A list of puns related to "Bartles & Jaymes"
TW: discussion of suicide, self-harm.
Hey all, UK fan here with a question about the above products from "You and Your Memory".
So, alcohol and painkillers - it seems pretty obvious that our narrator is contemplating suicide in his bargain-price room. ("Lord if I make it through tonight...")
Having looked up both these products, it seems from an outside point of view that... Well, they're not exactly your typical 'prescription strength sleeping tablets and hard bourbon' alcohol and painkillers that you often see described when someone is attempting suicide. It looks like a low strength aspirin (as the name would suggest) and a drink that's a mix of wine and fruit juice?
And to me that speaks to a number of things: that these were the only items available at the corner store (and so we can assume our narrator hasn't been seriously planning his attempt for a long time, maybe things are particularly rough right now); and even a sort of dark humour or irony - sometimes even in the depths of depression you might have these moments where you stand outside yourself and ask "what the hell am I doing here, with this baby aspirin?". (I'm reminded of a YouTube video I saw where someone is discussing their past of self-harm, and they show us that the knife they used is part of a camping cutlery set and so it has a tiny spork on the other end and they're like "... That's honestly very funny.")
So I'd love to know, from someone who is familiar with them, do those products carry the same connotations for you? Am I right at least in recognising that these are not 'hard' products, as it were? Thanks for any and all opinions!
My family (primarily my dad and I) loved drinking the B&J wine coolers with fuzzy navel and pina colada as our favorite. Also because itβs more convenient than mixing it ourselves.
Iβm unable to find it in stores anymore. I assumed it was an issue with covid shutting them down until I recently saw on the shelves new B&J canned drinks with all new flavors. And we do not like the new flavors at all.
Did they completely drop the old products in favor of the new without telling anyone?
Many game designers are familiar with Bartle's Taxonomy of players, which I've had discussions with that state that this taxonomy system is a bit outdated.
Are there any other taxonomy systems of player types in games? Something a bit less dated or challenges Bartle's?
On this special holiday episode of Line of Sight, Bret and Jaden are here to talk aboutβ¦.player psychology? What people want out of wargames? Wait did we get the memo that episode 200 was a holiday episode?
Apparently not. Have a parody Warmachine Christmas Carol Introduction as compensation, and come buckle in for some deep dives into what makes people tick when it comes to their favorite war games, how to identify if a war game is good for you, and then cap it off with a serious look at what makes Warmachine unique and why we love it as we do. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and thank you for 200 incredible episodes!
