Hi ive been a Barber for 6 years and I’ve decided to open my own shop. I have everything ready except for the location. I live in a medium sized city and ever good location has either a sports clips fantastic sams or great clips already in the plaza. I’ve only found run down bad locations or way overpriced. Is there anyway to get into the same plaza as these franchises?

I dont see how anyone would want to buy a barbershop as a franchise. You can just start your own without the additional franchise fees
Look, man. If you aren't a poc you probably can't understand this. But look. I was wondering if there are any black barbershops in the state college area. I went to supercuts once, and it was not a good experience.
I overheard the other day one of the barbers in the Montreal area that they had a meeting between different barbershop, (sort of like a barbershop brotherhood they want to start in the south west of Montreal) and some of the barbershop owners have proposed to get together and raise the price of a haircut to 45$. Some of the barbershops declined but some others were on board.
In my understanding, this sounds like price colusion and it's illegal.
How much do you pay for your haircut in Montreal in average at a barbershop?
I usually pay about 35$ and I leave a 10% tip.
Honestly I find it expensive, considering that I go usually every 4-5 weeks.
Do you think this is justified?

EDIT: went to Ecletic Barbershop and got one of the best haircuts I’ve ever gotten. Highly recommend!
