So there's something interesting about Article 15.3, which I originally saw pointed out by commenter red-andy at Racefans, and I haven't really seen discussed a lot:
15.3 explicitly says the race director can only exercise overriding authority “in accordance with the … Sporting Regulations” when it comes to controlling the practice and race, stopping a car, and throwing red flags (Articles 15.3a, b, c). That leaves zero doubt that for those cases, "overriding authority" means merely overriding the clerk of the course, and not overriding the regulations themselves.
But — that condition is absent when it comes to the starting procedure and the use of the safety car (Articles 15.3d and e). It doesn't explicitly state that the RD can ignore the regs. But it's kinda conspicuous that the requirement to follow the regs is left out for safety cars, when it's explicitly stated for red flags. I started to wonder, how much is there to Red Bull's "overriding authority" argument?
So I tried to figure out when Article 15.3 was written and what its original intent was, and I found a copy online of the 1994 sporting regulations. (I can't confirm this source independently — it looks like someone's personal site, but it has copies of the regulations for every year from 1997–2016, in addition to 1994, which seem pretty legit.) 1994 would be one year after the safety car was reintroduced to the sport. The regs are, not surprisingly, way shorter and cover far fewer scenarios.
But it turns out, Article 15.3 was essentially the same in 1994, numbered Article 35 then (my emphasis):
>The clerk of the course shall work in permanent consultation with the race director. The race director shall have overriding authority in the following matters and the clerk of the course may give orders in respect of them only with his express agreement:
>
>a) the control of practice and the race, adherence to the timetable and, if he deems it necessary, the making of any proposal to the stewards to modify the timetable in accordance with the Code or Sporting Regulations,
>
>b) the stopping of any car in accordance with the Code or Sporting Regulations,
>
>c) the stopping of practice or the race in accordance with the Sporting Regulations if he deems it unsafe to continue and ensuring that the correct restart procedure is carried out,
>
>d) the start
Just watched the film on Netflix. It feels like a drama pretending to be a thriller. Delhi Crime, Raman Raghav 2.0, Madras Cafe, Ugly were so much better. There’s barely any tension and the second half of the film is poor. The few twists are good, but they’re not executed well, so it falls flat.
The character development is not good either. They talk about many characters that it’s hard keeping up since we never see them. When they mentioned Anshul as a suspect in the second half, we have no idea who he is, so there’s no tension or big reveal. They talk of a few politicians but we only see one of them. Also, it is not clear if that politician is doing the "Ekta" campaign for votes or he actually believes in unity. I’m still not sure.
A lot of the reviews praised the content of the film rather than the film overall. For someone who grew up in a modern society, all this caste talk was not interesting enough, even though I’m very familiar with it. I lost interest after 1 hour and 15 minutes into the film. Look at Anurag Kashyap’s Ugly, so much tension. Article 15 is just an overrated mess.
This is a short story from when I first redeployed back from Iraq and 2007. I had some fun time but also some dark times. Like most guys, I just kind of did my best to bury everything deep down and not thing about it. But like most unseen issues, it comes bubbling up to the top anyways.
So after a few months of not being able to sleep, I final go to sick call and see someone about my PTSD. They just want to make sure I’m mission ready and they give me some pills, one of them being Ambien, so that I can sleep at night. I’ve never taken it so I don’t know how it’s going to effect me.
At the time, I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and it gets cold there in the winter. Me and my wife (now ex, man am I your typical soldier) living in on base family housing and my I have an E8 Master SGT as my neighbor. My wife had gone out of town to visit her family who had just brought a new child in to the world for a couple of weeks, so I was home alone.
Well I wake up one more and walk out to my living room and there’s my neighbor sleeping in my couch. The conversation was odd as he starts to fill me in on why he’s on my couch.
It would seem that as he was coming home from duty at about 2 am, he pulls up to find me outside in my boxers asleep standing in the snow, sleep walking in circles. My door wide open, he brought in the house, put me to bed and slept in the couch to make sure I didn’t do anything crazy again.
I was shocked, I thanked him for helping me out and called my doctor and told him about the episode, to which he adjusted my medicine.
Spoiler alert: it didn’t work.
Although I didn’t go outside any more and make snow angels, I was now calling people in my sleep. The calls ranged from talking incoherently, to knock knock jokes to cussing the person out.
Well, as part of a battalion wide policy, we were to have our chain of command up to our company commander in our phone in case we were drunk and needed a ride home (DUIs were high for returning soldiers). And it seemed that one night I made my way through the list of our chain of command and ended with our First SGT who I apparently throughly cussed out. Top to bottom, never let him speak and then sign off by saying and I quote, “Eat a bag dicks, you fat fuck” and hung up.

