A list of puns related to "Avatar (2009 film)"
First of all, I'm not saying it's bad, it's actually pretty decent. But seriously, the highest grossing move of all time (no inflation), it didn't really deserve to be that successful. I know it "pioneered" the 3D movie craze, which is impressive until you realize that trend didn't even last 5 years. It has a great premise that is mildly wasted by a predictable and somewhat unoriginal story. Overall I'd give it like a 7/10, not bad, but certainly not worth 2.8 billion dollars in revenue.
visuals are amazing, dont get me wrong But, i literally pulled nothing from it, i cant even remember a single line aside from the blue people (sorry) there wasn't anything that stood out in terms of pop culture
I honestly donβt know why so many people call it crap.
I really enjoyed it because it didnβt do the usual clichΓ© thing where the aliens had better technology, something that gets a little old over time. It also didnβt have unrealistically powerful tech like lasers and hyperdrives, which also get rather old and generic.
Iβve never actually watched Avatar (the one where they bend air or whatever) and I only know about it through memes. Iβve got no opinions on the show, but I still canβt understand why people seem to hate the movie.
I asked this question because I remembered that the military force in the movie was a company employed security force, so is that the most advanced tech we've got on earth, or is that just the tip of the iceberg if so tell me what kind of tech the (main) earth military/spaceforce might have?
It is literally Dances with Wolves 2: Electric boogaloo.
What were your thoughts and expectations about Avatar's live-action film adaptation back in 2009 and early 2010, just before the film's release? And how accurate did your expectations end up being when you finally watched the film?
I am pretty certain this is an unpopular opinion because in spite of it being the highest grossing film of all time (until last year)... it seems to get a great deal of flak. Critics love to hate it. So many people will repeat things about how unoriginal the storyline is (blue Pocahontas Smurfs n all that). Youβve even got the argument that it is telling a white-people saviour story through the means of the human species (specifically Jake Sully) being βthe oneβ to help another kind of human (the naβvi being humanoids). Also the fact it doesnβt have a βcultβ fan following like Star Wars did seems to mean it isnβt as good. Also the fact it got so many less oscars..
While these arguments hold some merit... they donβt outweigh that, in my opinion, Avatar is of the most transcendent film experiences I have ever had for the following reasons:
I remember the first time I watched it; at 17 years old with a ton of typical teenager problems and angst, and simply forgetting everything I cared about. It was as if I stepped into the avatar body of Jakes naβvi and I was complete and utterly mesmerised. I fell in love with Pandora and all the creatures in it. I was completely invested in the story. I couldnβt believe what I was watching... I felt immense gratefulness to live in a time where this unparalleled universe could be witnessed. The 3D experience was also out of this world- something that has been a gimmick for so many films since avatar mostly because they set the bar way so high... The CGI is still amazing.. even to this day so many films donβt come even slightly close to achieving the level of detail with every shot being so captivating. If youβve experienced βthe flight of passageβ in Disneyβs Animal Kingdom in Florida youβll hopefully concur that it is the most insanely amazing rides in the world.
I cannot describe how excited I am for Avatar 2.. and the fact that James Cameron has been working on it for this long makes me all the more thrilled for the future of Pandora.
βI see youβ (when you come out hopefully next year)
The film was literally cinematic garbage. how did it make such a monumental amount? iβve seen not a single soul whoβs a super fan of avatar or hyped for the sequels. just really confused.
