Jo McRowan & her husband Ravi Chopra run multiple foundations in Uttarakhand. First on Ravi Chopra:
#Activist who was earlier appointed by Supreme Court in High Powered Committee to decide the "environment impact" of roads in Indo-China border areas, whose analysis is being cited in the case to scrap the border defense roads and on basis of whose analysis, SC had stayed many hydel projects based on his recommendations, gets funding from govt of Germany & Nepal NGO with China focus & individuals from Hong Kong.
Ravi Chopra was the only individual in SC appointed committee who was against wider defense roads on Indo-China border.
>Chopra wrote, βA section of the defence road to the India-China border and a bridge across the Rishiganga river on that road have been swept away, lending credence to our argument for disaster resilience in the region.β
>Chopra further said that in a recent report submitted by him and two other members of the HPC to the apex court, they had pointed out that βdisaster resilience is more critical than simply wide highways.β "Several chronic landslide-prone locations and stretches, where the slope stability is precarious, exist on the three Char Dham highways identified by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) as defence feeder roads. Ministry of road transport & highways (MoRTH) data submitted to the HPC has identified 161 sensitive locations in 574 km, which is about one location every 3.5 km,β he said in the letter.
Supreme Court appointed the same Germany & China funded expert to decide whether hydel projects should be allowed on Indo-China border & 24 hydel power projects in Uttarakhand were stayed by Supreme Court based on his recommendations.
> He further said that βno decision, however, has yet been taken on under-construction or commissioned projects.β βIn view of the precious ecology and fragility of the region, the concerned authorities could have and should have taken a view on these projects. Unfortunately, all the under-construction projects continued their construction unhindered.

... keep reading on reddit β‘Have you heard of βA year of reading the worldβ? It was a project by a UK-based author Ann Morgan who read a book from every country of the world and documented it in her blog. She asked for peopleβs recommendations on what book she should read from their respective countries. You can find the list here. She also gave a TED talk on the same.
I loved the idea and planned to go through the books mentioned in the above list. But then I thought before reading about the world, how about reading more about my country? For a country as diverse as ours, the literature is no less rich and varied. Just as OTT is democratising cinema and bringing regional content, more and more translations in English of books are available.
My ask is simple. Can you suggest the best books from your state that everyone should read? (Preferably with an English translation). I am from Kerala, and below are a few from my state. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list, and there are plenty more. So, my fellow Keralites β feel free to add more (after all, that is the idea).
and so many more...
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Theyβre on standbi
Pilot on me!!
Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
There hasn't been a post all year!
You take away their little brooms
