I've been constantly checking the NYPD licensing website for the past week hoping to get an update on my license since last Friday was exactly 1 month after I had my interview. Finally, today I see that it is marked as approved! Unfortunately, I still have to wait for the official approval letter to be sent to me before I can go in and pick up the license.

Just for anyone curious, this was the basic timeline of my process:

1. January 28, 2019: Application submitted
2. April 8, 2019: Fingerprinting and application fees (received a call to schedule this one week prior)
3. May 14, 2019: Received email requesting additional documents and interview
4. June 12, 2019: In-person interview
5. July 17, 2019: Application marked as "Approved" online and "Licenses" tab now shows my license with status "Issue Pending"
6. July 23, 2019: Received official "Notice of Approval" letter via email.
7. July 24, 2019: Picked up my license at 1PP. Took about 30-45 minutes, mostly of just waiting.

About 6 months total for this process. Better than I feared for NYC, but pretty bad compared to the rest of the country.

I'm still convinced that tee pee pee is going to be a huge change, specifically with how the internet works. I hope to be wrong, I guess we'll know soon enough. Got some fairly interesting details emerging. I don't watch TV, is this being talked about in MM­?

Pretty much what the title says. I am a renter in NYC living with my wife. If I apply for a premises handgun license, will the NYPD request an approval note from my landlord? I know that since I live with my wife, she will be required to fill out the form since she lives with me.

Didn’t see anything about this in the forms and searches I have come across, but just wanted to make sure, as there’s virtually no way he will approve, and I don’t want to waste hundreds of dollars only to find out this is the case.

My landlord lives a floor below in the same complex, if that matters.

So background I work in a hotel in the US and we can serve liquor to our guest. However, the keyword is serve not sell, as in we need to have it opened and ready to consume they can not buy a beer or bottle of wine for later unopened in our state.

I was at the front desk with my manager next to me in the middle of fixing a different issue. A guest wanted to buy beers, he wanted one now and some unopened for later, we told him we can just deliver the others later so he wouldn't have warm flat beers sitting around, but refused. All hell breaks loose with the typical phrases, threats, and bargaining that entitled people use when they don't get their way. -I have never heard of this before. -This has never happened to me before. -You can't do this I am a paying customer. -Just do it no one will know. -Let me talk to your manager. My manager stepped in and repeated that this is a state law, which he then went on about us needing to show him the state laws on this exact issue as if we have a binder of every state law that might get called into question readily available at any given time.

I ran into him later while trying to fix the previously mentioned issue. He wanted to report us to the GM who ended up telling him the same thing. I ended up taking the stairs to get to the issue instead of the elevator so I wouldn't have to ride it with him. Turns out he was next door to the room that was having issues so we can hear him loudly complain to his wife about it. Going on about how we are liars and in his home state, not this one, they don't do this. 2 hours later I get a call from him demanding ca corporate number since he spent the last 2 hours calling everyone that would pick up to complain if there was anyone on Christmas Day.

I felt sorry for the wife who was so nice during my interactions with her. Good news is I have the rest of their stay off from work.

I am a casual learner (not a college student) doing exercises out of this free online textbook. These questions are at the end of the first chapter, and I believe the answers in the back of the book are wrong, but want to verify.

Here are the questions from Chapter 1 Part D...

Chapter 1 Part D 1, 2, 3, 6, 8, and 10 are possible.

I am under the impression that #3 is not possible, and #4 is possible. However, the answer in the back of the book says otherwise.

For #3, an argument can only be valid when the conclusion must be true whenever the premises are true. If the conclusion is a contractiction, then it cannot be true by the nature of it being a contradiction. Therefore, shouldn't it always be impossible for an argument to be both valid and have a contradiction as its conclusion?

For #4. This should be possible by putting together any string of unrelated sentences, with the final conclusion being a tautology.

Example if of an invalid argument with tautology as its conclusion:

I like to eat pizza.
I like to drink beer.
If I am drinking beer, then I am drinking something. 

Am I wrong, or is the textbook wrong?

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

From the Star Trek Online canon, we see how the Iconians used Omega Molecules like the contemporary galactic powers use antimatter. We also know that Omega Molecules have a strange relationship with the subspace.

The mission, "Midnight" marks the end of the Iconian War. While the leader L'Miren accepted the peace treaty, T'Ket didn't and she wanted to claim vengeance. L'Miren said the Iconians will be willing to open to the greater galactic powers after a millennia.

What is strange about this is, that the Iconian Vonph battleships could open rifts from any sun to nearby target and Quas Flight Deck Carriers could open gateways that channeled Omega Molecules from the subspace. Now we also see how the DMA has a strange relationship with the subspace.

