A list of puns related to "Basic Intergluteal Numismatics"
I love the Ass-Crack Bandit episode, and think itβs one of the highlights of season five. But Iβve wondered this for a long time, and would love to read some discussion on this.
Is this episode a general parody of the neo-noir detective genre? Or is it a more specific parody, maybe of the Fincher style of telling these stories like Zodiac or maybe even Se7en? Is there another film that this could be a direct parody of that Iβm not mentioning?
Would love to hear everyoneβs thoughts!
I thought it was based on the movie Se7en. Is this based off of something?
Dean Pelton initiates an investigation into an anonymous bandit; Jeff is suspicious when someone makes a confession.

It was Jeff Winger.
He has access to the teacher lounge.
He is Dave Matthew fan.
He was wearing a black jacket. The ACB was wearing a black jacket too, as can be seen when Garret was cracked.
He "founded" the recorded audio system connected to the phone line located in the small storage room. When the Dean received a phone call from the ACB, they traced the call and found that it come from the stable. A place where Star-Burn was found to be hiding. After this event, no one (Dean, Jeff, Annie) could have known that call was a recorded audio system, and even if they know, they would not have known where to look for the tape, let alone having a reason to go look for it. Yet, Jeff just happens to be there.
When Ian Duncan was cracked, Jeff Winger was there and the fog would have provided sufficient camouflage. I know that Duncan yelled "get Britta!" after he was cracked. But we did not see any sillhouette nor shadow running away making the escape. Yet, Jeff instantly yelled out "that way!" as if he saw the ACB, and proceed to take Annie down the empty hall where they met Shirley.
Towards the end, Jeff also made an uncanny and symbolic speech: "Life is weird. It's a container for all this little stuff, and you get caught up in it. And then, the container just goes [fart noise]." Here, the "container" symbolizes the butt and the "little stuff" is the quarter which is "caught up."
At the end, Jeff indicated that the ACB was a "He." While this may seem trivial, Annie-who was studying forensics-instantly became suspicious of Jeff.
To those who think it was Britta cbecause of the 'Freudian Slip', remember that people use her name to mean "making a small mistake." TAnd as a psychology major, it is not unreasonable for her to want to write a book that speculate on the psychology of the ACB. Even when Ian Duncan was cracked and yelled out "Get Britta", it does not necessary mean that she was the ACB. Duncan had a huge crush on Britta, so him asking for her presence during the time of distress could have been for comfort or to score a pity point.
To those who think it was Duncan, the roll of quarter could've been a trophy when Chang punched him with it.
EDIT: u/Rodleon37 has pointed out that there is a DVD commentary where Dan Harmon and other writers said the ACB is either Jeff or Annie. I think this is probably the most reliable source of information. While we still cannot say for certain who is the ACB, we can rest a bit easier
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey guys! So I was on like my 50th rewatch or something and as I'm watching the ass crwck bandit episode, I was left wondering, what show or movie is that episode based on? It really intrigued me bc it sounds interesting! I'd anyone can help or knows of any media in that specific genre, please let me know!!!!
I was talking about this episode with some friends (and how Annie could be the Ass Crack Bandit) and I don't really know if it is a homage to a specific show or movie. Can someone help me with this?
Edit: I realize now that I didn't watch any David Fincher's movies besides Fight Club
its also suspicious how abed avoids talking about anything and just decides to leave
Airing tonight!
BTW Christ Elliot will be guest starring on Community later this season, so be sure to check out his show Eagleheart on AdultSwim if you haven't yet (it's hilarious) and /r/Eagleheart.
Just watched this episode on my second round of watching through the entirety of the best goddamn show on planet Earth and I cannot begin to express how much I hate Dean Pelton in this episode.
He turns a blind eye whenever Annie tries to look into teachers as potential suspects. He tried to put the blame on Annie and Jeff and brought up some ridiculous reasons as to why they always want to be together in situations like this. Let alone punishing them for it especially Jeff. Forcing Jeff to become a water polo coach or whatever while having yourself to coincidentally be the assistant water polo coach? Like come on!
How hypocritical can he be about his not-so-hidden feelings for Jeff while putting down the potential and maybe real connection that Jeff and Annie had by flexing his authority as dean? Give me a goddamn break.
Not to mention paying off Starburns, sorry, Alex* to confess to being the Ass Crack Bandit and whatnot.
The Dean has his moments and I do think he's a brilliant character in the show but goddamn, just be a good dean for once? Don't you love the school so much? More than your job?
You guys can share your opinions and until then, Delta Cubes out!
Everyone looks to Basic Lupine Urology, which is amazing, but the Asscrack Bandit episode is a great Criminal Minds homage
Stream the new episode live tonight at 8/7c here!
Watch 'Basic Intergluteal Numismatics' here
Who do you think the asscrack bandit is? Will Annie and Jeff find the culprit? Will Troy ever find justice? Will the Dean ever stop dressing in his fake sister's outfits??
Is it like the Law and Order style episode but in the style of another show?
I've done my best to transcribe the articles in the opening credits of the episode. No Loren Ipsum here, they're full articles!
I used the video directly, as the moving FOV revealed more snippets, but u/RDPhibes very deftly captured screenshots of the articles in this submission. Give him some love!
Headlines are in a combination of bold and italics, while Quoted text are the hand-written notes. Anything in brackets are my best guess. Any mistakes are my own tired fault. Corrections are welcome!
EDITS: I've gone through and cleaned up some grammar and misspelling.
"ASS CRACK BANDIT" TERRORIZES CAMPUS
by Ray Crenshaw
After Much debate, it's been settled. All three of Greendale's newspapers have agreed to the moniker "Ass Crack Bandit" for all future stories regarding the coin-dropping case. The decision was made just after 2 a.m. this morning during a twelve-hour summit at the local Denny's.

