Hello stupidpol. One of your resident tankie USSR apologists here (or, as thefunhouseofideology calls it βStalinists with Oedipus Complexes").
I would like to begin by discussing my sudden turn from banal shitposting to attempting to engage with Stupidpol more critically. Why is this? Why can this matter?
It is primarily due to the tenor of Stupidpol these days, particularly in regards to our usual pet issue of βRightoid Creep.β What are the criticisms of this Rightoid Creep? That they derail discussion, exacerbate reactionary tendencies and degrade the Marxist character of this sub. Many claim that we are past the point of no return.
I disagree. The Rightoids are not a problem, but rather there must be a certain amount of βRightoid Repellantβ that functions in the same manner that our anti-IdPol stance acts as a βLibtard Repellantβ.
How does one create a Rightoid repellant?
By posting theory. They donβt read this stuff and think weβre fucking stupid for trying to use it.
Further, I am hoping that my feeble attempts to create, repurpose and interpret theory will inspire more of you to do the same. Increasing our high effort posts will have the effect of reinvigorating our Marxist character, as well as signal to those who come here for the βdunking on liberalsβ that this sub allows for that this is a Marxist subreddit first and foremost.
Our disagreement with IdPol stems from several places; the chief criticism we have to level against it, is that it is Identity Essentialist and thus inherently counter-Revolutionary.
Our disagreement with IdPol is not that we want to be chauvinist misogynists, that we want to be virulent racists, that truly all we desire is an excuse to make fun of βminoritiesβ and so on and so forth.
It is my hope that through these theory posts we can reaffirm our commitment to these ideological positions.
This does bring us, then, to the actual topic of this post.
What makes a class Revolutionary?
Further, what does it mean to be reactionary? What creates this social phenomenon?
Building off of these questions, how can we determine the Revolutionary or reactionary character of classes, and how can we use this in the project of building an actually existing socialist American state?
βββββββββββββββ
Let us begin with the question of what makes a class Revolutionary. This is, in many ways, Marxism 101 but I believe it is important to discuss. First, I appreciate theory that addresses all of the claims it makes wi

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
This question relates to a very specific era of the jazz / improv avant garde that I think is very under-discussed.
I have this year read Teruto Soejima's Free Jazz in Japan and Bill Shoemaker's Jazz in the 1970s.
Both books spend a significant amount of time discussing a very specific period of jazz that emerged in the late 1970s and grew out of the developments of the 1960s and early 1970s, but which defined itself against that earlier era by, among other things, taking an irreverent stance and exploring concepts like "play" or aleatoric devices.
To me, this appears to be a free improv analogue to punk / new wave that was also ripping through mainstream music at this time.
Shoemaker calls this the "Second Generation" of Free Improvisation, and he points to musicians like Steve Beresford and John Russell as examples of the English scene.
Soejima for his part talks (in the English translation) about the "Pop Avant Garde" (presumably "pop" here is in the sense of pop art rather than Madonna) that is exemplified for him by the work of musicians like Hiroaki Katayama and Kazutoki Umezu, but also by the work of Cobra-era John Zorn.
I do not know much about the work of any of these musicians, save for Zorn's later work, which, before he got sidetracked by staring into his own pupik, appears to develop some of these ideas.
Many of the English musicians mentioned by Shoemaker appear on Bailey's Company releases, and show up playing with other artists from a similar time, like Sabu Toyozumi, Fred Frith, Toshinori Kondo and George Lewis.
Clearly, they were very present on the New York, Tokyo and London scenes at the time. I would expect that other European scenes would also have had similar groups, particularly since Soejima stresses that the Japanese artists were very popular in Germany.
However, given their significant presence in both of these books, I am surprised at how little they, or similar musicians, are discussed generally by fans of avant garde jazz. Contrast this to other movements at the time like Prime Time and associatesβ harmolodic funk.
Possibly this is because aleatoric compositions or concepts like "play" don't make for satisfying records. Alternatively, they might not have had much influence. I also note that many of the album's are released collaboratively, rather than under one me or a stable group, which often reduces retrospective visibility in jazz.
Anyway, I would be interested in hearing from anyone who lived through this
... keep reading on reddit β‘Ive been interested in shoemaking for a few months maybe august of 21. Unfortunately ive undergone a lifestyle change and now live out of a peterbilt but i still want to get into the hoby of shoemaking.
How do the experienced souls if this community feel this could work or how it wouldn't work? I understand that i couldn't keep leather with me on the road but i can bring basic tools and uppers that i can put together during the times i go home.
After watching countless videos of the Japanese masters at work i believe i can make it work for me with such limited space.
Im mainly interested in making boots over dress shoes based on my new line of work. How much should i expect to pay for tooling once i get my bills wrangled back in line? I live about an hour away from a tandy leather supply.
Thank you for your time

Hey guys.
I know a lot of us who are on the shorter side tend to be pretty self-conscious about our heights. I myself am 5β0β / 152cm and have been dysphoric about it ever since I stopped growing at age 12. My younger sister is more than half a foot taller than I, and she surpassed me when I was only age 13.
I have spent so much time laying in bed throughout the years, depressed, sobbing, because I have always wished I was a tall, bulky guy. I wanted to be a protector, a strong athlete, the guy you call over to your house when you want to get rid of that huge old oak dresser. But here I am, noticeably smaller than the average woman, and much more noticeably than the average man.
This past year I have slowly began to accept myself as a trans guy, which has brought on even more lamentation for my lack of height. I have been looking into shoe lifts, surgeries, and read up on vertical lengthening optical illusions, all just to try to look and feel taller because I am exhausted from feeling too small or weak to be the man I want to be.
Today, I overheard a conversation between a guy and his friend, discussing the jockey training program he recently signed up for. I was happy to hear this because I, of course, grew up in the good ol' hillbilly state of Kentucky in the United States, which is famous for horse racing and the Kentucky Derby.
That conversation made me realize - the average height of a jockey is 5'2" / 158cm, both male and female. These dudes are lightweight, extremely small, but they are competitive athletes. It is almost physically impossible for a tall person to be a jockey, just because they need to meet the weight requirement and have enough strength to ride and control their racehorse.
Here are only a few of the many current and retired famous male jockeys found in horse racing:
- Bill Shoemaker, 4'10" / 147cm
- Eric Cancel, 5'1" / 155cm
- Laffit Pincay Jr, 5'1" / 155cm
- Victor Espinoza, 5'2" / 158cm
- Dylan Davis, 5'2" / 158cm
There are hundreds if not thousands of other short males found in other sports, and there are millions of other guys out there who are just as short as us and never let their heights stop them from living great lives, and even gained an advantage from their stature, like those jockeys. If you're still reading this, thanks for taking the time and I hope this was encouraging to some extent.
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?

So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