Now we've defeated the Iconians using time travel. So, does that mean when the Iconians are trying to return, the timeline is trying to correct itself and the DMA formed? Or there is a 2nd hypothesis, that is the DMA itself is the flagship of T'Ket or one of her Harbinger's ship. She's on a mission of claiming vengeance?

As we approach that which I (and many others) rightfully consider the most wonderful time of the year, I am reminded of some past events which might be in line with this sub, and I decided to share the cheer.

Obligatory premises: not my first language (so point out my mistakes), account is an obvious throwaway (as the story is unique enough to identify me) and since I dislike spoilers a TL;DR can be found at the bottom. Another important note is that this takes place in late 2020 northern Australia, with no restriction on travel or gatherings existing within the State.

This is a story about Christmas in retail which hinges strongly on meticulous compliance, a perfect storm, careful planning, and the importance of asking nicely. It's not malicious at all because I am a good person, and it has nothing but sincerity in every word spoken.

Let's begin.

Our story begins in a small supermarket deli. A new manager, let's call him Bill, has just joined the team and is slowly getting to know everyone. At one point, during an evening shift, we end up talking about me. See, I am not from around here. I moved a few years ago and as a result have been quite separated from the family, but I did manage to go see everyone at a big Christmas get-together a few years ago. I failed the assessment, and the app said to Stay Home for X amount of days, and to contact Sedgwick. But my store manager says that I sent myself home, not a representative of Walmart. In the policy, it says, Contact Sedgwick if:

• you failed the health screening, and required to quarantine. Or -if you were told to quarantine by a healthcare provider, government agency, or Walmart.

After being approved for my LoA, and returned to work, I got sat down by my store manager and PL, and was told that only a manager can send you home, not the app. I told them that I didn't go home, I was already home, a Sedgwick agent told me that when you wake up you take the assessment. Hence why it says Stay Home if you failed, or Go To Work if you passed. The wording seems to suggest that the assessment is done off the premises. And why if you fail, it says do not go to the facility. But my store manager says that we have to do the assessment in the parking lot, and then show the person at the screening table the results, then a manager is called to see, I guess judge, if you should go home or stay? Regardless of failing the app. How can I be sat down and spoken with if my leave was approved, I thought I was protected. It is frustrating, I had to open a ethics complaint.

Hello,

The shop adjacent to my flat’s landing has a door that connects it to my flat. This door is operational.

Currently, it is being used by contractors who are doing work on the shop. They will also be connecting the shops fire alarm to our alarm system inside our flat. The flat is a HMO of 10 people.

The landlord owns our flat and the shop.

We are not comfortable with there being an operational door between a shop and our flat. There is nothing about the door mentioned in the tenancy agreement or deeds etc.

What are our options here? England based.

Also: because it is a ‘fire escape’ we are not allowed to obstruct it or place bikes in the landing.

To further clarify:

The door goes directly into our flat and someone could go through the shop and access the kitchen and bedroom without a key etc.

I will now commence a detailed storytelling of my experience with a Muslim singles event. I had absolutely no idea what to expect, so now that I do know, I will impart this information to you all.

This past weekend I was set to attend a Single's Event that promised a lot of mingling and a welcoming environment in order to possibly find potentials. The event was organized by a Muslim matrimonial brand (Pious Hearts) and was hosted by a very well-known North American Muslim convention (MAS-ICNA).

A month prior to this event, I was required to send in an application. Once I was approved a few days before the event, I got the invitation and paid the $100 fee. This was the first time I ever expressed my interest in marriage to my mom and she allowed me to go.

On the day of the event, my mom and dad dropped me off to the convention area. I got to the assigned room and was asked to show proof of vaccination. One of the event coordinators guided me to my seat at a round table decorated with candles and flyers. The room was a small-sized ballroom with about 20 round tables. I was only the second person to arrive. The first person to arrive was seated at my table as well. She was a girl slightly younger than me, and we quickly began some small talk about where we're from and what we expected of the night.

Slowly, the room filled up with eager single Muslims, ranging from age 18 to about 30 ish. There was an equal ratio of males to females. There was multiple different races/ethnicities. Each table seated 5 males and 5 females. Everyone immediately started chatting to break the ice a little bit. It was about 5:45, and the event was scheduled to go from 6 pm to 9 pm. As people were introducing themselves to their table mates, the event coordinators began to shut the doors and begin the program.

Each of us was given a name tag and a question sheet. We were also given contact cards with which we were supposed to fill out with our names and a contact number so we can hand them out to anyone we felt a connection with at the end of the night.