Early Sunday morning, another student experienced what is becoming an ugly phenomenon at Greendale. Kendall Montiel was walking through the quad when someone slid a quarter down the back of her pants. She is the [third(?)] Greendale student in the past month to report being violated in such a way.
Returning from an off-campus party, Montiel said that she stopped to pick up a piece of trash that had been carelessly left in the middle of the walkway.
"I was furious," Montiel said, "I mean, Earth Day was less than six weeks ago, how could someone been so careless?"

Just rewatched "Basic Lupine Urology" and was pleasant in my realization that it end the same way it's spirit sequel does; with an unexpected death.
After it is revealed Pierce has died we get a voice over by Neil doing an obituary. What really hit me in the feels box was him referencing the D&D game, calling Pierce "one hell of a D&D player." In the original episode we do see Neil forgiving Pierce and now we can see Neil saw Pierce as a friend because by being a villain he helped Neil overcome his depression. It was just nice to see after Pierce had become such a villain within the series and truly hated at points, he was still everyone's friend, even to those he hurt. To Pierce, may he rest in Pierce.
Over on /r/community it's getting a very good reception, but how would they be reacting if it was the exact same episode but without Dan Harmon and in Season 4?
Dean: Okay, you want to make trouble? Go to Parker brothers.
Synopsis: Everyone is up in arms when an anonymous bandit starts dropping coins down people's pants. While Dean Pelton mobilizes the school to investigate, Jeff and Annie pursue their own theories - methodically interrogating staff members. When someone eventually confesses, the school heaves a sigh of relief, but Jeff thinks there is more to the story than meets the eye.

The watch/chat is tomorrow (Sunday) at 4pm EST in the official channel.
Rerun Reminder: We'll be doing "reruns" each week for those who can't make it on Sundays. There will be an official Community 2016 Rerun post every Friday at 3pm EST to remind you that the episodes will play at 4pm EST the next day, in the same channel. It will be a second showing of the previous Sunday's episodes. Unfortunately, it can't be stickied, so just look out for the post.
OK, in the montage at the end of the episode I had the clearest memory of Roxy Music and More than This playing. Am I crazy? Because I just rewatched it and thereβs an original song about the ass crack bandit. I know it was in the fat dog dance episode, but I remember this clear as day.

Is there any general books focused on this for ancient all the way to early modern economies? Most specific historical academic books assume pre knowledge on these things
How do I learn about the production of coins, clipping, debasement, effects of circulation, how international currencies were converted, how taxation works and effects the economy. How and why new coins were made, what the purpose of coins in different metals was, what the effects of different weights and purities was, what the effects of having no small change or conversely having no big value stores etc.
Are there any books on learning basic eocnomic principles for bullion based medieval to early modern economies
MOTHER OF GOD THIS EPISODE IS AMAZING. David Fincher references, check. Darkened filter, check. Ben Folds, check. This is my personal second favorite episode.

**Discussions every Monday and Thursday
Background: Reddit has fairly active communities in the coin collecting hobby, with subreddits like r/coins for general interest posts, and subreddits like r/Coins4Sale and r/Pmsforsale for buy/sell/trade of coins.
The drama starts with a self post from a former mod of r/Coins4Sale saying that he and all the other moderators of the popular buy/sell forum have been removed by the head moderator over a disagreement about the subreddit rules, specifically whether or not people who sell coins professionally should be allowed on the sub. A number of the regular buyers and sellers find the post and comment their support.
Several prominent users in the community are subsequently banned by the (now only) moderator, and some make self-posts about it.
The community writ large gets wind of the situation and starts posting inflammatory posts on Coins4Sale, with some staying up for several hours before removal (Sorry, I didn't archive those posts, but I find some screenshots. Imgur links to Post 1 and Post 2).
After a day of chaos, fingerpointing, and radio silence from the sole mod of coins4sale, the moderator makes a "Want to talk" post, explaining that the entire existing moderating team was removed, there would be new rules on the subreddit, and immediately the comments on that post were locked.
Several users promptly ignore the new rules and post as they normally would, resulting in their posts being removed by the moderator. The moderator comments to explain the new rules, and his comments are fairly unpopular.
Hey all - as a good portion of you have now heard, the head moderator over at /r/Coins4Sale recently removed all of the mods and started passing bans out like pamphlets at a funeral. If you like reading about this stuff click here and also here.
We put a great deal of time and energy into making that subreddit a trustworthy, friendly, and reliable place that complemented what our friends in /r/Pmsforsale do. Since we can no longer vouch for the integrity of that subreddit, we have created a new one:
/r/CoinSales
This sub will be managed by the same mods who have consistently volunteered significant amounts of their time to provide us with an efficient, honorable community for folks wanting to engage in numismatic transactions.
We will be integrating a bot into the new sub and it will be important to check /r/PMsFeedback until we get it up and running (and even after, you should always check user reviews).
Lastly, we encourage any and all of your feedback as it will be valuable for helping us develop a better set of rules that reflect where the hobby is at today. Thanks!
I don't know how many have payed attention to the name of Season 5 Episode 3.
Interglutial- in the butt.
Numismatics- the study of coins
The episode is literally named inner ass coins.
So Im at 290ozt of silver. My goal is 300 ozt, before I switch to adding to my measly stacks of gold and platinum (one ounce of each). I started stacking a little under a year ago. Anyways Iβve always stacked purely for weight. Iβve always bought the newest and cheapest silver I could find. However, for my last ten ounces I wanted to look at silver with numismatic value. I donβt have any ASEs so maybe thatβs an option. The only sovereign coins I have are some Canadian culls. Long story short I want something with some collectors value. Any suggestions?