BN was getting ready to go to the field a few weeks ago and the weekend before I talked to one of my NCOs about getting it checked, he said I should go to the emergency room. I called the ER on post and they said it’s not an emergency and I shouldn’t go. Spoke with my medic and he said I could go to the ER, but if it got any worse I need to go. Planned on going out to the field that Monday and having him check me out and speak with the provider. That Monday morning I ended up with a severe migraine and couldn’t see out of my left eye, I informed my leadership I had to go to the ER and they told me to come in anyways and that missing SP is an automatic field grade, even though it was a matter of life, limb or eyesight. They’re not back from the field yet so I don’t know if they want to give me a field grade or not, I have yet to receive a counseling recommending me for a fields grade, I was just wondering if that’s something they can actually do since it was a matter of life, limb or eyesight. I’ve since then seen a provider and been put on profile that says no intense exercise or training until cleared, prescribed medication and told to schedule an MRI for my brain and am being given a referral for a neurologist.
I received an article 15 when I was in and it is on my background check as “pending”. I was not court martialed but I accepted the NJP. Does this matter? How can I get this dropped?
Long story short I got denied a supervisor security position at G4S . I had plenty of experience they told me …that was no problem .. Former military police… honorable discharge .. former Afghanistan security contractor… Some college credit in criminal justice…They told me the reason is because I had an Article 15 from my military files that I disobeying a “No contact order” my 1st Sgt put on me from my ex wife during my divorce because she saw I moved on during our separation time so she called my 1sgt and told him our divorce wasn’t final and had a No Contact Order issued on me to not be around and speak to other woman. “Of course i didn’t listen I was 25 years old “ but does this give G4S the right to use it against me?

I’m getting frustrated because it’s so hard to find a good drama or thriller in Bollywood. This movie has really good reviews but the only things it has going for it is the subject matter, the acting, and the great cinematography. The writing is just bad as is typical with most BW movies that aren’t romance. For so much of the movie there’s suspense and build up yet nothing comes out of it. It’s incredibly boring. Anyone else think this way? Actually even Ayushmanns acting is bland and unengaging. I was disappointed to hear Ayushmann say this is his favorite movie he’s done. I think Bala and SMZS were both better than this (I haven’t seen his other movies yet).

I finished the movie Article 15 with Ayushman Khurana. I was very excited for it when it started. Just the kind of movie I am into. A badass cop solving cases. Midway I was pretty bored so I might have missed a few things. Couple questions,
1.I know caste system is still prevelant. But is it as bad as the movie shows? Like you cannot eat food mad by someone from particular cast?

So no one I know is currently being threatened over it, but a while ago one of my friends got a sunburn and an nco threatened to give her an art 15 if it happened again for damaging govt property. I doubt a commander would ever actually sign off on it, but a comment made me think about it. Is it possible for a commander to actually give you an article for an injury if it was preventable and your fault?

So recently I made a dumb decision that's going to end up having to go to leadership. I won't go into the details of it but I basically need to go to court during my duty day of my classes at tech school to pay a fine. I've really thought about and I decided that I have to man up and just tell leadership. It's gonna suck but I have to do it. I think if anything this will help me learn from the situation and bounce back from being a stupid young airman. I'm guessing I'm going to get an article for it but I'm not sure. I'm an e-1 and I've made a dumb move because I didn't have the bearing. Now I need this punishment to gain my bearing back. I really want to be the best airman I can be. I'm disappointed in myself and still have big plans with my career. Any help or similar stories would be great on how anyone came back from their article. But, I recently observed that in every news article/tweet, he always talks about an impending crash. As recently as last week, he issued another warning stating that there would a “mother of all crashes soon due to the meme-stock and *****currency rally that will approach the size of countries”. Basically, what I wanted to analyze was
Whether Michael Burry always predicts a crash and gets lucky when there is an actual crash or does his prediction actually turns out to be true most of the time?
Analysis
The various news articles spanning over the last 15 years were obtained from Google News [1]. I flagged the date of each crash prediction and then analyzed the performance of the market/stock over the
a. Next 1 Month
b. Next 1 Quarter
c. Till Date
I will not be including the subprime mortgage crash prediction in this analysis as we all know how that turned out and how that made him famous. Also, there are no news reports covering Burry before that.
The performance figures are calculated based on the prediction. If Burry specifies a stock, then I am using that particular stock as the benchmark. If its broader prediction relating to the overall market, then the benchmark used is S&P 500.
Results
There was a long gap of 9 years after the 2008 crash where Burry stayed out of the public view and did not make any warnings or predictions about the market.
His first verifiable prediction after the 2008 crisis came in May 2017 where he warned that we can expect a global financial meltdown and World War 3. In his exact words

But it’s been 4 years since the prediction and the market is chugging along just fine. S&P500 has returned a respectable 93% to date and there is no imminent threat of a World War happening.