The first task we were all assigned to do was to get to know our table mates by answering questions from the sheet. Most of these questions were not very personal but more geared toward personality. I knew Elias didn’t see anything wrong with used gifts. His parents had apparently given him used presents, even for birthdays. He talked about an old chemistry set he’d gotten from his father, almost all his clothing came to him ‘used,’ even his shoes were used ‘hand-me-downs.’ I saw his gaze get distant, as if thinking about that very topic, something that I knew was distressing him, and that he couldn’t really handle right now. Not today.

“If someone wants something so badly, they can go buy it themselves.” The boy was technically more dressed, but I couldn’t help but compare visually.

The Shil’ boy was neither weightier, nor nearly so dense with muscle, yet undeniably less defined. His tailor had tried to draw attention to what jawline and cheekbones he did have, with an outfit with little lines of the same fabric as the rest of his attire somehow fastened tight to his skin. It ringed around his collar bones and over his shoulders to highlight all the segmentation between his barely formed muscle groups. Elias’s body by contrast seemed to naturally and effortlessly detail each part of his toned anatomy, making the Shil’ boy seem almost the more crudely dressed by comparison, despite wearing considerably more fabric than Elias.

I grew up Christian, giving my whole life to it. I attained my Master’s in theology and education. It took me a while to leave the faith and re-educate myself, but not by the grace of god, I made it. Later traditions and writings would pretty much state he was God in a second form.

Most Christians believe… Jewish leaders were especially corrupt and prevented people from following Jesus and even planned his murder. The Roman state only arrested and crucified Jesus at the request of the Jewish leaders.

Most Christians believe… Jesus really didn’t speak out or do much about the exploitation of the Jewish people by the Romans. The story of Jesus, approved by Roman emperor, mostly characterized Jesus as advising Jewish citizens to live peacefully under the exploitation of the Romans. Jesus mostly spoke of a spiritual kingdom that didn’t conflict with political powers in the world.

Most Christians believe… Jesus was put to death at the request of Jewish leaders because he undermined their religious influence.

Most Christians believe… Jesus resurrected from the dead and appeared to many people. Still people did not believe in him. Jewish leaders continue to reject him. He ended up leaving for good and said that one day he’ll come back. That was 2000 years ago.

Most Christians believe… Jesus died, not merely because religious people hated him, but because God the Father was actually sacrificing him like an animal for the sins of the world. It was a plan from the beginning of the universe that include

#Ramee Raid

TLDR; Ramee raided for possessing Wrangler's PD-issued SCAR-H rifle. Properties raided: Upper Power Street Apartment, all cars and boats, Vulture Le Culture Gallery. Ramee was close to both Drug and Weapon Trafficking, but a few guns/meth off.

Wrangler signed onto duty and learned that the Vagos had been consorting with prostitutes at the Dean's World Pier. After arriving at the Pier, he saw Taco Prince pointing an AK47 at someone attempting to drive down the side pathway past the pier. Wrangler called for 78s and attempted to stop Taco, before the other members of CG around (Randy, Ramee, and Mr K) shot Wrangler with AK47s. At that point, Angel took over the scene, which eventually led to Ramee being shot down. On his possessions, Ramee had a SCAR-H rifle which came back to Wrangler.

After Wrangler was seen by medics, Ramee was remanded to his custody in the interrogation rooms. Wrangler informed Ramee that the rifle he was found with was from a SWAT deployment just a few days previous, and that Ramee would be getting raided for possessing PD equipment, as other equipment from downed SWAT officers was taken as well but not found on Ramee.

Ramee gave consent for Wrangler to search his apartment before his lawyer, Murphy Braun, could arrive. Wrangler dressed up in a "grinder outfit" and locked down the apartment. While this was happening, Ramee beat up Cadet Aziz and took his rifle, holding him hostage before shooting two other cops. Ramee was then shot down himself.

Wrangler raided Ramee's apartment alone, dressed up in his "grinder outfit", completely avoiding the ambush that CG was actively setting up. Wrangler found guns, drugs, and a large sum of dirty money in Ramee's apartment, which allowed him to push for a raid warrant on all of Ramee's cars. Further items of note included an Octopus games invitation, VIP Mask, and the first half of a Casino Access Code.

Murphy Braun and Robert Locksley, along with "paralegal" Hutch Hutcherson, arrived to represent Ramee. Braun, upon hearing what Ramee was being charged with, initially questioned why he even wanted a lawyer. At this point, Wrangler was informed that felons were not allowed to be paralegals.
