A list of puns related to "Biological data visualization"
I am looking for datasets, preferrably of real businesses that I can use to create my portfolio project for Business Intelligence and Data Visualization.
Can anyone suggest where I can find such datasets?
I was having a hard time finding examples of D3.js in React, so I put together a few examples of how to adapt chart examples and tutorials online to a React app.

Searched and found a very useful site for visualization of Alberta COVID data, run by the Health Infonomics group out of the U of C Cummings School of Medicine.
https://covid-tracker.chi-csm.ca/
Of particular interest is the Severe Cases in Alberta (Hospitalizations, ICU admissions). The visualization provides views of both absolute numbers and as a percent of total active cases. This is useful in assessing and modelling the impact on the health care system of the variant - taking into account it's virulence and symptom severity.
Also worth looking at the COVID Outbreaks visualization, and the variant comparison visualization.
Recent graduate with MS in Information Management (very similar to information science). Looking to build my freelance portfolio, and would love to do some low-cost work to benefit us both. Willing to work on some smaller projects for $10/ hour.
I can help analyze your business data, create visualizations, teach you statistical theory, or help you design a database - really anything in the data science & business intelligence space.
Please post here or message me if you are interested!
I was wondering, what's the best free place to create a portfolio, for those who are looking to create a portfolio for their freelancing business intelligence and data visualization career?
Hi there,
I am a total newbie and this is the first time, I am trying to create a Business Intelligence and Data Visualization portfolio. The portfolio will consist of 2-3 projects and it will be hosted on a website. The project pages will then be linked to LinkedIn. The goal is to then apply to freelancing websites like Upwork.com.
I am looking for datasets which I can use to create porftolio projects where I can show off my skills. I am looking for a website where I can find such datasets where I can choose one from. If someone here has a dataset I can use that would be great as well.
If I had to narrow down my interest, I would say that my primary interest is providing small businesses business intelligence services as a freelancer. So a dataset of a small business where I can create a dashboard along with a business intelligence report is the best fit.
In my opinion, the following tools are great to get started with data visualization, even if you only have basic design/programming skills!
I use it to build interactive web apps that allow users to not only see the data, but input their own information into the app.
Now to use it, you do need to have some basic Python knowledge, but itβs very easy to use, and itβs free!
One of the best tool to create various diagrams (flowcharts ), itβs free, and you donβt even need to login or register to use it.
This is a great tool to take your infographics to the next level, as it allows you to make them interactive.
Itβs a freemium tool, but the free plan is pretty generous, and pricing plans start from only 9.90!
I use it when I want to make whiteboard videos, works quite well if you want to make Youtube explainer videos or even ads. Paid plans start at 39$, which is pretty fair in my opinion.
This tool is kinda like Canva on steroids, you can use it to make presentations, social media graphics, infographicsβ¦ I love to use it to make video infographics, like the ones that the Youtube channel Vox does for example. Compared to the other tools I have listed, itβs slightly more expensive (paid plans start at $49), but totally worth it in my opinion!
PS: I love dataviz so much, i made my own product called Polymer Search. I use it to create interactive web apps and charts (scatter plots, heat maps, etc.)Β Check it out and let me know what you think!
Hi there,
I was wondering, what's the best free website out there, to showcase your work in the form of a portfolio for employers when you are working in the field of Business Intelligence and Data Visualization?
I was told to use github, but that place seems to be most suitable for software packages only and not for uploading written reports, presentations/ppts and other formats.
I'm a brand designer for almost 10 years and I had a client from a VC-Backed Data Company that needed help to redesign its charts and graphs to their new brand identity.
It was a "simple" task for me, however, they pay great. This got me into Data Visualization Design and stuff and it would be interesting to learn a new skill for the entire 2022.
I found Tableau a very helpful software to apply data visualization without learning to code and it helped me adapt fast. It feels it like itβs the Canva version of Photoshop.
To all professionals here, how's your career with this software? Do you think this skill is a great combo for brand/graphic designers that worked with Adobe softwares for more than a decade without learning to code?
Hello! I am working on my capstone project about the impact of data visualization on exploring food intake tracking data. If you are at least 18 years old and track your food intake, could you help fill out a survey?
The survey aims to learn about the experience of food intake trackers and how they feel about the data visualization of their data provided by the tools they use. The survey has 13 questions with optional demographic questions and will take you 5-10 minutes.
This study has been approved by RITβs Institutional Review Board (IRB): Human Subject Research Office (HSRO). Your response and information will be kept confidential and be used for the study only. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to leave comments below or email me at cz7661@rit.edu.

