kneeling is mandatory
