[TOMT] [TV Series] [1990s/early 2000s] Alien crew learns about Earth?

Okay, I vividly remembering watching this show somewhere between maybe 2007-2010? It was on VHS so that could render my guesstimating of the years useless. The show featured a cast of human actors who played aliens, there were three crew members. The stern leader had a green fish ear prosthetic, like the head and ears but not the face. A human face. All the other actors had makeup like this, however his chubbier and dumber assistant had a more orange fish ear pattern and the smart technician(?) woman had spikes all along her head. The were accompanied by a floating robot who was a round gray head with one β€˜eye’ and two antenna on the sides of her head. She had a higher pitch mechanical voice. She would usually be the one telling the crew facts about whatever it was they were β€˜learning’ about for the episode. Their whole mission was to learn about earth, even an alien leader (definitely looked more alien than the crew, having a large head prosthetic/helmet) with i think green skin and a red and black cape β€˜calling in’ to check on them. The only two episodes I remember was an episode about the ocean and an episode about Egypt (they were the only available vhs’ of this show at our local library so those were the only two episodes I’ve ever seen.

Usually, you’d see the spaceship fly around the setting, occasionally crashing down (this vaguely resembled a transparent png kind of being thrown about on top of a green screen over footage of the setting? Very vague and I apologize).

The only plot/moments of the episodes I remember are listed as follows:

Ocean:

  1. They see a neighboring submarine underwater, the closer they look, they see a woman inside of it. The entire crew screams and immediately fly up and away from the craft.

Egypt:

  1. We learned about mummification being similar to that of taking the liquid out of grapes, I believe the crew found this fact very weird.
  2. I think one of the landmarks cursed the leader alien, at some point he leaves the ship to kneel down in the sand, either worshipping or begging it to stop.

If anyone knows what in the world this is, I’ll be happy to know I am in fact NOT crazy and didn’t make any of this up. Thank you so much!! I’m so sorry for the spotty memory and long post I just really want to find this show, even if it’s to know it’s actually real. Any help at all would be absolutely appreciated!!!

I love British TV series but it took me en embarrassing long time and subtitles to figure out that they don't call older woman" Mom " and the word was Ma'am all along.

English isn't my native language (not even my second language). But I do love to watch british series in english and if available with subtitles(not often the case somehow). Imagine my confusion when a unrelated looking 30 year old calls the older women character Mom. Because it didn't happen to often on my viewings (maybe Ma'am isn't that common) I was confused but I put it always aside as me being not attentive enough. Only with the magic of subtitles was I able to understand how much of an moron I was.

Metal and black sand

(this is my fist time posting, hope you guys enjoy 😊)

There are human Wizards and Witches, But, No Human is more terrifying than an Artificer. What is an Artificer? Well you have human magic users that cast devastating blasts of energy to destroy things, yes, But, that is just a wizard, an Artificer simply doesn't go to that degree of directness, a Artificer only uses magic to conjure metal and black sand.

I was a lieutenant of her radiances 59th Elvan infantry, we were At the battle of Greywater where we were pushing back the orcs of the northern mountains. The battle wasn't going to go well, the orcs had us outnumbered 10 to 1, at least until the humans arrived. The human force that showed up numbered only about 150 - 200. Such a small force

The Human commander walked up to me and announced that the 1st support group of the United Human Kingdoms have arived and that they brought 100 medics, 80 armed infantry and 5 War Artificers

If dread could be described, it would have been the look on my face.

"Only 80 combatants?" I said

The commander interjected "85" "and that should be more than enough to push these bastards back from whence they came"

We marched up to the front lines an hour later with the new human reinforcements to bolster my own only for one of their War Artificers to walk up to me

"Ma'am, for us to more effectively attack, may I recommend holding the line long enough for me and my comrades to get ready for a charge?" The man spoke

I agreed ,I worked with spell casters before, if they were asking for time for a spell it's going to be a big spell. I began directing the Elvan forces until noticed the Artificer's conjuring metal and metal and fussing pieces together with magic, only to hand off the completed contraptions to the human infantry, these metal contraptions the infantry then set on the ground and then go to one of the other Artificers that conjured metal balls approximately half a imperial foot in diameter and slightly glowing with red energy, and another conjuringΒ  black sand and handing out bags to the infantry. This sight was very unusual and I had to ask

"Excuse me commander? But what exactly are they doing?"

The Commander was busy handing around bags of the black sand "we are almost ready, we have emplacements up along the back of the line, are you ready to get this party started?"

Stupid human expressions

"On your command then?" I asked

"If you don't mind" said the c

What movie do you think would have been better suited as a TV Series?

I don't know if this question has been asked before but I will ask it anyway. What movie do you think would have been better suited as a TV Series?

Some films try to cram wayyyyy too much into too little and feel overstuffed as a result, personally, I think the recent Matt Damon film Stillwater would have been better as a crime miniseries since there was just too much put into the film it felt overstuffed and questions were left unanswered

What films would you say?

I feel like the Witcher series is the bar for fantasy TV series for now

We just finished the second season and I feel like the second season is just as good if not better than the first season. I've read the books up to where they're at in the show. There's a lot of changes, especially in the second season, mainly expanding and adding characters (the broad strokes are still pretty similar), but I think overall they're more positive than negative. What does everyone else think?

Hawkeye the TV series made my deaf sister happy.

I have a 13 year old Deaf sister. She's been Deaf all her life. We watch a lot of movies together. It's one of the things she can actually enjoy doing with other people. We've seen all the Marvel movies and series and she's watched them too. Anyway. When she saw Hawkeye was hearing impaired she beamed with a smile because she felt he was like her now. I too love how the show handles deaf and hearing impaired characters. It really gives representation to the deaf and hearing impaired people in the super hero world.

Just wanted to share as this was something that just made me smile.