Hey, was just checking out a project and I saw they neatly visualized the whole data set in a 3D space.

What's the easiest way to produce a visualization like this of a data set ?
Hey all, this question is mainly targeted at fellow developers/data engineers out there. I'm looking for game by game data for players. I can't use basketball reference.
Curious what you guys use, if anything?
Looking to understand better which data visualization tool is preferred amongst analyst and business intelligence folks. My company is using a clunky and outdated BI tool and Iβm hoping to build a case out for moving to a new platform for my immediate team. Feel free to comment on this thread! Would love to hear everyoneβs opinion. Thank you!
With introduction of Data Hub into FM22, data visualization is becoming much more useful than ever before. Here I want to mainly focus on Pass Map, which personally I think it is one of the most useful data visualization that helps you identify the problem lies within your tactic.
I am going to use my current FC Krasnodar save in Russian Premier League as an example.
1. Build a tactic
Right off the bat, do you see any major flaws in this tactic?
This is a counter attack system I built that aims to absorb pressure with a narrow defensive width and lower line of engagement. When we win the ball, using quick transition with high tempo and direct passing with a wide attacking width, hoping to bring physical presence of Cordoba and McBurnie with deep crosses from Claesson and both full backs or angled through ball from Cabella. But does this work in an actual game?
2. Reading Post Match Pass Map And Identify The Problems
I drew 0-0 with Dynamo Moscow created no clear cut chances using the above tactic. Here is the data visualization of our passing in the game:
Some problems can be identified
3 major issues appear with the help of pass map:
No.8 Yury Gazinskiy as the ball winning midfielder on defend duty is ineffective during attacking transitions.
Although he was able to link some plays but his positioning due to the nature of a ball winning midfielder on defend duty was offering us a poor passing option. This resulted in very frequent number of backward passes between him and Sasha, and eventually led to Sasha's frequent back passes to our keeper as Dynamo presses.
No.52 Tonny Vilhena as the central midfielder on support has been completely isolated.
As we could see from the map, the only passing combination from Vilhena is rare backward passes to my LCB Krychowiak. This is unacceptable as he supposed to be the more creative player in my midfield partnered with Gazinskiy. He failed to support both my strikers and Cabella out wide on the left. In fact, with no effective combinations between my LB Ramirez and Vilhena also tells us that he wasn't offering much during the attacking transition through out the 90mins.
**There are NO effective combinations between my striker
... keep reading on reddit β‘I've gotten into data analytics recently and have been studying it for the past 2 months. Completed courses in SQL and advanced Excel, and currently halfway through the Google Data Analytics course. Soon I'll be delving into data visualization, SQL and Excel in-depth before moving on to Python/R.
As I'm watching these tutorials and learning coding/data visualization/excel analysis, etc. by trying them out myself, will I need a second monitor? Asking since I was wondering if I should take advantage of the current Black Friday deals.
As an enthusiast learner, I am delighted to share the result of my analysis through visualization of the data mined from the Open Government Data(OGD) Platform India as a beginners project in Data Science and Visualization..
I would also like to add that the platforms like geeks for geeks and kaggle helped me lot in understanding the concepts and served as a great reference material.

Iβve recently started a job as a data analyst for a non profit. There is money available for any data visualization training Iβd like to take. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good program? Iβll be using Tableau for now, though potentially could purchase another program down the road.
